Diplomat sent to Der Angst...

13-11-2003, 19:18
Port of Brithombar, in FF&L-controlled Karkan Island
Richard acompnanied Morgana all the way to the jet, confirming his instructions, before handing her a thick black folder as she climbed aboard, and rapidly returning to his office while the shinig airplane took to the skies. It was a difficult misison, but he trusted the Consultant.

Inside, Morgana reviewed her notes.
The Poisoned Industry Wastelands of Der Angst...population: 1,617 million at the latest census....capital:unknown....form of government: corporatism....main industrial sectors:Gambling, Information Technology, and Uranium Mining ....income tax: 3%... major industrial power, the Associates are members of the Corporate Coalition, yada-yada... she rapidly skimmed through the first part, stopping at a section underlined in red: Possible outlet for our publishing and agricultural divisions...can facilitate entry into CC....potential supplier of mineral ressources.
She began thinking about how to go about this mission as her business jet neared it's destination...

"And there they come..."

Manfred Weinstein and his secretary, a rather bold, middle- aged woman, waited at the Mönchengladbach airport.

"How long until arrval?"
"Probably... wait... 30min."
"Damn. Well, at least we`re not to late... would be rude." Manfred watched a few security guards. With the recent terrorist warnings... well, he disliked it. But what could he do?
"Well, i hope they`re actually equipped for our environment..."
"We sent them the specefics. If they don`t use the encounter suits... well, their problem."
Manfred sighed, looking at the dark clouds in the sky. At least the weather seemed to be acceptable, no hydrogen/ oxygen reactions visible. And the radiation level was surprisingly low. For some reason, he enjoyed the drizzling rain, the PH of 3.5 was pretty high... a nice day, so to speak.

OOC: Uhm... I did specify that my diplomats walk around in military "Knes" combat armor in your nation, due to the BCR resistance it provides, right?

Oh, and taggy

The aircraft descended, slowly. As she heard the flight crew pray they wouldn't have the monstrous maintenance bill witheheld from their pay, Morgana began to realise just how well Der Angst was living up to it's name. In the aircraft's luxury bathroom, she undressed and then put on the suit the Corporate Security division had provided-their latest model of NBC warfare suit, custom-tailored to suit her needs-she grinned at that thought. Being an External Marketing Consultant had a good deal of privileges. She even had a special notepad that could withstand what the Angstians reportedly called "rain"-officially, FF&L still called it "routinely self-inflicted natural distaters", but that was mainly propaganda. She was well-placed to know that Internal Marketing had censored a scientific paper predicting similar phenomena would hit the Company's island of Timan within two decades-she shuddered to think of what happened to the author. Then she got back to the job at hand, checking the integrity of her suit and stepping back into the main cabin, while the aircraft begin it's smooth final decent. Twenty minutes later, she was watching from the open door as the aircraft's small mini-stairway unfolded hydraulicaly. Her throat tightened slightly-so much often hung on the first contact...

*wonders how long Morgana would survive in DA, wearing the clothes she wears on the picture*

ic:

"Finally!" Manfred Weinstein was bored to hell. Fifteen minutes late arrival...

They stood aside the plane, waiting for Morgana to leave.

Impressive encounter suit... nice design.
Don`t even dare... this is important.

Morgana slowly stepped down the stairway, an amazing view, even in her encounter suit.

Manfred bowed. "Welcome in DA. I`m Manfred Weinstein, from the diplomatic corps of the Associated Council of Incorporated and Private Corporations. This..." He pointed at his companion, "is Ms. Marianne Weintraub, my priate secretary."
Marianne bowed as well.
"I hope DA does not look as horrible as the people tend to describe it... well..." he stopped, watching one Quetzacoatl chasing a four- eyes pigeon, actually roasting it with it`s fire breath. "Well... God i hate the mad scientists conference... anywa,y would you please follow me? Oh, and i assume your plane needs to be refuelled, your pilots are welcome in our own pilots lounge. So is anybody else, of course." He hesitated. "The hotel is in the same building our negotiations will take place. I hope this is... suitable for you. Anyway, if there is nothing else, we can drive straight to the hotel."
15-11-2003, 14:24
[i don't have a wide variety of pictures to use-but the encounter suit isn't all that different...the parts of her skin that would be exposed in her normal clothes would look considerably blurry, a necessary compromise between aesthetics and safety, but otherwise it's designed to look like as much like her ordinary clothing as it possibly can.]
IC:
Morgana bowed to Manfred.
"Thank you. I must say, some of the tales about your country are wild exagerations.... your local wildlife certainly seems most interesting. I cna certainly understand that, given certain...environmental considerations... the hotel's location within the same building as the conference rooms is most reasonable. My pilots, however, will spend the least possible time here-no insult to your hospitality, but you see we stupidly neglected to prepare the airplane for the local rain. Some technicians are going to get a monstrous pay-fine for that one... the flight staff will of course see that the refueling is chagred to the appropriate expense account in FF&L. Well then, i don't think there's anything else, so i'll follow you to the hotel..."

ooc: I doubt a PH of 3.5 is actually able to damage the hull of the plane... it`s about the same level coca cola has...

---

ic:

"Very well then, if you would please follow me?" Politely, Manfred shows Morgana the way.

It doesn`t take them too long to leave the airport, It`s a relatively small one, only for 'special occasions'.

While they are leaving, the cleaning crew enters the plane. It´s pretty much... perfect, at least in terms of organisation.

While they drive through the city, Morgana has more then enough time (Well, half an hour) to become familiar with the place. The buildings, mostly in a shifting black (sometimes other colours, but all of them rather drak, depressing), and literally reaching up to the clouds, are rather impressive, and seem to be existing in practically any possible form.

There are surprisingly few people in the streets, it`s about midday.Only occasional Quaddras disturb the ride... this animals, looking like giant wild boars, overrun parts of the city a few days ago.

"Well, there we are." Manfred pets the car and politely, he opens the door for Morgana.

The building looks rather... small, not exactly impressive. It`s quite obvious someone wanted to have it representing the charme of old architecture... unfortunately, this someone hadn`t been successful.

However, entering the entrance hall, it looks way better. The furnitures are actually quite good- looking, actual imports as DA itself isn`t exactly great in furniture production.

"Welcome to the 'Maison Blanche'" the receptionist greets them. Unlike Manfreds private secretary, she is actually quite a view... well, at least for Angstians.
16-11-2003, 15:32
[ooc: coca-cola can disolve coins...if the airplane's exposure is short, it won't do much more than damage the paintworks though.]

By the time they arrived to the hotel, Morgana's certainty that DA deserved every part of it's name was entirely confirmed. Everything seemed calculated to inspire attacks of angst in casual visitors....Morgana, however, was not a casual visitor, and the thought of the paycheck she would get for this easily overode the décor. Plus, a quick apraisal showed the Angstians to be quite effective, and the Weinstein guy was as polite as she could expect.

While the hotel's architecture was abominable, inside it seemed quite comfy, and she wouldn't be seeing it from the outside much anyway.
"Thank you", she said to the receptionist."Mr Weinstein, shall i get to...settle in...or shall we start on the job immediately?i can deal with either case."

"Oh... i think setting in is pref..." He stops, watching two men in dark suits and sunglasses coming near from behind Morgana.

"Morgana Silviarena, you`re accused of espionage for a hostile foreign power and hereby arrested due to national security concerns." The other of the two men violently grabs her arms and handcuffs her behind her back.

Weinstein looks puzzled, almost shocked. "But... but..."
"I`m sorry, we couldn`t inform you, the risk was too high. I hope we have your cooperation."

Then the two men leave, with Silviarena.

---

Meanwhile, at the airport, the local personal is engaged in a rather friendly conversation with the crew of the FF&L plane. Well, friendly until a phone call for one of the locals arrives. He answers only with a short 'Yes.'.

The next thing that happens is that the FF&L crew watches right down the barrels of a dozen guns. "You`re accused of working for a hostile foreign power and hereby arrested."

---

Hours later:

ABC: "Today, soldats arrested several employees of Falas, Falas and Lindon. According to internal sources, FF&L is suspected to be just a CACE fake company to infiltrate and destabilise the capitalist markets. Further information is not yet available."

ooc: Really, why risking it when you knew there was a chance i read said thread...

ooc: Just so you know how i got that information...

And btw, you RPed it correctly, setting FF&L up near CACE territory (although i, personally, would have searched for a neutral, possibly non- RP nation to operate as base... less suspicious, although more expensive), but one would think such an action is suspicious, don`t you think so?

We have created a corporation called 'Falas, Falas & Lindon" from, err, a secret a budget and hope to soon be able to use it to worm into capitalist business circles. However, we'd be interested in knowing if this has CACE approval. Also, we' like to know if any of our allies would be willing to help us get this sham working.

"Our sources, although unfortunately not anymore existant, are rather reliable.

However, as we have already finished interrogation, we will most likely be able to sent her back on the next flight out... If we get clearance, that is. I`m sure this is acceptable to you."

*would have liked a small description of what Morgana feels etc.. Well...*

Northern DA, The manor:

"We checked her. No pills, nothing she could kill herself with. Well, i assume they didn´t expect it."
"It`s not like they are as cracy as The Reich and start suicide missions... well, ok, they are, but in another way."
"Yah... so, what now?"
"Mhm... Althena said she wants her and the crew of their plane stricktly isolated. Highest security level."
"Erm..." He looked puzzled. "Why?"
"Something... else. They agreed to sent them back, but it looks like there is something... special happening.

Still northern DA, The manor, this time in a cell deep in the underground.

"So, again, your liasons, the government officials responsible for the whole idea, accounts in neutral capitalist nations... you know what we want."
The soldats officer looked gently at Morgana, although his entirely black uniform made him look rather creepy. No physical, not even psychological torture was involved. Actually, he seemed to be rather... uninterested in the interrogation.

---

Southern DA, the airport the plane landed:

"Ok... so... no organic hull?"
"Yes."
"But... optic stealth WITHOUT an organic hull is... hard. I mean, the thing would blow up all electronic stuff within a 500m radius."
"I know, but it is necessary. Besides, who knows what the command is planning? Anyway, do what you can, we do not have all the time in the world."

ooc: I know you don`t accept my psiwank, therefore the interrogation... well, ok, thats the reason you wont get that people back because i WILL psiwank on them... just not for anything CACE related...
20-11-2003, 18:43
[ooc: how did you lay your hands -ICly- on that document? it was a discrete conversation held in the White Room, where you'd have to RP like hell to get any spies in. Sailune has never existed ICly, so that kind of gives you a problem... against SeOCC and co. you might have a case for making them swallow the Sailune affair, because their plot was a de facto acknowledgement, but i never acknowledged it and never would....of course, what i've tried isn't all that different in practice, and i'm willing to stretch and admit you've got her, but you'll need another explanation...one that involves spies on Timan, for instance ;) also, when it comes down to the plane's crew, they essentially know nothing....well, they might have found FF&L popping up so suddenly a bit strange, but they don' thave anything to tell you about anything. ]
20-11-2003, 19:08
"The Manor"
Morgana controlled herself. Something had gone badly wrong, and she'd have to find out what....until the, she forced herself to look puzzled. She was well-trained, but she knew it wasn't her best act...her expression would look fixed and unnatural to a good interrogator.
"What are you guys talking about? why the ehck did you just grab me?me, spy for the CACE?" she forced herself to add disgust and contempt to the word, steeling herself for any torture which might follow...
Der Angst
21-11-2003, 10:18
ooc: Actually, You know my RP excuse for sailune. If CACE demands it, it can play a small revolution where the corrupt politicians are thrown out. However, i saw the document, i have the information. Now, if it had been an open forum and the tag 'ooc knowledge', i wouldn`t have it... But no problem with the planes crew, can´t be that hard to organise it all with just a few men in the top ranks, just like i did it. Now, the planes crew... means that Morgana knows about the origins or not (Can live with both, think both is easily enough possible.)

---

ic:

"Tsk..." The interrogator sighed.
Shall i scan her?
Not necessary. If she wants to say anything, let her say it, if not... then not. Anyway, have a break.
Now he was surprised. After all, this had been an excellent chance. But hey... if his superiors said it...
"Well... if you prefer it this way, you can wait here. It`s not like we absolutely need that information, anyway. If you need anything, let us know. I`m going to to take my daily caffaine." He yawned. "And damn, i need it..."

Hour later:

Darkness.

Well, not really darkness... the walls emitted some dim light... luminescence.

It had been a long way, perhaps a kilometer. They had walked in silence all the way down. Pretty creepy, actually. However, it was unlikely that Morgana was actually frightened... if not for her training, then for the morphium she had received two hours ago.

Finally, they hit a room. It was brightly lit, and a few men and women in white coats were waiting for them.

The walls seemed to pulse, one could see strange lines... veines, one would think, if one didn`t know it were really just walls.

In the center of the nearly empty room was a chair, and a small table beneath it.

"Sit down."

ic:

"Ok, lets go to work..."

From this moment on, not a single word was spoken.

Surprisingly enough, they did not torture her.

A man with a black uniform sat in front of her, watching her with his tiny, red eyes. Slightly interested, but not overly impressed, or so it seemed.

Fears, that they would perhaps rape her (After all, there were rumours about the behaviour of Angstian troops under foreign soil, and not exactly the nicest), were obviously unecessary. They didn´t even touch her, except for the moment a small metal plate was fixed on her forehead. Morgana could feel some sort of tickling.

"Electric current. Don`t worry, it wont hurt, tickles a little, though."

It was true. It didn`t hurt. Something else hurt. In her mind. It didn`t come from the outside, it was directly in her mind...

She could feel it, how it ripped her apart... Her appointment for this mission <snip>, her time in high school <snip>, her first time <snip>, her childhood <snip>...

The romantic meeting at the sea <snip>, her eighteens birthday <snip>, that beautiful cake of grandma <snip>...

"Make sure the process is clean. Nothing must remain. Reprogramming in...?"
"Four hours minimum. More likely six."
"Ok."

The same process was executed with the crew of the plane...

Oh, for a psychic post of yours, please notice that this is not magic (Perhaps physically impossible, but i have at least semi- scientific explanations *cough*).

Think of telepathy as a wireless connection between two, well, brains. Comparable to a wireless Lan, to think of it. Using 'Mental firewalls' (yes, this and all the other stuff i mention here exists in DA) is a pretty good protection. Scanning 'programs', 'uploaded' into the brain can work just like your computer`s virusscanner. Theoretically, it is possible to 'build' a 'special sector' in your brain for a memory backup (At least partially), although this would be near to impossible without actual telepathic help (The rest can be done using strange machines). Exercises like calculating, quoting lyrics or simple sentences in endless repetitions wont work well, though. Strong electromagnetic fields around you (no, not the earth one...) would help as well... as a matter of fact, they would render my attempts useless, but of course, that is hardly an option...]
