RNN Report

Sariah Sa'Fyre: Well, In other news, it's one thing for people to come to Raysia preaching false docterine, but quite another for them to bring brainwashing machines and kilos and kilos of drugs. A dozen Karzakistan missionaries were arrested last night in northeast Portland and southeast Vancouver. Raysia intelligence has been on the lookout for these mad men, who have been classified as a terrorist threat to our nation. It is assumed that Karzakistan knew about this and tried to cover their missionaries as... get this John, Drug Dealers!

John Hatch: Heh heh, you would never think an organization trying to get off the number 3 spot on Raysia's shoot-to-kill-on-sight list would want to move up to position number 2! The only thing above that are Terror Hippies... remember those?

Sariah: Oh, right, the ReSaints, right? What a joke! I'm sure the Raysian Defense Force is already hard at work to get rid of these super-heretics.

John: Speaking of that, all 12 captured so far, once brought to court, pleaded guilty to 3 counts of Illegal Mind Alteration in the second and 3rd degrees. They are currently in jail, but are set for semi-public execution in 3 days, and all further K missionaries will be shot on sight. So if you ever see 12 guys thrown off a 60 story building, be sure to snap a picture and email it to:

((OOC: Don't spam him... I'm kidding :P))

Sariah: *giggles* Yep! Oh, and in case you didn't know, civillians with gun responsibility licenses, do not shoot these people on sight!

John: Yes, please don't, unless you are sure you can prove they are Karzakistan Missionaries!

Sariah: Heh heh, In weather, today will reach a record low high of 42 degrees! So button up, and be sure to watch out for falling uber-heretics! haha sorry, I couldn't help myself!

John: Heh, that's all for today's news, see you at 6 o'clock.

Karzakistan sends several rather angry letters to your diplomatic corps, protesting the execution of their citizens, however it seems that the flow of missionaries has been cut down. On the other hand there is a sudden jump in student visas to enroll in pharmeceutical school from karzakistan. None of the students speak much about their religion, and they all seem to be good followers of the state sanctioned religion of Raysia, almsot too good of followers for people from another country.

Notes:

Raysia has freedom of religion (but not FROM religion, btw)

Raysia has an extreme prohibition on all non-medical mind-altering substances

Even caffeine is strictly regulated (no more than 10mg per fl. oz.)

Non-Medical Alcohol is prohibited

Tobacco is Prohibited

Every drug you could think of... most likely prohibited.

Customs is strong, and you are lucky to even smuggle that stuff through.

If some of our citizens did decide to join your "schools," they would have a hard time getting back in, because upon their return they would have to go through drug testing.

Our citizens database keeps track of all visas and citizenships a person has... so if we suspect them of smuggling, they will get investigated.

It would be way out of your league to try to sell drugs, especially when only 2% of the pop is even somewhat interested in that kind of stuff.

The students from karzakistan spend their time getting pharmeceutical licenses, and take jobs as respectable pharmacists. the only oddities noticed in their behavior are a strong tendency to suggest to people with any sort of throat irritation that tussin cough syrup may be the most efective remedy, and a strong tendency to talk with customers and coworkers as well about the meaning of life, and means of discovering that meaning. They are very hesitant to discuss their opinions of the missionaries who have been exceuted, and the few that still are (most have stopped arriving) but when they do express an opinion on it it is usually that it is tragic that these people are being killed, but that they were foolish and disrespectful to flaunt the laws of Raysia after this fine country was so kind as to allow them to enter. They are almost never critical of the government, aside from in those few unavoidable circumstances where there is obvious corruption by an individual, however they are quite critical of the neighboring nations, and have often been heard to suggest that the nation of Raysia would be better able to exist in peace and prosperity in a different region.

Talks have already begun in Raysia to move their delegacy back to their former region, with Quinntonia and all their other friends.

After recieving complaints from some patients experiencing unforementioned side effects, several scientists begin to run some tests on "tussin." When they find it similar to a drug the Karzakistan missionaries brought earlier, Tussin is immediately banned, and anyone who ever prescribed it has been arrested or fled the country. Those arrested have been thoroughly questioned, with some people being given shorter sentences after discovering they only recommended it after another doctor told them to... those doctors have been arrested as well, and those who are Karzakistan have been executed immediately, with extreme prejudice.

On a related note, all peoples immigrating from Karzakistan are under close watch now, regardless of complaints of "discrimination." And they will also find it VERY hard to enter the country.

EDIT: Also, several people have begun to investigate the Karzakistan religion, but anyone caught practicing is immediately banished from the nation.

((OOC note, the people of Karzakistan are known as Karzakists))

After several Karzakists are arrested for perscribing or reccomending a substance that was legal at the time of reccomendation the government of karzakistan sends a very angry letter to the diplomatic headquarters of the nation of Raysia, amidst the vagaries of diplomatic relations there is a not terribly polite request for some sort of recompense, as the crime that was commited was not a crime when it was commited, and penalizing people for things that were not illegal when done is highly immoral. There are also several very thinly veiled threats, which, given karzakistan's practically nonexistant military seem to be specious, however the missive is accompanied by the address of the diplomatic corps of the holy empire of evil oranges, and a few notes that this is a very large, economically and militarially powerful nation that is closely aligned with Karzakistan when it comes to matters of tolerance for karzakist missionaries.

Also, any people banished for the practice of the Karzakist religion are welcomed with open arms by Karzakistan, from where they are free to emigrate to Evil Oranges, if they prefer a fairly facist state to one that attempts toward Socialist Anarchy.

*Letter to Karzakistan Government*

Raysia agrees to wire 250 Million dollars to Karzakistan to be distributed to the families of those killed. Raysia only asks that you cease these attempts to bring drugs to Raysia. If you want to preach, go ahead, some may listen, we don't mind. But bringing drugs and brainwashing techniques is most certainly forbidden here.

Consider this a polite "Go away" bribe.

Also, on a further note, Karzakists are completely banned from Raysia until such time as this matter is resolved.

All further executions have been halted in favor of shipping them out of the country.

If you agree to stop bringing or pushing these drugs in Raysia, we will consider allowing tolerance for your religion and people and let them back in.

Untill then, agree to get out and we'll give you the money. If you continue to try to send people in, we will take action again.

*end of letter*

On another note, many of those banished have agreed to emigrate... most of those have been socially outcast for some time anyway, and now that it was official, they were eager to leave.

Raysia is socially conservative, thus Liberals and Socialists aren't very common.

The government of Karzakistan accepts the money, which is distributed to the families of those executed, and henceforth all those arriving from karzakistan are notably clean of any form of mind altering substance. little preaching is done, as the use of psychedelic sacraments is a corew part of the karzakist religion, however they do describe for many the incredible spiritual revelations that they have recieved, and encourage them to take a trip to karzakistan or the any other region in the united church of dxm region so that they can experience these things for themselves. No people try to sneak into Raysia, so these discussions do not occur until relations have been noramalized once more. The government of karzakistan also provides a complete biochemical description of the drugs most commonly used by the rogue missionaries to assist in any efforts to normalize those affected by them. None are physically addictive and in most cases mental addiction is quite mild. the primary effects are an oppenness to new ideas along, of course, with the psychedelic effects, possible suggestions for rehabilitation to social norms are included, unfortunately most of the more effective ones include the usage of the same or different psychedelic drugs to open the mind to change. The government of Karzakistan apologizes for the irresponsible behavior of some of its citizens, although it continues to stand by the right of those that were executed to reccomend and perscribe tussin, as it was legal at the time.
12-11-2003, 22:43
Raysia gives no comment on the fact that Tussin was neither illegal or legal at the time.

As for relations and preaching etc, Karzakists have begun to be allowed back in, but are throughly screened for drugs.

The public does not take to it too well, but they tolerate it. A total of 950,000 eventually convert with legal documentation. (yes, Religious conversion is a LEGAL process here :P)

Although testing and alteration experimentation has begun on the drug to see if there is a way to limit the effects, The majority of Raysia's religious population suggests that the Karzakists find real happiness, instead of artificial euphoria. Thusly, most people have rejected the religion, and they tend to think less of Karzakists, but they tolerate them.

Official statistic: Karzakists make up 0.1% of the total population
