The Duke slowly shuffles to his chambers, exhausted from days upon days of tedious negotiations with neighboring star systems.

"Finally, we're done. Peace at last."

He sinks into his chair, only to be instantly awakened by blaring alarms.

"Sir, this is General Salm. I need to speak with you, immedietly."

"Enter. What's the problem? We just finished the negotiations, this is not a good time."

"The negotiations are the problem, sir."

"What's wrong with them?"

"They exist you idiot."

The Duke stumbles backwards, shocked at the brazen insult.

"They leave our nation open to attack. You've given our enemies all our secrets. You have stripped us bare. You have given everybody out the keys to our Empire."

"No, I've helped usher in an age of peace. We can finally live without fear."

"No fear? Are you insane? We should fear more now than ever. You'e strengthening our enemies. You are an idiot, and unfit to continue to rule."

He slowly turn to the door, opening and and letting in dozens of armed guards. He turns back, his thumb-gun now plainly visible.

"We have judged you an incompetent and unworthy of your tital. You are hereby stripped of your heritage, and setenced to death."

Before the Duke can even utter a word of terror the energy from Salm's hands lances out and burns him down. The Grand Duke Solomon Klonor, co-founder of the Galactic Alliance, founder of the Inter-Stellar Alliance Organization, and Hegemon of the Klonor Empire was dead.

In an announcement made to the population the next day the new leader reveals his new plans.

"For to long the old Duke has drained our nation dry. He has supplied the fleets of our enemies, given them new technologies, even aided them in their wars. NO MORE! From now on our nation shall take the lead. We will no longer be taken advantage of by our neighbors. Today, the Klonor Empire is born anew!"

As you know, the galaxy, nay, the Universe, is in constant turmoil. We must make friends with those who we can trust if we are to survive. I do not know if word has reached you yet, but a Klonor ship recently helped us in an encounter against one of our greatest enemies. Of this, we are grateful, and though we do not wish to further your involvement in our wars, we would like to propose an alliance.

I know that we are great competitors in the space navy industry, but I believe that together we could be an unstoppable force.

I am not offering a trade agreement at this time, merely a military alliance. A friendly agreement.

No need, by leeching off all the Alliances that I just quit (thread in II) I've managed to build up quite a good fleet with almost no expense to myself. Yay for being evil!

Why dont you just shoot each other instead of bragging whos got bigger weapons?

I could destroy both of these countries if I wanted to, with little true difficulty. We have true superiority, a powerful military with some strong allies. And we've survived the test of time without rebellion.

CEO Jacen Capsule reads the message from the new leader of klonor, smiles, then takes a big official looking pen, and pulls a list out of his drawer. He writes in the name "klonor" on one list, and harshly crosses it off another list.

He laughs to himself as he does this, and his Wife does the same when she walks in and reads the message.

Hey, anybody have a spare planet I can borrow? For some reason I no longer want to be living in Klonor's capital system.

The Volgan Confederacy has aligned itself with Klonor, on the principle that Duchies and Monarchies are outdated and therefore against the will of the President (Dictator). A military junta is much more reliable, we have found. The Volgan Space Navy is standing by to prevent action against Klonor.

What did you ever do for me? You know, besides giving me a planet, giving me a free fleet of ships, defending me when I was attacked, and cleaning up the atmosphere when Parthenon seeded it with radiation trying to kill Lands of Ages. Name one thing.

Bobaria has expressed belief that the new Klonor government will commit acts of aggression against them. The 5CN as a member of the GDA would like to know Klonor's position about expansion. In addition, the 5CN with the GDA will consider any acts of aggression against Bobaria as an act of war against us...

I haven't yet made a single threatening move or IC statement. Everybody is just assuming I will start wars soon and have already started picking who my targest will be. Their constant statements about me attacking Bobaria is what's making me want to attack Bobaria.

In response to the change of government and Klonors new expansionist policy, Vernii's Admilitary is increasing defences around Klonor's knossos portal in our system (Gregor).

The 15 million ton fortress Guardian has been towed within weapons range of the portal. A minefield of laser warheads has also been deployed, and a squadron of heavy cruisers has been stationed near the fortress as picket ships and customs vessels. Any merchant vessel registering to Klonor will be stopped and inspected. Any Klonor military ship will be warned once to leave our territory, if not, then it will be destroyed.

Actually you did make an odd statement towards me... about our next encounter... and how I wouldn't like it. I'm just giving you a hard time though... I hope you wouldn't think of attacking me.
