Sermon to the World

The old priest stood upon the balcony of his palace, hands resting lightly on the elegant gold railing. His wrinkled face took in the crowd below and his ornate robes of white, draped in purple and lined in gold, flowed serenely around him. "Good morning, people of the world. This days are times of great stress in all nations and among nations. I believe, of course, that the New Faith offers the solutions to all problems, if one but consults scripture. But I do not stand here today to seek converts but rather to speak for peace. There have been too many wars of late, between elves and humans, communists and capitalists. It is not the will of God that His children kill one another merely for belonging to different races. Nor does he will them tokill and to die over questions of the organization of their economy. And yet many do. There is violence within nations too. There are muggings in the street, murders, assault, almost on a daily basis in some countries. There is even violence within families. There are husbands who beat their wives and fathers who beat their own children...

((We're not that backwar...well, ok, yeah, but my other nation's a radical Marxist-Leninist worker's state, so...trying something different))

"All of this must stop. It is not something we may stop with simple force. Obviously, it is not something the New Faith, with its young and emergent position in the world is capable of stopping through militarty means. But my point goes deeper than that. Violence cannot be destroyed by violence. In can only be destroyed by proclaiming and holding staunchly to the principle of peace of earth and in the stars. The world has seen too many wars of late. The ethical theorists of our church have always relied heavily on Kant. We have always believed that the principle which will redeem the world is the very simplest of concepts, namely, to treat each and every rational being, of whatever race, of whatever species, of whatever political or religious convictions, as an end in themselves, as a will, as an agent, and not as a means to an end, not as a thing. We believe that adherence to this principle and only adherence to this principle promises to bring peace...
