ANN Broadcast (Assington News Network)

Today in a private ceremony, the President's brother Calin, was sworn into the office of National Foreign Minister. The position has been vacant for quite a time ever since the last NFM was slain by his pet monkey for unknown reasons.

ANN was able to get a few comments from the new NFM.

So, what are your feelings on this new job?

I am honoured to be in this position and shall fulfill my duties to the best of my abilitiy.

That's all good and well but what are the rumours about Karolyn Von Klyne?

*A unusual silence.*

Rumours? I'm aware of no rumours. Anyway, I must be off. Have to move into my new office. Good day.

The NFM left abruptly and made no furhter comments.

ANN Announcement

NFM Calin has extended an invitation to all nations of this world in a worldwide broadcast today.

As my first act as National Foreign Minister, I would like to invite officials from all willing nations to attend a summit in Assington to discuss alliances, trade and other issues of interest. You will all be accomodated in the presidential palace in Diamond City. All nations are welcome.

ANN attempted to further question Calin about Miss Von Klyne but he refused to comment.

ANN Announcement

The new NFM was seen leaving the presidential palace today. ANN caught up with him for a few questions.

Calin, may we ask where you are going?

I am going out to lunch. Must you people follow my every move?

Yes.... that's what I get paid for. So where are you going?

I am going to meet a friend. That is already more than you need to know.

Would this friend happen to be Karolyn Von Klyne?

Calin sighs.

I have told you that Miss Von Klyne's presence in Assington has nothing to do with me. She is overseeing the establishment of Roanian Pharmaceuticals.

But weren't you the one to propose such a business deal to your brother?

Yes. Because our pharmaceutical industry was of poor quality and needed to be of a higher standard. The minister of health and the President both agreed. Now there is nothing more to talk about.

Calin disabled the camera and microphone with a psychic blast and left in his car. ANN was unable to follow as several security gaurds prevented is from leaving until Calin was long gone.

Karolyn was resting in her mansion when Jeeves, her loyal butler, knocked on her bedroom door. "Ma'am, there is a horde of reporters outside."

"Ah, good. Which speech can I use?"

"No, ma'am. They want to ask about the rumours of a relationship between you and Calin."

"What? There were no rumors!" She shot up. "Where did thes..." She noticed Jeeves' guilty look. "This is your way of telling me I'm not paying you enough, isn't it."

Calin instructed his driver to take the secret route to where he is meating with Karolyn.

Calin wanted to make sure Karolyn wasn't having any trouble with the media. He pulls out his mobile.

"Karolyn. Are you having any problems with the media? I don't want them spoiling our date."

Calin wanted to make sure Karolyn wasn't having any trouble with the media. He pulls out his mobile.

"Karolyn. Are you having any problems with the media? I don't want them spoiling our date."

Karolyn looked out the limo at the armed motorcade surrounding her. "No, not really, Calin. I was thinking of making our relationship public, but they seem to be enjoying themselves far too much."

Calin grinned.

"I suppose we could make things public. It wouldn't do any harm and they would eventually get over it."

"Whatever you say, Calin." Karolyn sighed and crossed her legs. She winced as her limo drove over an overzeolous reporter.

Calin arrived at the secluded restaurant..

"I think we should go public when we feel the time is right. Until then, they can keep guessing."

Karolyn entered, and kissed him. "Whatever you say, Calin." She looked around. "Any reporters here?"

Calin grinned.

"Nope. We're completely secluded, apart from the cooks."

Calin held out his arm and indicated the table setup on the nearby deck.

"Shall we?"

"Yes, let's." She moved forward, smiling.

All of a sudden, the cooks radio switched from music to the following, chilling broadcast.

A terrorist attack has been carried out by Jemaah Islamiyah against Roania. Current death toll is 1000, and counting.

Calin's face went blank.

"Shit. I think we should get back to the Presidential manor."

Karolyn siezed up as it went on.

Believed to be amongst the casualties was noted philanthropist and corporate warlord Bruno Von Klyne.

She calmly stood up. "Yes... that might be a good idea."

Calin rushed back to his limo, allowing Karolyn to enter first.

"Driver, back to the manor. And turn on the radio."

Calin's limo sped off, Karolyn's passengerless one not far behind.

Karolyn just sat there, holding on to Calin's arm. "I..."

Calin held Karolyn within his grasp.

"We'll find out what happened. We'll get over there ASAP."

Tears began to roll down Karolyn's face.

And this just in... Prince Alexander has ordered that unless the plotters behind this attack are handed to the Polizei immediately, every muslim in Roania shall suffer.

Calin soaked every scrap of information presented to him.

"This is not good."

The limo continued to speed toward the manor. only minutes away.

Karolyn said nothing as the limousine drew into the palace.

As usual, a horde of journalists was out the front.

Calin pushed open the door and thrust all journalists out of the way with his psychic abilities. He helped Karolyn out of the limo and they both rushed into the palace.

They made their way into Calis' office immediately to find him intently reading a message.

The journalists all milled about. Finally, one realised... "Wait! That was Calin! And Karolyn Von Klyne!"

Once inside, Karolyn started to weep copiously.

Calis looked up.

"I haven't been able to get onto Roania. It seems are very hectic."

He sighed.

"Karolyn, perhaps you should try? Or would you like to leave for Roania immdeiately?"

Karolyn just stared blankly at the wall. "I..." She started to cry again.

And... it has been confirmed that amongst the 1000 dead, is Bruno Von Klyne.

Calin moved to hold Karolyn within his arms.

Calis bowed his head.

"I'm sorry."

Terror in Roania

Calin and Karolyn taught together! Couple has been outed!

Calin looked over the paper in disgust.

"Even in a situation like this, they are still going on about us."

Calis nodded.

"It is pathetic. We have a plane arranged, heading for Roania. It's on standby and awaiting Karolyn's decision."

Karolyn appeared, dressed in a closefitting black dress. "I'm... ready to go." She announced, moving over and hugging Calin close to her.

Calin returned the squeeze.

Calis nodded.

"I can't come with you, but send my regaurds. The limo is waiting out front to take you to the jet."

Karolyn moved to Calis's desk, and kissed his cheek. "Thank you..."

She turned, and went to the limo with Calin.

Calin followed Karolyn into the limo. Immediately it sped off, towards the airport.

"I hope everyone is okay..." Karolyn said, as the plane flew from Assington towards Roania.

"So do I."

Calin held Karolyn as they settled in for the flight.
