A Darkness in Tordor.((The latest Tordoran war has began))

Tordor

In Tordor, ruled now for 14 years under the lovable but slightly insane and homocidal Queen Seria, a faction arose in secret. They were angred over the Tordoran Wars and the failed coup. They wanted revenge agaist the IDI nations for the humalating defeats and agaist Europa Brittania for helping to stop the Coup and they expecally wanted revenge agiast Cyberutopia for their destruction of the Old Tordoran capital and another major city. They began to plot to kill the Queen, put her daughter on the throne, a mere 6 year old child and start a war of revenge. They began to secretly gather people to their cause and secretly hire mercenaries and soon away from the ears of the court and the queens spies rumors spread of a plot agaist the throne.

OOC:Well Rumor would be heard just not by Queen Seria's Government plus its a little hard to hire that many mercenaries without people starting to wonder even a little. But not to much other than vague rumors at the moment, but later is another story.

In a shadowed room, a meeting of the leading plotters met, all attended were hooded cloaks that hid their faces and only one man, the leader, Duke Hirnisimi Ukeri knew who all the leaders present were. They were members of the Neo Tordoran Peoples Liberation Party. One spoke. "Preparations are going good, our men are being trained well for the coming restoration of our Late Glorious Leader, Chairman Woe's Dream and the hiring of the Mercenaries is going smoothly." Another spoke. "The ships and subs for the Peoples Liberation Navy are being secretly built and hidden is going smoothly." A Third spoke up. "The Training of the secret Para military police is going smoothly; they will be ready to take on the Royalist scum's police forces soon." A Fourth, Duke Hirnisimi himself spoke. "Good, everything is going according to plan. We will begin to move advance units into place. For Chairman Woe’s Vision." The others repeated this chant as they left the room and headed back to their operations.

OOC:Yep its a revial of the monsterious Chairman Woe's party. The guy that was like Stalin, Mao and Hitler rolled into one.

IC:
"It could be anything. That's a trouble country. If we jumped in every time we heard rumours..." The Secretary for Foreign Affairs looked up from the report that had been handed to him.

"But we cannot afford to let events overtake us," the Prime Secretary pointed out sternly. "Put our forces on alert. I'd hate to see a new war, but..."

"Should we warn the Tordoran government?"

The Prime Secretary considered it.
"Not yet," he said at last. "Not until we have something more substantial. In the meantime, our agents are to be commended, and told to keep up the good work. And if possible, dig a little deeper..."

OOC:No but those were some of his fanitcal followers that escaped from Tordor, by then he had been vaperized by Cyberutopia's Charged Particle cannon along with a 2000 yard wide half mile deep chunk of the capital during the part of the Tordoran wars with the IDI nations including Teritora. He was a Real evil guy who had all the Elves, Jews, clerics, mulisms, Foreigners and other people rounded up into death camps and he also had King Ashagar, King of Teritora at the time assassinated. Like I said for a comparion of him, put Hitler, Stalin and Mao together.

Lord Ken read some reports of rumors coming out Tordor from RSC operatives operating there. "Hmm, nothing more than vague rumors but Tordor has always been a troublesome nation." He sent orders for intellegence operations to be keyed up slightly. He did not want unwelcome surpises coming out of Tordor, the last that happened King Ashagar had been assassinated.

As the months passed it was becoming noticable that large numbers of Mercenaries were being hired and dispearing seemly off the face of the earth and as the training of the NTPLA forces continued even more disturping rumors spread. Finally set time came with all the TLPA troops in place, on a cold december night late christmas eve, they launched their opening assault. Artillery opened on Tordor's cities and royalist bases as hundreds of TLPA Fighters and bombers took to the air and began attacking Royalist miltary bases across Tordor. The suprise was so complete that in the frist thirty minutes nearly half of Tordor fell and a full third of the Royal army was wiped out competely and a forth was forced to surrender, nearly half the Royal Airforce was destoryed on the ground before they could even take to the air and an eighth of the Royal navy was destroyed in port. However as time went by the Royalist forces entrenched themselves began to hold agaist the onslaught and the surviving ships of the Royal Navy set sail to sea even as the TLPA's warships set sail out to sea as well to wage battle agaist the surviving Royal Navy.

Meanwhile at the Europa Brittanian base the peace was shattered as the TPLA launched an Air and land attack against them. Dozens of Bombers and close support fighter bombers began flying towards the base from hidden nearby air bases. At the same time hundreds of hidden Artillery opened up on the base as two full infantry divisions and a tank Divison stormed towards the base in the darkness of the cold night. The Civil war had began, Chairman Woe's followers had began their path to revenge.

OOC: I missed the set-up...but I'll play from here.

IC:
Chemel Kligerman, the Western Asian Intelligence Advisor to the President and the effective leader of all of Western Asia's intelligence services, was not happy to be bothered during his lunch, the small part of his day that was ever truly his own, but the message blinked brilliantly on the large CommScreen across from his desk:

URGENT MESSAGE!!!

Grudgingly, he tapped on the touch-pad on his desk and entered the proper codes. A few seconds later, he'd forgotten all about his lunch and was typing rapidly on that same, once-despised, system as he sent out urgent messages to the President and the Defense Minister.

The messages were short, but they communicated more than 10 pages of other text might've stated:

"Old Tordor has returned."

Although there was some concern over the past few weeks and months with some rumors of insurgents and plotters, but nothing that had really set off any warning bells.

A short time before, a 'deep cover' agent had dissapeared without warning, but his two-week grace period had yet to expire and this agent was known for his deep cover operations.

The urgent message bore some early reports of a massive, coordinated strike against the new Tordorian government...reportedly by followers of the expired Chairman Woe. Although contact in Tordorian affairs since Western Asia left the IDI had been few and far between, this issue was clearly of concern. Since the fall of the old government, Tordor had acquired amazingly powerful weapons--and the reports of the same government collapsing upon itself under the onslaught of insurgents was good news for nobody.

Within the hour, Western Asia's SA-43 Hammerhead, SB-43 Mako, and SAE-43 Howler transatmospheric "SatStalker" squadrons were on high alert and ready to move. If those orbital weapons fell into the control of the insurgents then there would be no other option but to destroy them all.

The 7th Grand Naval Fleet was also placed on high alert and old IDI contacts were sought out. Cyberutopia was embroiled in its own little hellish civil war and the IDI had long been on the verge of uselessness.

The IDI just hasn't had a reason to be very active. This should get the Allaince juices flowing again and if it comes to it, on why nobody messes with the IDI.

IC: It was early morning in Teritora, the sun hadn't even risen yet when a garbed message arrived at the Palace where it was discrypted and shown to Lord Ken who woke the king shortly after reading it, after calling an emergency meeting of the Kings Council, the Teritoran Miltary was thrown into full alert. Also a message was sent to Kecha, it was time for something that had not happened for a years, a IDI meeting.
Western Asia
20-11-2003, 04:50
OOC: Teritora, I know that, but it's WA's reason for leaving so I have to stick with it. The real reason for leaving was that I was trying to disentangle myself from alliances and such at the time (though I have the highest respect for the IDI and its power) and I haven't had the opportunity to rejoin since then. This RP might see WA returning...

IC: Across Western Asia, preparations were being made for war and materiel was on the move to collection points for a possible war in support of the assaulted Tordorian government.

As the movements began to fill the military transportation pipelines, the news broke to the public. Pundits and newscasters had their opinions, not all of them relevant. Some of the old political scientists who opposed the withdrawl from the IDI ranted about the importance of supporting old alliances and of Western Asia's "imperative to ensure that peace and freedom are continued once the military is done."

Kligerman was unavailable, as were the President and Defense Minister Meretz...everyone was now in The Pit and working to make sense of the situation. A news conference was presented by a presidential spokesperson but she let on little more than that "the IDF has made preparations to act in defense of the rightful government" and has "taken steps to ensure that the power of the Tordorian WMDs will not fall into the hands of the wicked."

Now the trumpet summons us again - not as a call to bear arms, though arms we need; not as a call to battle, though embattled we are; but a call to bear the burden of a long twilight struggle, year in and year out, 'rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation', a struggle against the common enemies of man: tyranny, poverty, disease and war itself.

Gunfire erupted, shattering the lazy peace that had remained unbroken in almost a decade sorrounding Thornblack. Before the alarms had begun their shrill calls of warning, bodies slumped to the moist earth, seeping crimson into the uncaring soil- Brittanian bodies. Taking only a few minutes, precious though did life lost during them, automated defences screamed to life. Tactical computers instantly assigned the nocturnal attackers, and duly returned fire.

The chitter chatter of high velocity death rang out, High powered gatling cannons sweeping the perimeter walls clear of a rapidly clambering enemy. From deep within silos missiles tore free from their restrictive walls, ploughing up and into those who would dare raise a blade against men here only to right and protect.

Already the limited HighGuard avalible at the outpost completed arming themselves, some barely four minutes from their previously peaceful dreams as they doggedly ran upwards and manned the sparse battlements. The shrieking of Anti-Aircraft weaponry now sought to add its own insane call to the terrifying noise as it swept upwards.

Commander Ardent bellowed his commands, his harsh words cutting the screams of the dying and of weaponry too terrible to comprehend aside so his charges might comprehend. His mind computed even as he let rip his rifle, sweeping a section of wall clear for the few seconds it took for the numerically superior attackers to fill the void.

Ardent was no fool. He could see his own men were vastly outnumbered and caught completely by suprise.Thornblack would not last the night. Screaming at his subjunct, he gave the order.

"Transmit, priority Cyrillion. Thornblack comprimised, Tordorian uprising in progress. Heavy casualites and increasing. We will not last the night, but will sell ourselves as dearly as time and fate will allow."

The young man nodded, his pale, trembling hand reaching for his pistol as he made the dangerous run from his Commander's side to the Communications booth. Ardent watched as he disappeared from view, a great sigh escaping his heaving chest. Sadness weighed on him as he thought of the letter that would undoubtedly bring grief and despair to his parents. The letters that would signal the death of everyone whom were hemmed between these walls.

Within the centre of the compound, lofted high and fluttering in the cool night breeze, the Brittanian standard flew. Taking a final look at the very sum of what he stood for, he tore his VoxCaster and barked.

"Pull back, abandon the walls. Reload and withdraw. Form a cordon around the botanical gardens, we will make our stand."

Deep within the twisting corridors and weaving chambers that made up the Brittanian presence within Tordor, sat a great space. Its roof a shining dome of plexiglass. All manner of botanical life sprouted and thrived here, a place of rest and peace. Beautiful flowers of gentle red, blooming lazily as buzzing insects collected the precious pollen they yielded grew alongside ancient oaks, whose age defied and mocked any who claimed such around them, their green leaves swaying slightly.

But shortly it would become a killing field.

[i]Ardent moved amongst the trees he had known only as a relaxing influence. He nodded as each team completed their defence points, heaving massive cannons and heavy barricades into place. He offered a prayer to whichever diety cared to listen as an apology for the desecration that was soon to be released. No sooner had he finished and offered than the unmistakable sound of those that intruded sounded. Heavy boots clumping ahead unasuredly. Without a word, Ardent waited.

Trees swayed angrily, as if sensing the approach of an evil. Insects flew from the flowers, their interest in its bounty forgotten. The sounds grew louder, until rustling became apparent, and then he screamed.

"FIRE!"

Hastily mounted defence weaponry screamed to life. The soft, fertile earth was thrown upwards in a muddy shower as high explosive rounds turned the precious plant life to a pulp. Trees were savagedly strewn in half as bolter fire raked their trunks. Screams poured through the dying plantlife as the weapons fire found their mark, pulling down line apon line of rebel forces with only their death screams as a rememberence to their passing.

Rockets were lobbed high into the air, exploding with painful frequency. Moss was blasted from the surface of charred boulders as they fell back down to earth, blown from their original positions by blast upon blast. Ardent struggled with his foothold as the ground itself shook.

And soon, they were apon them. Gatling fire raked only metres from Brittanian feet as close combat ensured. A save melee as bayonet, rifle butt and limbs impacted against fellow man in a grim battle to decide victor from vanquished. Ferocity gave way to weary battling but neither side would yield until not a single survivor of either faction remained.

Ardent drew his sabre, throwing the protective scabbard away. His eyes scanned the scenes of violence a short distance ahead of him. Selecting the quarters he was most needed in, his walk accelerated to a run.

They would make them pay for every inch.

As the night went on, the battlelines between the TPLA and Royal forces continued to solidify with the rebels controling little more than half the country and beseiging the capital it self, however the Royalists were deterimed and used the mountious forested terrain to their advange as well as their superor training expecally for urban combat to turn the battles across tordor into entrenched battlelines between the two factions, while behind deep behind TPLA lines indivisals and bands of students of the Todoran School of Urban and Gurreilla warfare began to put their training to good use even as the TPLA tried to solidify its hold on its seized Territory. In the Air, Loyalist pilots worked in shifts since their wasn't enough planes to hold off the Air attacks of the rebels or surport the troops on the battle front, at sea a deadly game of cat and mouse began, as the Royal navy used its years of training to good use agaist the numerally superor rebel ships and below the waves Rebel and loyalist subs stalked each other.

At the Europa Brittanian base the assult contiued even with heaver than expected loses caused by the outnumbered but deterimed defenders. Tthe TLPA General in command had beem ordered to take the base, no matter how heavy the losses, they could not allow the base to used as a foothold agaist the TLPA.

Finally. Word had finally reached the Cyberutopians.

Despite the weakened state of the country due to the civil war which had been since resolved, it was undeniable that the TPLA was a massive threat to Cyberutopia and her allies. Surveillence sattelites now scanned the Tordorian soil at all hours, watching silently from above the clouds. The Comittee of War discussed their course of action for long nights, debating their different points of view. One thing was agreed upon by all of the Committee. The Particle Cannon controlled by Tordor was probably the biggest threat to Cyberutopia. No known defense was capable of defending against such a strike, and if the TPLA were to control it...

It was decided. The Particle Cannon must stay out of rebel hands. But, the Cyberutopian military was in shambles. The navy's admiral had been killed, the Minister of Defense was dead as well, and the army and air force had suffered heavy casualties. An emergency was called and the ragged remaining forces were called together for a hasty assembly.

But time was against them. The TPLA could break through the royalist lines at any time, and the Cyberutopians would not be ready. Only one feasable option was left. For the first time in many years, the Agents would have to be used in force. Tordor was in for it.

Now sucessfully, over the established safe zone, the pair of Gatekeepers orient themselves towards various targets across Rebel-held Tordor and bomb bays are opened to reveal the missiles mounted within.

As coordinates for strikes pour in, missiles are sent on their way, breaking past the speed of sound as they bear their payloads towards enemy infrastructure, troop formations, and armored groups. The strikes are not of a steady rythm or rapid pace, but the Gatekeepers find themselves to be well-employed.

OOC: The main loading of the GATEKEEPER units is the PDE-improved CALCM (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1866691#1866691), although a mix of other weapons are also included for more short-range and specialty applications. The next morning, a Western Asian naval fleet appeared within view of the shores of Tordor, off of Loyalist-held territories.

The task force was now assembled.

As the day progressed, a MEU was landed to provide security for coordination forces and equipment landing zones. The men of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit landed and easily secured the friendly beach in anticipation of the 13th MELMIU (Marine Expeditionary Light Mechanized Infantry Unit), which was due to arrive by Condor VTOL transporters and various landing vessels. The marines all came from the ships of the 9th Devastator Squadron.

By nightfall, the MEU and MELMIU were both landed and secured along the beachfront as the heavy-hitting ships of the 9th DS sit off of the coast. A few attempted rocket and missile attacks on the fleet vessels were easily thwarted with CIWS or other defensive weaponry and, for the situation, it turned out to be a fairly calm day for the IDF's task force.

The radars of the fleet, aided by those of the nearby Gatekeeper units, picked up on the radar signatures of the new assault as the light faded.

The Fleet Defense Destroyers, Cruisers, Aircraft Carriers, and other vessels armed with the powerful MTHEL II systems were first to respond. Although the low flight profile made it hard to find the missiles at first, the systems were able to adjust for the low-level fire. After a few RAM missiles were fired for some cheap shots at the targets, the MTHELs began to acquire and engage the sea-skimming targets. A mechanical humm was all that could be heard as the units went to work. While some of the missiles were defeated by the simple RAMs, the proven MTHELs did most of the work, each FDD MTHEL station knocking down a couple of the missiles before they were even able to enter the Fleet's Safety Zone. Several more missiles were destroyed as they began their 'pop up' routine, exposing themselves to the defensive batteries.

Less than a quarter of the missiles were able to approach their targets to within a few kilometers, but then the Millennium Gun CIWS stations opened fire, sending the expensive missiles into the surf. Aside from some minor shrapnel effects against a few small fleet craft, the ships of the line were all secured from damages.

The security level was boosted around the fleet and the vessels assigned to shore bombardment duties were readied for immediate action.

The Marines ashore are warned of approaching forces by the Gatekeeper units' monitors and set to work building temporary fortifications and reinforced earthen works to ready for the threat. Additional ammunition supplies are sent ashore and the Sentinels and UltraCobras are armed and readied for immediate action. The surrounding terrain is measured out and enemy approaches are recorded with mobile GPS and laser rangefinder units, the data is quickly sent to the heavy naval artillery and LAV-based mortar systems.

OOC: Missed the part about the pop-up the first time through, but that would mostly change what systems addressed the missiles. The ships use hull-mounted, phased-array radar systems that seek "below normal radar range," or down to about 3 feet above sea level in calm seas (understandably, abilities are limited in higher sea state levels due to surface 'noise' but the systems have software filters to allow low-level scans). The fleet is near the Gatekeeper units, which bear large internal radomes that bear greater radar scan ability than the JSTARs platform. The platform is set to detect and identify any motion within detection range, so the missiles would likely be noticed in time for the semiautomated defensive systems (RAM, Sea Sparrow, and Millenium Gun).

Closer in to the ships, within about 10km, specialized radars tied to the Millennium gun units can seek down to the surface of the water...in RL tests, they were able to identify and eliminate simulated diesel sub periscopes just at the surface a good bit away.

The MTHELs can reach down to within 1 km of the ships and have very little (1-2sec) shot-to-shot 'cool down' time for medium-level threats. The operators only need to identify and order targets for destruction and the computerized targeting establishes a routine where every few seconds a new target is acquired and destroyed by the beam. The MTHEL and Millennium gun systems are designed specifically with cruise-missile warfare in mind.

I will modify the entry above to reflect the maneuver.

The Rebels were unable to launch anymore sea borne missiles as the Tordoran Loyalists were using the four great Cruise missile silo bases to destory the enemy ships in any group larger than one ship in a three thousand mile radius and those ships not geting targeted had to fight the Loyalist ships and the subs were in a cat and mouse game with the Loyalist fleets.
