Raysian Citizens Database adds Religious Affiliations

The Raysian Citizens Database is a high-tech way of identifying who someone is simply by reading a signal broadcast from a ring worn by all Raysians.

The ring looks relatively simple, and has a small microchip and a transmitter inside the band. It constantly broadcasts (on a scrambled frequency) a barcode, which can be scanned by any police or military or government computer. That barcode activates a file at the RCD headquarters in Vancouver (The Capitol of Raysia) and that file gives the scanner any information he is qualified to access. The system is run on a wireless network, running through satellites, but it is very well encrypted, and has a good reputation for having some of the most advanced anti-hacker algorythms on the planet.

Some information that can be accessed by authorities (without warrant) is:
-Citizenship, duh
-Full Name
-Gender
-Race
-Detailed Photo
-Finger Prints
-DNA Scan for some
-Social Security Number
-Drivers License Number
-Any Other Licenses or Registrations
-Criminal Records
-Credit Reports
-Medical Records
-Military Service

And the biggest contraversy, just initiated today, is Religion. The Raysian Government is now starting a database record of religion. Many people think this move could leave to some very prejudice actions by the police etc, but the government assures that it is merely a crime prevention tactic, as well as a statistical aid.

One spokesperson for the department of internal security said "In the last 15 years, 70% of all crimes and terrorist attacks in Raysia have been traced to Atheists, Extremists, and Liberals. Thus it is obviously important that we find out who belongs to what religion. Yes, it is possible to lie about your religion on your next form fill-out, but we cross-reference this kind of stuff with family members and neighbors, and you'd have to pull off some really elaborate stunt to get past us."

So will the athiests be weaing armbands with little test-tubes on them or something? Somehow this is getting a bit too big-brother-esque to be considered a moral government.....
