Purchasing Space Dock

Vice Admiral Ashton sat in his quarters on the Torrent as he read the reports on the battle damage. It was quite bad, and many of the ships required refitting. The strikefighters were at a quarter strength, and half of the Capital Missiles had been fired. He glanced out the window at the Capsule Dock outside. He appreciated his allies generosity in letting the Task Force put to port here, but he could see the problems. No one carried CMs around here, and Strikefighters were not made in this dimension, either. He sighed and checked on the Capital Beam Array status. That was still being refitted as well. The problem was as clear as its solution. We need a Space Dock in this reality.

The TRSN was from a parallel dimension, and no damaged ships could make the Jump through the Void without being annihilated. Ashton picked up his comm. "Ensign?"

"Yes, sir?"

"Send out an open hail. We need to purchase rights to build a Space Dock from someone. We need offers."

OOC: Anyone willing to sell an old station for refitting or just an empty sector for building our Dock, please reply, and we'll RP out what/who/if I buy from.

we may have some associates who may be able to help.

access maybe provided in a free-fall oxy-nitrogen atmosphere. (a place anolgous to niven's smoke ring) approximately what volume do you require?

It would have to be able to handle up to six 1500/600/400m ships simultaneously, plus their support capacity. This would justify a 10km squared area, but 20km would be better to provide for maunfacturing/supply and RD Distribution. This statio would serve as The TRSN's forward Command Center, and would be the main Port in the NS Universe.

we can easily do a 3100 cubic kilometre volume. what terms can you offer?

we can offer in addition basic logistics support as well. simple bulk parts (nuts, bolts, cable), consumable supplies (water, food, air), and simple staffing

(semi-occ: since this is a free-fall environment, you can build in all directions.)
10-11-2003, 21:20
I can build you a 5000 cubic kilometre volume space dock with anything you want on it for the cost of about ohh, 25 trillion dollars.

Industrialized Serfs: We would be willing to offer you a front payment of 5 Trillion Credits, plus 5 trillion for three years. Or, for no downpayment, we would be willing to share out Force Beam technology and give 15 trillion over three years.

Great Eagth: We cannot afford a 25 Trillion Downpayment. Could we break this over multiple years?

A transmission comes from CEO Jacen Capsule, to the TRSN fleet in this reality, especially the one at the Capsule Colony dock.

"Greetings. We understand you are looking to set up a station. We can give you assylum on Triton, and we'd be more than happy to. However... we have received a subspace transmission that one of your fleets has been sending threatening messages... a Praetorian Janus or something. Can you responds ASAP? Thank you."

Ashton sat up in his command chair as the transmission came through. "Janus? What's he doing here-" He opened a channel. "Mr. Capsule, I do not know the Praetorian's purpose. They operate outside our parameters. All I know is that we're here to defend our allies in case of threats. I take that to mean all threats, so we'll have no part in any Praetorian games." he paused. "I don't know what's going on. I didn't even know he was here... I'll have my men check on this situation, and we'll inform you when we know more."

as we consider your offer we would like some additional information.

what is the nature of the force beam technology?

and approximate purchasing power of the credit.

Force Beam Technology is based on tractor technology, but modified for much more power and malleability. It is a close range space weapon (20 km, best suited for assault runs or close range battleship combat) that tears apart other ships and smashes them. Roughly the deep space equivalent of beating them with a giant police baton. We've found it much more effective than lasers, as shields have trouble stopping the beam, and few ships can survive getting smashed by their neighboring destroyer. The tradeoff is the short range and the burnout we've been experiencing in our first generation Capital Force Beams, but we believe more buffering will expand their capacity and range.

The 5CN is willing to sell one of their two mobile space docks...

details will be provided if TRSN is interested.

12-11-2003, 16:02
Very interested, 5CN. Can you provide details and how you would like to be reimbursed for this?

OOC: I'm still pretty new, even with the Frightening Econ, so I can't just drop a ton up front, I'd have to pay slowly, or with technological trading.
12-11-2003, 16:52
as interesting as the force beam tech sounds, it does not appear to fit with in our current or near future needs. perhaps, instead of currency, we can negotiate for payment in an equivelent amount of raw resourses and/or consumer goods?

also the time frame should be extended as well. as nice as having that much cash introduced, it would cause certain problems with the region's economies that we like to avoid. perhaps, 15 trillion over ten years, instead of three?

Ashton nodded, relieved, at the Industrialized Serfs reply. "Ten is much better for us as well." It won't total our resources, thank God. "We can direct you to several ex-planets that were shattered by a planet buster. The rubble would make excellent resources." Ashton shrugged, thinking about the world killer the Argus had reported.

Ashton nodded. "These absolute ships are perfect for our uses. We'll deliver 6 Trillion credits by skimmer ASAP. We'll need to get a Gate Alignment first, but we can do that. What are the specs on the Pulse Cannons? And could it be modified to add a Jump Unit, Fighter Bays for Six Wings to replace one of the large berths, and Missile Batteries?"

OOC: I'm still pursuing other offers as well. I need multiple things.
Five Civilized Nations
12-11-2003, 17:33
The Pulse cannons are variants on the standard ion cannon, except designed to fight fighters...

The modifications will be made and will be completed in two RL day...

The Jump Unit will be added, but as the 5CN utilizes only Foldspace and Hyperspace technology, TRSN must provide it...

The vessel can be picked up at the March Naval Yards orbiting Mars

Ashton nodded. "We'll have the skimmer at your dock tommorrow, with a supply ship carrying out Jump Unit. Be prepared for an arrival at 0400 hours. (OOC: Not RL time, just NS made up time.) The money will be with the skimmer."
Five Civilized Nations
12-11-2003, 17:38
Due to deflation of the Nu and the Dollar, the vessel will now cost 8 trillion Nus.

Down payment is now 1 trillion Nus and the bill is 700 billion Nus a year for ten years...

Acknowledged. We fix our currency to a solid rate against real materia. This causes problems with markets, but lends enough stability to use the credit as a standard.

OOC: I'll send skimmer and tug in TG form, unless you want a posting?
Five Civilized Nations

all up to you...
12-11-2003, 17:45
*looks over the supplied data on the former planets*
hmm. these may do well indeed.
*sends a message to the intel offices to look into these planet busters. they may prove to be interesting.*

if you still require the space in the smoke ring, we are willing willing to except raw ore at .5 credit per ton. after 15 trillion credits worth delivered, at market rate.

we are willing to except processed and consumer goods as well. valued at 80% of wholesale market prices. after 15 trillion credits worth delivered, at market rate.
12-11-2003, 17:47
Oh, I have a poor and relatively new nation, but we already have a space station! It's not yet launched, however...

Uh... We have a small fleet of military spaceships... They still use obsolete technology and Ion Engines class I (the pooor ones), but it has Capital Ship Missiles and Anti-Proton beans. Also a Point defense cannons agains incoming missiles... Not late technology weapons.

Ashton ordered transports to begin hauling chunks of planet from the shattered worlds to be delivered to IS.
12-11-2003, 18:14
excellent. we await the arival of the first shipment. we have sent a soft-copy of the information about the volume. it include weather, orbital dynamics, nearby flora and fauna, listing of forbiden fruit, vegtebales, and pets, etc. a hard copy will be sent with the first returning ore carrier.

we look forward to doing business with you again in the future.

----
-dude, 30 trillion tons of ore?
-what? you think i should of held out for more?
-for less. what are we going to do with 30 _trillion_ tons of rock?
-well... we do have the genesis project.
-perhaps...
imported_The TRSN
12-11-2003, 18:16
Acknowledged. The transports will be arriving in RL two hours or more, depending on their ability to collect the ore.
