MoI Release: Homecoming

Government Returns from Exile to Praise and Celebration

An emotional first step for Minister Ellman-Fogg, as she stepped off the train from Terronos that conveyed herself and many of the Ministers and their staff back home after several weeks in exile. Though the MoP had asked the arrival to be unannounced the information was clearly not as guarded as the recent disinformation campaign, as crowds gathered to cheer the arrival of the Ministers in SeOCC.

The crowd contained, standing prominently near the front of the throng, many of SeOCC’s most important private citizens, including former Ministers Natalie Truman, Emily Maple and Alexander Soren, all who opted to stay in SeOCC rather than evacuate. Those who were present in the packed train station brought no signs, placards of banners to greet the returning officials, arriving only with applause and cheering that, inside the closed confines of the station, made interviews impossible. The pictures, though, tell the story of the day well enough: SO Khalid’s fists raised in jubilation as Soren hugs Ellman-Fogg; the crowds closed around officials in a storm of handshaking and backslapping; the procession, on foot, of the official back to their offices, accompanied by nearly one hundred thousand supporters, shutting down large parts of SeOCC for several hours.

War Deterred With Intelligence, Not Force: EDWD

Lawrence Tilmully, head of the EDWD Intelligence/Counterespionage Division (ICD) released several statements to media outlets commenting on the success of the operation. Mr. Tilmully emphasized that traditional militaries played no role what is already being celebrated as a stunning diplomatic victory across SeOCC and the CACE, and that defense spending should continue to go to EDW and other network paradigm solutions rather that expensive and ineffective traditional militaries.

We never even loaded a gun and we ended the threat of a SATO led war in Aperin for the foreseeable future. Forget firing a shot, our guns are basically useless at this point. At this point, with SeOCC at peacetime alert, which is nil, any attack, even one in the future, would be clearly motivated by a vendetta, not by any serious threat we pose. And more to the point, the less we spend on our military the less of a threat we are, and the harder it becomes to justify a war against us. The more we adapt to the network paradigm the greater the advantage to ourselves, since our enemies will be attempting to live out their glory days of hegemony while we’re reacting to actual material conditions.

Though SATO has yet to admit wrongdoing, and has yet to officially state that their intelligence was both false and they failed to make an attempt to verify it, it is clear that the consensus of the global community has swung decidedly from the ‘All Hail Menelmacar!’ stance seen only days earlier. Mr. Tillmully, as a key executor of these plans, is confident that as the evidence presented is verified and digested the CACE’s case will be recognized as the more persuasive of the sides.

‘Menelmacar relies on ancient history, ‘he said, ‘while we’re pointing to what they’re doing right now. Take a guess which is more convincing.’

Government Declares Seven Day Holiday, November 8th as SeOCC Day of Peace

In a prepared statement released via the Data Havens, the Ministers declared an official holiday from November 10th – 16th to allow citizens to return to their normal lives and time to celebrate. November 8th has been declared the Day of Peace, and will be honored as a nationwide holiday from here on as a time to remember the importance of seeking peace before conflict.

The statement also announced the government would be sponsoring free concerts on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and individual arco councils have chosen to sponsor similar events across the nation. Several famous anti-capitalist bands have been confirmed as headliners, including Systematic Downers, ZHMWM, Resurrected Nixon and Brother Bomb. Most local bands of any repute have been snatched up to play at various events, and foreign acts are likely to be recruited to fill the huge demand.

Street Parties Begin

A zen question: what is the sound of 100 million people jumping for joy?

Or perhaps: if someone drinks to much and passes out in the middle of the biggest street party in history, do they make a sound?

Late last night, as citizens returned home, parties began independently as friends and loved ones reunited and danced late into the night to honor the event. These parties spread consistently as more citizens returned home every hour, and now most SeOCC streets are closed due to congestion and random acts of partying. The parties ranged from purely celebratory to political in nature, as one rabble rouser addressed a crowd inside Olympic arco-cluster.

The WBO are holding their hands over their faces because they don’t want us to see the bloody nose we gave them! They’ll be wearing sunglasses for a week to hide the black eye we gave them! We won, we won! And their silence can’t take that away from us! Let them pretend to kill each other, let them get hard ons the size of cannons, we are not afraid! We are not afraid!

Most parties, though, were more cordial in nature, and many have already received the support of local arco-councils, who have voted to foot the bill for food, drinks and drugs. Several arco-councils, led by the Olympic, Capitol, Woodville and Harbor councils, have extended the following invitation to the world:

To All Who Read:

Party in SeOCC! All are welcome; SATO Soldiers welcome, but please leave guns at home. BYOB if possible, we’re running short. Here’s to the revolution!

No word yet on if there are any takers, though the estimated 100 million people who are taking part in these parties, many of which have already organized live bands or dj’s, include many Celdonian solider and people from neighboring CACE nations. It is speculated the fact that these parties are so widespread as to shut down SeOCC completely convinced the Ministers to declare a one week holiday rather than ruin the mood.

Peace Time Ensues

The EDWD officially took SeOCC to peace time alert yesterday, returning to normal duty all police and EMS personnel. Volunteers were decommissioned as EDWD officers and are returning to the lives they left behind in SeOCC while they consider their futures. Though the wargames proceed, and despite the clear desire of several SATO members to invade despite their political embarrassment, SeOCC has declared peace and the government has stated there is no risk of invasion. Given popular sentiment, it is clear their opinion is shared by most of the nation.

Negotiations for Disbanding of Volunteer Army Scheduled to Begin

Confirmation has been given to several MoI reporters from independent VA leaders that the Volunteer Army and the MSA will be sitting down to discuss the permanent dissolution of the VA. The leaders, who asked to remain anonymous on all counts pending the results of the talks, cited a variety of reasons for the talks. At the top of each list was that the VA had now seen, first hand, the risk they represent to SeOCC security by providing an excuse to brand SeOCC a terrorist nation, followed closely by a renewed faith in the abilities of their government to achieve change on an international scale. No word from the MSA, since it has not opened its offices yet, is available at this time.

Overjoyed at the news of an end to the threat of war, Xikuangese gathered in droves to see off the SeOCC citizens they had sheltered in their homes, and a fair few of them chose to accompany their newfound friends home, joyously taking part in the celebrations. Festive spirits run high, and chants are frequently raised amidst laughter and cheering:

SEA ORC! SEA ORC!
Seocc

SEA ORC! SEA ORC!

a cry echoed across SeOCC, except in a miracle of linguistics SeOCC citizens managed to pronounce ork with a k.

OOC: It's supposed to be pronounced that way...

...I should have Siri accept the party invitiation, show up, and shake Ellman-Fogg's hand, just to really throw people off balance.

Really, it was all quite well-played, if ridiculously risky (and it could have quite possibly ended in some 'pre-emptive defense' a la Iraq.)

Thank you. Speaking for myself, I trust SATO far more than the Bush administration. The risk was calculated-- you have intelligent people on your side, too intelligent to let it pan out the wrong way. We counted on that, and you did not disappoint us.
