THE SHAMBLES
On November 8 2003, The Shambles declared its independence from The United Macronistic States, to become one amongst the many thousand states fighting and striving to survive in this new world of nation states.
Our nation is young, but we entrust that friendly states on this forum, and in the wider world, will assist during our transition.
Our progress will be posted here, and other fora, in both English and once provisions allow, in Shambolique, the national language.
May we thank all those nations who have already pledged their support and assistance to The Shambles, at this time.
The Shambles was one island group amongst the many that constituted The United Macronistic States. Whilst democracy was maintained in our islands, others were soon the plaything of despotic tyrants who assumed the rule of law was beneath thier aims and endeavours.
Our independence was largely peaceful, and our Interim Council of Ministers will set the date for Senate Elections as soon as possible. Our nation has 2 layers of elected representation - the District Councils of each district or area, and the Senate, or Parliament.
