A challenge is set. (Space RP)[NEED MORE ENTRIES]

Head Pilot Hayami sat down at the meeting table that overlooked the hanger. "So why exactly are we here?" The young asian asked the older man.

He looked at her and the group of mechanics, not answering right away. "I have an idea. As you know we have won 12 championships, but why stop at the Crimmond races? We could go a lot further."

She and the crew gaped. "How? There is no international league..."

Cirnan smiled. As team owner he knew that would be their reaction. The day he couldn't predict their reactions was the day he retired. 17 years and counting... "Who said anything about a league? We're just going to... set out a challenge."

He sat down and explained it all. In the end, they were all grinning.

-------------------------------------------

About three hours later a message was sent through relays and news services across the Sol System.

Cirnan spoke at the camera in front of him, Hayami behind him. We, of Pathfinder Racing wish to offer up a challenge to the others of the system. A race.... through the Asteroid Belt." He smiles. "I know that most of you think this is insane, but what about if we offered a prize worth your while?"

He steps back and Hayami steps up. "I will be representing Pathfinder, if any of you can beat me... you get 12 million Crimmars"(48 Million USDs, the Crimmar is worth a lot) She smiles. "Think you're up to it?"

Information scrolls across the screen, then the ad ends with the teams promotional poster.

The Teams Promotional Database is where people are directed and info on contestants entering is updated as soon as the application is processed.

Name: Raya Hayami
Rank: Head Pilot
Sex: Female
Race: Human, Asian
Record: 5 Asteroid League Championships
Ship: Pathfinder 4

Pilot Hayami is one of the best Crimmond has. She is the only pilot that dares to close the gap between ship and rock to mere yards. Hayami has destroyed five ships in the belt, one still stuck in one of the rocks. How she has survived with her reckless nature is still a mystery. She will not hesitate to cut off another contestant, literaly burning their shields out with the Pathfinder's four Ion Engines and forcing them to drop out.

http://home.earthlink.net/~alpha_zero_usm/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/pathfinder.jpg
Ship: Pathfinder 4
Crew: 1
Armament: None
Shields: Xanthalian-Crimmond Varient Type IV
Engines: Four Frigate Mark VII Secondary Ions

The rules stipulate that there may only be two people aboard the ships during the race and that no weapons may be on the ship. If there are weapons on the ship that cannot be removed, they must be disabled in such a way that there is no way to enable them during the race. No cargo may be carried either. You must leave it all at Lunar Yard 3, one of two Crimmmond Military Ship/Dockyards in Lunar Orbit, where you will pick it up, should you survive.

OOC: I will choose only five RPers, I know... not a lot. But more than that gets confusing. I will choose whoever I think has put the most effort into giving strengths and weaknesses to the pilot and ship.

Buster Blader immediatly sat up, prepped his Interceptor for lauch, and took off. "12 Million Crimmars. That's a lot of easy years if i win." It had been a long time scince somthing like this happened. He'd finished his military service, and permitted to keep his ship for bravery in the face of battle. He'd raced others through the belt before, but never on such scale.

Name: Buster Blader

The greatest fighter pilot in the Imperial Navy. Fought in the Blood Dragon War, taking down 7 Fighters alone when he was ambushed, and captured one for Imperial Analysts. Has flown through the Asteroid belt before, on 3 occasions, 2 he didn't make it throught. Has a dream of owning a capital ship, and taking her into deep space.

Ship: Taiidan Interceptor.

http://www.homeworld-das-spiel.de/images/taiidan-scout.gif

VERY fast, VERY manuverable, but the slightest dent could rip the engine right off. Only the most skilled pilots can navigate an asteroid field in these without having to be rescued after ejecting. Used mainly as a patrol craft, these vessels are being slowly edged out of service by the new Taiidan Interceptor Mk 2.

Weapons can be removed quite easily, and already have been.

The Five Civilized Nations has decided to take up Crimmond's challenge and has decide to field their best pilot and one of the fastest spacecraft in the universe...

Pilot:

http://www.mahq.net/animation/gundam/cca2.jpg

Name: Thomas Lafayette
Rank: Captain, 5CN Navy
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Race: Human, European
Bio:
A daredevil ace pilot, Captain Thomas Lafayette has fought in one major space war, scoring an impressive fifty-three kills. He is a ruthless man, having once killed an enemy pilot with his bare hands, after the two were stranded on Europa. More recently, in this time of peace, Thomas Lafayette has been a test pilot for the Five Civilized Nations' latest generation of spacecraft. He has begun training for this competition in the 5CN Gutter Run Race.

Racing Craft:

http://www.mahq.net/mecha/macross/macross2/vf-2ss-sap-gerwalk.jpg

Class: Valkryie
Name: Pegasus
Armament: None
Crew: 1
Shields: Triple 5CN Regan Type XI Shields
Engines: Three Halcyon Mark V Engines
Info: This ship is one of the latest generation of spacecraft that has been developed by the Five Civilized Nations. It has been stripped of all of its weaponry and has been incredibly upgraded with triple shields and three engines instead of the standard one shield and twin engines.
In the latest tests, this vessel has been known to very vulnerable when the shields are down, because of the volatile fuel that the vessel uses. One of the major problems this vessel has is with its gryo-stabilizers. Because of the upgrades, the vessel is not completely stablized and has been known to spin out of control.

Bio: Originally the lead Tenor of the Madrigan Opera Company, Lardy was forced into interstellar hiding after accidentally beheading the entire cast and three rows of the audience in a paticularly realistic interpretation of his latest production. Since then he has toured the galaxy, hoping to find some new Opera company that will hire him, or at the very least, a huge pile of cash.

Well there could be the Tannelorn Entry that would add more to it.

Morgenraete Transformable Space Atmosphere Fighter
Speed Atmosphere mach twelve, Space Mach 25
Method of Locomotion, Integral Plasma drives/Vernier System
Size 42 feet long high speed mode, 38 feet tall high maneuver [Giant robot]

Fast as hell, tough as nails, and more maneuvarable then an Alpha

Essentially in high speed mode the plane Maneuvers like brick thrown by a catapult, high maneuver is still relatively fast but very maneuverable.

Hayami watched from the hanger deck's pilot lounge/bar as the Military techs looked over her ship. She didn't like it a bit. "They'll probably break something." she muttered. The crewchief, Evans, was down there with his team watching them like a hawk If anything happened, they would know.

The asian woman looked out the viewport at a flash of yellow caught her eye. A Tiger Class Cruiser was heading to it's dock. The hull was marked CSS TIGER. The namesake of the entire class...

She was not impressed. So she ordered anothe drink and looked at the view screen showing some Earth-Bound racing championship called Busch.

Meanwhile, the engineering crew walks out of the doors and begins to peer around. A couple of them watches the unloading, while the others begin to wander around. Captain Thomas Lafayette strolls out of the transports and begins to look around. After an hour, everything is offloaded and the transport undocks and along with the pair of corvettes disappear into space...

Sayami looked down at the ships in the hanger. Out of the three, the Pathfinder 4 seemed the most beat up and patched together. It still flew, sorta. Damn thing was hell to control at full throttle, with four frigate ion engines in it instead of the original two scout fusion engines. It had saved her from defeat(and deadth) more than once though.

Name: Ghuur
Rank: Merchant Navy Cargo Transport Pilot
Sex: Male
Race: Saurian, Sakkran
Record: Has been running shipments from the Asteroid belt to the Titan Colony to Earth, and all waypoints inbetween for 35 standard years. Never late with a shipment yet.
Ship: Emperor's Concubine (EC)

Most cargo transport pilots in the Merchant Navy go for their entire careers without any recognition. They follow safe transport routes and shipping lanes, making certain their cargo arrives when it arrives, intact and sound.

Ghuur is an exception in that respect. With a wild look in his eye, he has outrun pirate raids through the Asteroid Belt, laughing maniacally the whole time. He is an adrenaline junkie in the truest sense. If there is a thrill in space to be had, he goes in search of it. Sometimes his cargo doesn't make the trip.

Standing at 7'3", he manages to cram himself into the snug cockpit of his sleek craft. He has saved, scrimped and run every job he could get (legal and otherwise) to pay for his recently completed personal ship the Emperor's Concubine, a heavily modified Anole-class fighter.

The Sakkran Merchant Navy vessel slows as it approaches Lunar Yard 3. The captain of the ship comms Ghuur in his quarters.

"Alright Ghuur. We're here. Now disembark so we can go on our way. Good luck to you, and do our people proud."

People nothing. I want that prize! "Confirmed Cap. I'm on my way out. Gimme clearance in 5."

"Confirmed. See you on the way back."

Ghuur walked over to his modified Anole-class fighter, and stroked the side gently, like a lover's tender caress. Now, my beauty, we'll see if you are worth what I payed for. He palmed the access pad and the top lifted up at a 45 degree angle and slid forward. The internal cockpit then rose, and opened down the middle with a soft SSSSS. He climbed in and gripped the control bars, placing his feet in the velocity-control stirrups. It was like a motorcycle, but much longer.

The cockpit descended and the craft sealed itself shut, and pressurized. The comm unit came on in front of Ghuur's face. "This is the Cap. You have clearance from Lunar Yard 3. I'm opening the bay doors now."

The bay doors of the merchant vessel opened, and Ghuur released the magnetic pads keeping his ship in place. He let the decompression take him out of the ship, and kicked in the thrusters after 1/2 a kilometer away, angling them to Lunar Yard 3. He followed the landing instructions into the docking bay, and slid his ship in slowly.
