Beer should be the staple diet of every nation in the world, that is beyond doubt, but what I would like to know is how much precious agricultural land should be given over to growing hops?

Bah, this post is to Condemn Achohal, and no, not because of the bible!
Achohal impares the human senses, to grow it in your country you are knowingly putting everyone in your country at danger. Danger to themselves, and danger to others. Drunk people can seriously harm others. Achohal also caused Liver Disease, which kills far too many people already.
There are no plusses for achohal, it's bad all around. The only type of achohal that is usefull is rubbing achohal, but there are other anti-biodicts.

Besides, many other types of Agriculture, if planned right, can bring in more money then just Hops...

right concerning the financial side if your country is only allowed to drink beer then you are always going to get a large demand meaning that with propper control of the pricing structure you make a fortune.
as for the effects of beer you don't really want to live in a world full of 125 year old people complaining about the price of a can of beans do you. Beer helps the order of natural selection, those that can handle their beer and those who can't. so some people die younger but on the plus side you have a lot less old people cloging up your national health service :roll:

I think you should devote 100% of your land to growing hops. That way, The Entire States can sell you the barley and wheat you don't have any room to grow.

anyway after a few years of drinking the stuff my population won't care a hoot for the taste, as most of them will have lost all their tastebuds, or be big mentalists and as it's compulsory to drink the stuff i won't have a problem shifting it.

Grapes can ferment on the vine, and thus wine can come straight of the vine. But its a bit hard to do.
And why don't you prohibit running? It can get both your adrenaline and endorphines pumping, both strong drugs, both much stronger then caffeine.
