Awakening Kaelis-Ra

In the dimly lit depths of the necron tombship Reaper of Light which was now operational once more, a figure watched a vast display. The display showed the galaxy, a thousand billion miniature projected stars glimmered in the darkness. One of them expanded, pushing the others away from it as it grew to a ten centimetre ball of boiling leaping holographic gas.

The figure watched as an ancient script lashed across the screen, reading with unnatural speed and accuraccy the figure learnt all that was pertinent about the star, and more importantly its planets. The world that would one day be known a Pavonis fell into the core of the holoarea, expanding again so that its blackened sands were a globe a meter across. More of the strange script moved.

In the distance engines could be heard powering themselves up, ready to leap forward in the staggering, and subtle ways needed to arrive at the destination. The map of the galaxy returned, and a glimmering line appeared, linking the star that had been focussed on to another. A glimmering flash on the line marked the position of the ship. It began to visibly move along the line, the fine scale deceiving the eye of a casual observer as to the speeds involved.

Farseer Tag. This may have dire implications, because, well damit the Necrons are up to something that ALWAYS has dire implications.

OOC Hmm, okay.

IC Within the Dome a lone Farseer sat as around her the Rune Stones floated she was still considered new to the Council, even through she had served it for many a year now, her control of the Runes was growing daily, she already outstripped Galdern, although partly that was due to Galdern's training in other fields, in Mon-Keigh Magics, he had not had the time to concentrate on the one path of the Seer.

Still she had mastered a Thousend Runes when the time called for it, although presently she was only using a few Hundred, and yet those few where revealing a potential.

Ancient souls I seek your guidence here, what am seeing here, wht are they attempting?

The response from those that had gone before was as always not understood as words cointaining but as a feeling or a thought being formed but it was enough, they would need to watch this matter and be preparred, for now they would task a small team to the area, a pack and a Carrier would depart for the nearest Webgate, although they would arrive after the Necrontyr this was unavoidable few could replicate the speed of the servents of that ancient foe.

The tombship decellerated into geostationary orbit of the world. Probing at it, the ship found nothing that conflicted with records. The ship descended toward the atmosphere, aiming for a pinpoint barrage. Millions of years ago a metal pyramid would have been seen below its current location. Now all that could be seen there was an endless blackened desert, scorched to ashes by some unimaginable device long ago.

On the ventral side of the great leviathan a green glow flickered as another, lesser device adjusted its power settings. The beam lanced down toward the ground, a strangely organised magnetic field ripping the ash up into the air, and into the upper atmosphere. Revealed beneath a darkened sky, churning with lightning bolts from the friction in the air, was a vast pryamid, golden and undeminished after the thousands of millenia it had been buried.

Aboard the ship, hundreds of pariahs prepared to land.

((OOC Oh Feth I just put this together... Run for the hills... Evacuate Evacuate.))

Still in transit the nearest Webgate was at least Five Systems away from the Target as the Exploration force exited the Webgate, and began to plot the course, and the long journey ahead of them. Onboard the Eldar vessels the crews began to ready themselves, hopefully they would not take long to arrive as they slipped into the Immaterium...

Onboard Tor Yvresse, the signs grew ever more omnious, and more vessels where urgently dispatched, as the only Runes to appear in the search for greater understanding where simply Death, and Return.

((Heh... I assume the post in the Exploration command thread was a reminder of what Kaelis Ra is then? This shouldn't be as dire as it appears though.

IC post coming soon.))

Kaelis Ra... isn't he the Nightbringer? Arn't you worried that he might try to, you know, eat the Deciever? He does like to snack on other C'tan, ya know :p

OOC: Not really. When entombed he was at 0.00001% power, he had to go and eat the star Cyclo to become remotely powerful. This version of the deciever however, is probably more powerful than the one in 40K at the moment, by virtue of being awake longer.

The Small Advance Forces where only now exiting the Immaterium to see, what had been feared, the Temple was almost completly uncovered, quick messages where transmitted between the various ships, and the Carrier.

'We have no choice the Yngir must not be allowed to awaken. Launch all fighters and prepare to engage the Tombship. Send the message to the rest of the Fleet, inform them I am prepared to overload the engines if need be, The Necrontyr will not awaken this nightmare.'

'We obey Captain, The Pack of Khaines Ending Will Engage the tomb ship until the fighters can be launched. May Ishar be with us.'

As fighters began to pore from the Carrier the Five smaller ships raced towards their Foe, and prepared to die, all in hopes of delaying the forces aweakening.

On the surface of the planet the deciever stopped amidst a vast garden of grotesque statues to pain, torment and death, none of which bothered him, and looked upward. The pariahs were busy establishing themselves nearby and preparing to enter the tomb, hopefully avoiding the sensors that would alert its guards.

The long range sensors aboard the tombship had detected the prescence of eldar attack ships. They were foolish to interfere here, but they had committed to an attack now. Briefly, and resuming his march toward the vast edifice of the pyramid beyond he recorded a message to be sent to the eldar.

"Do not interfere in what does not concern you. I assure you my intent is not what you believe it to be, I despise the creature that resides here almost as much as you do, and I assure you, I do not intend to release it upon the universe again. Please do not force me to destroy your vessels, and cause unnessesery loss of life, please withdraw."

The deceiver doubted they would even pay such a message a moment's heed, even when it was the truth, the human fable of the boy who cried wolf seemed appropriate. Even so he was unconcerned, bombers posed no threat to a capital ship ((I assume you mean bombers, given that battlefleet gothic's fighters are basically inerceptors and can't hurt starships, and as necron ships use no ordanance, launching them against necrons is just a waste of time)) and the frigates and destroyers would not last long.

Indeed the message was not believed for even a moment, as the Eldar began to strike. The Pack knew that they poised no threat to a Tomb ship, the Carrier knew it also, but still they attacked, Bombers being swatted aside as flys, The Smaller Crusiers fared a little better, but they would not hold out long. The main fleet was still some time away and onboard the Wrath awakened the crew knew what needed to be done.

'Take us in as close as possible, then set the Engines for Overload, blow them completly. Khaine take them, evacuate the ship of all non-essential Personal. Open a Channel to all ships.'

'Channel open Captain.'
'In the memory of all that was lost against the foe below us, I am to sacriface the Carrier. Inform Tor Yvresse, Inform our people, of what you see this day, and leave the combat area. That is all we who will be lost ask of you, that our sacriface be never forgotten. For KHAINE.'

As the final message of the Wrath awakened was broadcast and the evacuation pods of the Eldar could be seen fleeing the vessel it began it's last assult. Until the last moment all it's Guns would fire, one last Broadside before the end, as it manouvered for position and the Eldar vessels that supported it's advance dove for cover, the Immaterium Engines built up their Power, over riding all safty limits.

Lights flashed over the entire vessel, Eldar sat at their stations and held onto their Spirit Stones knowing that in their Heart they would not survive they attempted none the less to shield them as well they could. Hoping against all hope for a miracle, knowing that none would come.

Too late now for the Carrier to recover it was dedicated to the cause.

Five...Four...Three...Two...one

Flash, space was ripped apart, Real Space and Warp space co-existed for the briefest of moments the storm raged all around and then was gone, of the Wrath awakened no sign remained, apart from a few small chunks of debris.

((Well what else could I do realistically C'Tan make of it what you wish with Necron Vessels if they detected the build up the Tomb ship could have escaped, so I guess the question is did they in time?))

The ship drifted in the sea of souls. If it had had the animalistic instincts necessery to interpret what was happening, it would have seen hundreds of thousands of - creatures, thirtsing creatures - converging on the Eldar ship's debris, fighting over it like drowning men fighting for a boat.

However, it did not, and so it could see nothing. Not quite nothing. There was something else there banished to the empyranean. Another ship, like itself, but many many times greater in stature. It was what it had come for. The other ship was dormant. Fortunately the creatures here had no interest in such ships, they craved only living occupants.

Deep within the ship something told it that it's sense of time had been altered. It checked the other ship, it's only reference here, again. It had not changed. It flicked an encrypted signal to the other ship.

What were presumably moments later it was completed. The Reaper of Light began uploading its mind, and those of it's crew into the Nightbringer's ship. Presumably a moment after that, the Cairn class ship exploded, its self destruct system activated. Insane colours that could truly not exist played around the vaporised ship...

The Deceiver passed through the final gate and into the chamber beyond. Already the obsidian block was unravelling itself, turning into a slow motion storm of black tendrils above its base. He was confident of the abilities of his landing party to hold off the Nightbringer's guards, for a while at least.

Silently he cursed the eldar for destroying his flagship. While he was able to summon another, if this went wrong, there would be no hope of the signal reaching it in time.

The whipping cyclone of darkness began to coalesce into a figure, broadly humanoid. From beneath it's shroud, glowing pits of yellow that seemed to extend forever in an endless passage of burning sulphur seemed to focus on him. The figure hissed its hatred.

"Betrayer..." the voice said in the ancient tongue of the necrontyr, "you were the one who summoned my enemies here." The figure seemed to suck in light in the room. It wasted no further time; lunging forward it swept out with the scythe it carried at the other star god's body.

The deceiver parried, his hand grasping the blade of the scythe. Arcs of intense electromagnetic forces flew between the two creatures. For a moment they seemed evenly matched, but it was merely an illusion. The Nightbringer had slept for a long time; its power had waned during that time.

The jackal god resorted to purely physical force, slamming the heel of its living-metal hand into the Nightbringer's midsection. The death-god attempted to phase itself, but its opponent followed suit, adjusting itself to make contact.

The Nightbringer flew through the air, passing through the plinth its necrodermis had rested on and through the wall beyond. The deceiver darted forward, and a sliver of metal jumped from the plinth into its hand. The cloaked figure returned, hissing its rage once more.

The Deceiver faced its opponent again and pointed a curved metal talon at it.

“Enough of this,” it said, “serve me or die.”

Minutes later, near the system’s sun, space began to boil and seethe, as something which did not belong where it was, was slowly pulled back into reality.

OOC: Yes, that thing with the Nightbringer could have gone either way, you'll just have to wait and see...
