OOC: On the last Poll, it went nuts... I dunno what went wrong... So re-vote...
That Satanic Cult of a Terrorist Organization, DSRO (The Secular Resistance) blackmailed us into becoming a Democracy. They threatened to kill off our innocent citizens to Liberate the Citizens from Church Oppression...But you can read about that here (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=88030&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0) So, a Constitution has been put in place, Parliamentary system organized, Parliament members being voted in. Now we need a Prime Minister. This will be the Oppressive Church's first election. And after the Prime Minister is instated after this election, the Church wont involve itself AT ALL in the affairs of government...
Candidates:
Do remember, we're still a Religious Country, so the fact that some of these Candidates are Highly Religious is unpreventable...
Daniel Verende:
Former Activist of the failed Socialist Revolt in the Country, now leader of the "National Socialist Party," Daniel Verende is first and foremost in the country on antibusiness Politics. Private Businesses are already outlawed in the church, due to the fact that they interfered with the Church's Authority, and if elected, Daniel Verende is certain to keep those laws in place. He also is a pro-order, and will create an army for the Pacifistic Nation quickly. His ideas on the country will most likely cause the fragile government run economy to entirely collapse. How he will effect person freedoms of the citizens is still unknown, but his Militaristic Ideas hurt his popularity.
Penelope Antriel:
A Liberal Activist, Penelope Antriel was one of the biggest political figures during the two day Anti-Religion Riots following the Assassination of the Arch Bishop. She is the Leader of the "Civil Rights For YOU!" party. She is very Anti-Religion. She has published over 19 books on her ideals on Personal Freedoms. If she elected, she will most likely keep the antibusiness laws in place, and keep the country pacifistic.
Charles William Hedromidic Esquire:
A Pro-Business businessman, Charles William Hedromidic, Esq. was the man the Church had entrusted to run the Government owned Businesses of the country. He is now the leader of the "Economic Reform" Party. He promisees that all Anti-Capitalist and Antibusiness laws will be repelled instantly, and he will try his hardest to revitalize the Economy to the country. He hasn't really said his position on any other issues except Economy... Although it is believed that he is a Religious man...
Beatrice Dartel:
A former Acolyte of the Church, she left the Sisterhood to become a Politician, and run in this race. She is leading the "Morality for Your Sake" Party. She promises to keep the country at the highest level of morality. She promises to remain pacifistic, as military only degrades morality. She has said outright she'd destroy anything and everything in the country to keep the citizenry at the highest possible level of Moral Decency.
------
The country is currently still without order since the Assassination of the Arch Bishop weeks ago. The Church failed to reassert order over the nation, which has lead to chaos during this election. The transition of power from Church to Parliament is quite tense, if anyone actually tries to destroy the democratic process during this election, they would succeed easily.
As the polls close for the Parliament Elections, no one has tried anything yet, and the country sits with it's fingers crossed!
Parliament has been split as fallows:
National Socialist Party: 15%
Civil Rights for YOU! Party: 29%
Economic Reform Party: 26%
Morality for your Sake Party: 20%
---
People are casting their votes now for the Prime Minister. Questionnaires have determined this will be the vote ratio for each candidate:
Daniel Verende: 11%
Penelope Antriel: 27%
Charles William Hedromidic Esquire: 22%
Beatrice Dartel: 19%
Undecided: 11%
For Church Rule: 10%
The fact that 11% were undecided, and 10% wanted the Church to continue rule greatly worries many people, as they are afraid the current instability will create a split in the country.
