HIPORAUN Completed Ahead of Schedule!

About 7 years ago we anounced we would be designing new High Powered Radar Units, HIPORAUN (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1992024&highlight=#1992024) for short, and would be placing them in some of our Northern Provinces to avoid attacks by Australia coming by surprise, as we are constantly afraid they'll try to retake Tasmania, the land we call home, away from us, we estimated that developing these HIPORAUN units, and building them in their assigned places, would take 10 years, it has taken only 7 instead, a fact of which we are most proud, the HIPORAUN buildings look like this:

Except for a few Ultra High Power Radar Units called ULHIPORAUNs, which look like this:

The ULHIPORAUNs have a 25% greater range than the standard HIPORAUNs, we can "See" movement over vast stretches of land and sea now, and someday in the future we plan to develop ICBM Silos, that will have Targetting Systems that can "Speak" directly with the HIPORAUN-ULHIPORAUN bases for better targetting.

We are wondering about their tatical and strategic advantages and uses.

WeekendLazyness: They can be used to coordinate strikes with missiles, they make one of the best Early Warning Networks we know of, the HIPORAUN units can "See" up to 250 miles short of the Northern Territory in Australia, the ULHIPORAUN can "See" right up to the border of the Northern Territory, they are HIGHLY sensitive, anything else you wish to know?

What's their power output?
Plus, can you not do the same thing with planes (such as the R-50 in my storefront)?

Their exact power output is classified, Government, you understand, and yes, certain aircraft can mimick the effect of these devices, but they must go back and forth many times to cover their area, these units just sit there, and cover the whole spot at once.

(How did you get over the problem that, no matter what the power output, radar simply cannot 'see' through the curvature of the Earth?)

(How did you get over the problem that, no matter what the power output, radar simply cannot 'see' through the curvature of the Earth?) That is where planes come in, we're going to try and make compact versions of the HIPORAUN/ULHIPORAUN units, and put them in special planes, and ships.

(So, in other words, the Plan™ here is to make these gigantic ,white elephant radars that are several times more powerful than they need to be, then shrink them in size and effectivness back down to that of a regular radar, and then mount them in airplanes. Correct?)

Somebody has been taking pictures in TX I would guess. Military project over 18 years ago, called OTH-B. Over the Horizon Backscatter Radar. Was able to bounce radar off the ionosphere and literally see past the curvature of the earth. I was part of the military project that was running the acquisition of that system.

I'll need to look into that.

Well I can give you a clue on the most recent military science acquisition if you need it. Just yell!

Sure, what can I do for you and is there an easier way to do this?
