Venusian Maggots
We have come to the conclusion that the ancient reformation of the Venusian surface is responsible for its lack of a native maggot field. When tectonic action halted, the mantle was prevented from cooling. The resultant heating of the mantle is likely what led to the cesation of core convection currents and the loss of a maggot field. In order to restore the planet's maggot field, a way must be found to cool the mantle and reheat the core. Until then, we must be content with either the induced maggotsphere bestowed on Venus by the solar wind, or an artificial maggotsphere.

This makes no sense and is not funny. However, it's only slightly less stupid than trying to make a planet uninhabitable in virtually every way habitable.

The Craftworld of Aelosia is deeply concerned about the terraforming process of Venus, as we see it as our "Maiden World", and have several colonies and mining facilities in the surface.
OOC: Is there a Menelmacari colony in Venus?. My craftworld in the orbit of that planet, and my fleets are always floating somewhere in that orbit. Maybe we should mark the borders...

It's probably safe to say that they own the planet, and your fleets in orbit are still there only because the Menelmacari are too busy to blow them up.

Because you have not focused on any one or few technologies, that means you are less experianced with a wider range of technologies. Less experiance leads to higher casualties whether through death or injury.
The 17 death's figure is therefore obviously propaganda (likely by the same central athority that plans your economy) and does not include work related injuries.

In other words, Xanthal deals in black-market technology piracy. Perhaps not direct piracy, but in trade with nations that have pirated technologies. It is the "warez" of the galaxy, except that it doesn't bring technology to the people, it brings technology for use by the people under what said central authority defines as appropriate use. Afterall, we are talking about a government with few political freedoms (a member of the party?), only average civil rights, and no personal property (no money by which to get/maintain personal property).
So, as stated above, propaganda.

~SiriMy only steady intersteller tradeing partner. I have ties to Orion Sector among others, but that's a 'you need something? Then ask and we'll get it to you for a price' sorta deal.
Many nations make these swarm missiles, I just mass produce them so everything from Marines to Battlestations have them. I figured I can sell a bunch and make a lot of money.
