Regional Statistics Compilers Wanted

Have you ever wondered which region has the greatest per capita GDP? Or which region's nations have the highest average freedoms or populations? Short of writing a bot to parse every page on the server from time to time (and incurring the wrath of the administrators), there's only one good way to compile these stats, and that's to ask each region to select a delegate to the NationStates Vital Statistics Department.

Some ground rules:

1. Your region should have at least ten nations if the region is to be listed among "best in the world" type rankings.

2. Whenever possible, multis within the same region should be discounted (or averaged into one figure). Multiple incarnations of the same user, but across different regions, are a different matter (separate from NS rules about UN multiing, of course).

3. For Economy, the average per capita GDP cited in this table (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=29122) should be used. Further instructions can be obtained about how to calculate a region's average PC-GDP via email or telegram.

4. For Political and Economic freedoms, this post (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=47301) can be used. Use the 1-15 "score" as the number in a weighted average.

Example:

Nation A has 300 million people and "World Benchmark" (12) Political freedoms. Nation B has 200 million people and "Unheard Of" (2) Political freedoms. Nation C has 100 million people and "Some" (5) Political freedoms. So the formula would go:

((300 x 12) + (200 x 2) + (100 x 5))/600, or 7.5, rounded up to 8 (Good) for the region. Economy would be handled similarly, just instead of using whole numbers, use the GDP figures in the sticky thread to arrive at a dollar value and calculate from that. You get the idea.

We in Wolfsreich will volunteer to be the keeper of records for the New Meritocracy, and intend to keep the report updated monthly. Any volunteers from other regions? Post in this forum, send a telegram, or (best) email to monsterdog_5 at msn dot com.
