Sydian jaws dropped this morning as the International Times, Sydia's favourite newspaper, printed that the UN had changed Sydia's catagory from 'Democratic Socialists' to 'Corrupt Dictatorship'.
Government officials are horrified by the change.
The Sydian Prime Minister said at a press conferance earlier today,
"The principle of the government of Sydia is to clearly provide for its people, and we have always been a proud supporter of democracy. The UN's decision here boggles the mind: I say this clearly to the international community: we are neither corrupt nor a dictorship. That will be all, thankyou."
The change has provoked widespread outrage across Sydia with many calls for Sydia to resign from the UN
"We have been a supporter of the UN system since our creation and now they throw it back in our faces", says local hothead J.Rufus. "I say we resign from their treachery immediately!"
K. D. Seville, a leading Sydian lawyer, even suggests suing the UN for 'slander against the Sydian people'.
"The case is very simple," states Seville, "due to the wrongful category we have been placed in it is clear that we shall lose tourism and international support. This clearly will have a negative effect on the economy."
Experts state that the bizarre chenge literally overnight could be due to increased military spending, although in the past Sydia has made clear it is not an agressive nation.
