Ross Roth packed up his bag. While vampirism hadn't quite caught on in Imitora, it was always good to have a few around. He looked at the goods in his back pack, and decided it was good. He zipped it up, and made sure he had reserved a spot at the confrence

TO whom it may concern,
I would greatly enjoy attendance of your confrence, and plan to attend. I have enclosed 500 USD, and hope it is ok if I bring my equipment. I am currently an ameture, and hop toi learn from this gathering. With respect

Judas paced up and down the Palaces wooden hallways. The opportunity to track down so many Vampire Hunters in one place at one time was a once in a century opportunity. As Lord of the Vampire Coven he would go himself. Secretly of course.

Crawford read over the information again, he had recently sent an offer to a potential client, but this sounded like a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Vampires, and perhaps the creature that killed Angela. After a moments consideration, he wrote an acceptance letter with the money enclosed. If the elf problem becomes violent, he can brake away from the conferance to stop it. While he had never encountered a vampire in his years of private practice, he had a set of tools just incase it should become necisarry.

"I am sure you know of me, I am Kain Irenicus. I am indeed a vampire, but I do dispese those vampires who have commited a crime, such as draining of blood on someone, or siring them against their concent. I would like to attend, I am assuming that you are hunting because of thier crimes, and not due to thier "race" although vampires cannot truelly be classed as a race. If I where to attend if you do believe these things and are hunting those commit these crimes please do explain that I am one hunting vampires. I do not want to defend myself against those who would hunt the same people as I."

(OOC OK, usually Kain would be carrying a demonic sword but in the intrest of fairness and to remove the fantasy element to it more, Kain will have a normal silver sword. Can he still use magic? Obviously I will not use it so much, or do you want none?)

Javier Reyes, considered the data that had been urgently tagged for his attention. A Vampire Hunter Convention, he mused. Considering the unusually varied nature of the vampires encountered within the many realms of the world, it seemed that such a convention could never hope to yield more than a brief overview of the bloodlines.

However, he thought, it might prove interesting.
His decision made, he accessed his accounts and arranged the transfer of Fetor, his brows rising as he noted the conversation rate. His fingers hesitated over the touchpad of the laptop, before falling; transmitting his confirmation data.

And so it was through advartising that a man (a human man) found out about the conference.

"I think this is what we were looking for, Countess." he said as he handed over the ad, bowing.

A thin smile spread across his employer's face. "Go there, keep out of sight. Perhaps we can find one worthy of our sponsorship." She waved a hand to dismiss him.

"Yes Countess" he replied, bowed again, then turned smartly on his feet and left the room.

------

Hours later, a scrungy looking man was renting a room at the hotel across the street...one with a window facing towards the convention center.

OOC: I took a little liberty in defining the outside scene, as it had not been done. It is your nation, so if you want to change it I'll work with you.

And since you asked us all to say so, no, this has nothing to do with Wazzu proper. The charicters are from Wazzu, but neither the government or the megacorps have anything to do with this, over or under the table.

EDIT: And no, he is not attending...just watching people enter/leave...hoping for an oppertunity.

OOC: Wazzu has brought up a good point, so I will expond on the location.
The Island is located 60 miles off the coast of Celeborne and is privately owned. The island is Home to three large resorts and 4 smaller hotels. It offers several tourist shoping areas and spas. The rest of the island is covered with dense jungle like terrain. There is an airstrip, several large and small docks. Fishing, hunting (if many species of animals) and sight seeing are offered. The resprt that is hosting the event has a large hotel ( 26 floors) with a lobby bar, an expo center, many meeting rooms, a lagoon swimming area, tennis courts, 3 different 5 star restaurants, roof top bar, and indoor pool. The hotel also has its own dock and boats with sea access.
The island itself is not under the control of any nation, and maintains it's own police force. Guests will not be checked for weapons, but will be checked for explosives (I really don't want any of the hotels blown up).

I am going to give this several days for everyone to sign up and to allow myself time to set up the schedule.

If you have any questions please let me know.

*Response from the nation of Crownguard*

The nation of Crownguard is intrigued by this conference, as we have not had many problems with vampires recently after several brilliant successes with various techniques. We are sending 500 USD enclosed with this message, and sending a representative from PAD (paranormal affairs division), Kayla Deveraux, a highly decorated reasearcher and field agent, as well as a concentration concerning the disease of vampirism. We possess only the best of equipment used to deal with this menace, and are willing to share several unique weapons to combat the threat to society such deviants pose.

Training and schematics will of course be made available. We hope to host at least one seminar, and have several "vampires", caught in the process of murder and prepared to act as specimens to the scientific community. We look forward to your response.

Subject: Summit Invitation

Message:

We would like to book seating at this summit to learn more about the ever-growing threat that vampires and other supernatural creatures pose to our mainland’s security.

Recently after gaining support from our regional CEO, we have had a substantial increase to our funds and as such we are branching out our current operations. Where we previously funding small hunting groups we are now capable of funding your society as well as providing highly trained recruit for you to examine and take as you please, should you choose one we shall continue to make their payments to further assist your society.

We do not represent our government in this matter and we would prefer that they are kept unaware of our assistance at this time as they are very paranoid about corporations funding outside organisations, but we are listing you are a charity and as such we can make our assistance tax-deductible. As such we are willing to pay triple for our representative to come along.

Should we find our interests are mutual we will look further into the prospect of funding for your organisation.

Kain wrapped up in his Cloak and checked he had everything. He had the silver long sword with him. He knew of what silver's properties where to do with magic, it was espically useful in a spellcasting in battle.

He slid it into it's scabbard by his side, the scabbard was black and polished. As it slid down the scabbard it gave a gentle high pitched ring. It was certainly more pleasant than the Brightblade's hollow screech.

He set out to the summit.

----

Kain arrived after a little while of travel, he had no car or plane as some of these people did. He used a method of teleportation, but such things where long and complex. Kain hated using teleportation, he prefered to walk.

When he arrived he was rather shocked at the extravagance of the place. He knew he spent his money, but on this? He shook his head, he did not need this, he only wish to discuss matter of vampirism. He walked around for a little while when a guard ran towards him.

At least the guard did not shoot him on size, they where all informed about him. The green flesh and talons where a dead give away, even though Kain could hide such features with spells, it only drained his magic. He had already used enough by teleporting.

The guard began to search Kain, for bombs. He put his hand over the tiny satchel. The guard looked at it and asked to look in its contents, as his detectors detected someothing metal within it.

Kain smiled and opened up the satchel, and pulled out an impossibly large book for what the size of the satchel was. It was iron bound. Kain produced three similer books, each a different colour. He showed that there was no bomb within it, by flicking through the pages. The words which the gaurd saw where complete gobbledegook, they span and danced on the page. The other three where a normal language, only he could not read it.

Satisified he allowed him past, and Kain continued to look around. He looked at the sea, and saw no beauty in it. He looked at a small fowerbed and saw no beauty. He sighed and continued on. He saw death in all living things, amocking curse of the things he had once held so dear.

Kain made his way to where the invitation said for him to go.

Father Gabriel stepped out of the taxi. His apprentice followed behind him at a respectful pace as they walkedd up to the security guards.
Opening his brief case Gabriel showed them there was nothing inside except papers, a Bible, a red bound notebook, and a black book, with the letters Denischen horhba Vanpyir written across the front.
He walked into the hotel, and got the keys to his room, he always made sure, where he could that he got the same one. Number 666. The parallel amused him.
Inside he began to unpack. Taking off the fake bottom of his suitcase he pulledd out his long silver knife, wooden steak, and loaded his automatic handgun with its silver bullets.
He walked outsided, it was time to explore.

In preparation for the visit, Stuart was put under intense mental and medical preparation, as the company knew full well what vampires and hunters could do.

Firstly they put him into a specially made machine designed to place him under a heavy hypnotic trance, once that was achieved the machine would program protections into his mind, mental walls, traps and diversions… subconsciously he knew how to pass them all, but anyone prying into his mind would be in for some tough tests of mental strength… the most hidden secrets however were completely blocked. Finally his mentality was checked to assure them he hadn’t gone mad over night.

Then came the psychical preparation, which included simple physical check-ups and checks for heart problems, then they added a small explosive chip on the back of his spinal cord… not enough to hurt others, but enough to instantly kill him should the need arise.

Stuart had occasionally asked himself about his corporations motives and morals… after all, most companies don’t give you the proverbial suicide pill, but then again, most companies don’t fight vampires and house their single employees.

After all of this he was to board a private jet to head towards the summit, it was hired out from another local company using the name of another real company which was secretly part of the Omnirom Corporation.

It wouldn’t be long now…

OOC: Best I could do on short notice… I usually do this when I’m in the mood, but a lot of the time, I’m not in the mood.

Ushas sat in a coffee bar across the street of the hotel. The voyage had been swift yet tiring, and his only desire when he had arrived had been ten hours of solid sleep. He had been here for a few days now, and had noticed the hotel did not have any problems with weapons being present in ones luggage. Figuring it would be part of the arrangements made for the conference, he had given no attention to it.

Sipping on his espresso, he stared at Kain, sitting on a bench not far away from him. Ushas did not attempt to spy on him in secret, there was no reason for that. Instead, he looked straight at Kain, with an expression of curiosity on his face. Ordering a second cup of coffee, he noticed a second person approaching Kain.

How Javier Reyes arrived would prove difficult to discover should anyone be interested in tracing his passage. The thought of being observed sent a momentary shiver down his spine. If anyone were to begin digging into Javier's past and present he'd be forced to take steps. And one step usually led to another.

His first few hours on the island went into studying the lay of the land and the methods that the conventions guests were using to make their way here. They were a colourful lot, but clearly not fully aware of the extent of vampirism and the fact that it wore many faces.
On the rosters he found few variants on the theme; they seemed only aware of the more common types of vampirism. Did they truly believe that vampires were a single species?

Aware of the presence of powerful creatures in darkened rooms, Javier walked the sunlit streets trying to get a feel for the place. Over the hours, he found himself wondering if even vampires knew of the diversity within what was usually classed a single breed.

As night fell, he felt them expanding out into the darkness. And just as he could feel them, they felt him too and kept their distance.

OOC: Can I make a late, unsanctioned appearance? I am a future-tech nation, but I can make an unscheduled "oops" on a Jump and pop a couple of soldiers (no ships) into the middle of this. I figure high tech instead of magic might balance.

EDIT: What rules are we playing by here. anyway? Classic Vampire (Bram Stoker)? Anne Rice? The Masquerade? Lergacy of Kain? Other? Basically, I want to know if this is stake and garlic only, or if blowing them down with a .50 cal slug will kill them, or if I'm going to have to uber-disintigrate them to get them to slow down.

The way I feel about it is that if they cannot be killed by a bullet, a stake, a fire, the sun or any combination there of ( You don't have to be able to be killed by all of them but at least one, and a weakness like garlic or holy water is nice also.) will be put into a torpedo and shot into the sun (read as ignored).

The van winded its way around the streets. On its side it bore a large Cross and showed markings of the ArchDiocese of Agrigento. Per Archbishop Alfonso D'oro's request the formation of this group was made official. Gathered from across the country, these were the best they had to offer and were now united by an official institution, although Vampires have not yet been officially recognized.

They pulled in front of the Hotel, and one man exited, closing the reinforced door behind him. He was of tall stature and fair skin.

There was a flicker, a shudder in reality. If someone had been attuned to right and wrong in the temporal sense, they would have known it. If someone held a form of psyonic connection to reality, they would have doubled in pain. But for most, it was unnoticed, a slight deja vu, or a loss of concentration. For Lennox, it was pure hell.

"Where's the fire support?" Sgt. Lennox demanded to his officer, Lt. Maddison.

Maddison grimaced. "It's probably dead! We're pulling back, Sarge." The LT stood and motioned to the next line of soldiers, who rolled away from the firing lines. They dived back into the city proper a little farther, running for the last couple shuttles.

Lennox fired his rifle and backpedalled, tapping Riggs on the shoulder as he fell back. The other man nodded, began backing, slapped the next man. Riggs let fly a rocket into the advancing horde and ducked into the shuttle. The soldiers filed in as Lennox stood at the bottom, his Gauss Rifle snarling. The last group was approaching. With a flare of plasma, they were reduced to drifting cinders and steam. "Shit." Lennox swore, backing up the ramp. "Go!"

The shuttle lifted from the ground, two more following. The last shuttle took a hit to the port engine, spiralling back down to its fiery death. Lennox dived into his crash seat, lowered his gear, and braced. The pilot was speaking to a controller on the Isis, "We're inbound on vector two one decimal three. You got that bay open for us?"

"Roger that, Shuttle. Drives are hot. Get here and we'll Jump." There was an explosion in the background, and screams came over the comm. "Hurry, Shuttle, we are getting pounded!"

Two more Shadow Capital Ships, Dreadnoughts, Jumped into the system, bearing down on the Isis. The pilot saw this, and her heart turned cold. "This is Shuttle One. We're reading two more Dreadnoughts en route."

The response was remorseful. "We see them. We're carrying forty thousand refugees..."

"We understand." the soldiers in the shuttle hung their heads, knowing their death sentence was passed.

The Isis's massive Jump Gates aligned, and the great ship vanished into the Void with a ripple that shook time. The two shuttles on approach were caught in the wake, their small systems rattled. Time bent, the x,y,z, and omega coordinates scrambled. The pilots tried to keep control, but they were spinning around the singularity with rapidly accelerating forces. Lennox tried to grab the crash handles, but his arm froze midway, everything froze for a infinite moment. Time shattered, and the shuttle was filled with a green wind that shook the men apart.

Another blast, and the shuttle was flying again. The second shuttle was badly damaged, rent by the forces. The lead shuttle was mostly intact but damaged. The pilot was slumped bloody across the console as the ship screamed through some atmosphere. The second shuttle was ripped apart, reduced to plasma in a catastrophic blast. The first shuttle cleared the cloud bank and carroomed towards a city. "Shit." Lennox delcared as he saw the ground closing. "This is gonna su-" the viewscreen shattered on impact, and everything went black.

The shuttle came to a burning rest in an abandoned warehouse district on the edge of time, a trail of destruction behind. While few, if any, felt the temporal rift, everyone heard the sonic boom and saw the fiery trail. The news called it a meteorite. The government would agree. What they knew was unknown. But the ordinary populace would buy the convenient lie. The survivors pulled themselves from the wreck, took the intact gear, placed the charges, and blew the shuttle apart. They fled into the darkness.

The first thing Lennox thought when he came around was how much he hated space travel. The second was to wonder where he was. The third was to reiterate how much he hated space travel. He sat up, shook his head. The other survivors had laid him in the warehouse they were now hiding in. Wincing in pain, he asked, "Where are we?"

Riggs answered with a shrug. "Dunno. Pre-space travel planet. We'll have to find some way back, but we're getting real funny readings on sensors."

"What do you mean, funny?"

Riggs pointed to the stairs. "Carl's on the roof. There's a large gathering of powerful beings here, light and dark oriented. We're not getting Shadow elements, but we do have Dark Spots on sensors."

"Dread lords?"

"Or the more common Vamp." Riggs shrugged again. "I dunno. You're the ranking survivor, your call. But I say we check it out."

Lennox looked at his black armor and Fusion Rifle. "Right, but not like this. We pick up normal gear, normal clothes, and we recon as locals. No nano use, no whipping out anything remotely high tech. We must not destroy this continuum."

Riggs nodded. "Yes, sir. I'll get you a team ready."

Now we will indoruce our anti-vamp special team we sent:
Major Maxim Novak, a skilled vampire-hunter, who uses mostly firearms to defeat the creatures.
Captain Boris Reskovsky, a very loyal officer. Uses mostly the classic ways to get rid of his enemies.
2nd Lieutenant Vladislava Gorbatsov, a skilled shooter who don't fear a vampire, even if it was a powerful one.

Maxim is going to be in the parties mostly, Boris and Vladislava are mostly securing him and doing their own things.

Maxim walks out of his room and takes a seat. Then he says to a waiter: "Get me a bottle of vodka and tell your employer that i want to speak with him"

Winter Akizuki stood out even within her home country, because she was albino -- her skin a pigmentless white, her hair carrying a faint, pale pink tinge, her eyes red. Outside her home country, she stood out even further, because she was one of the foxgirls of Ravenspire, a race little-known elsewhere: largely human in appearance, but with foxlike ears and a tail, and sharper teeth.

She wore a kimono of deepest midnight blue, with white and gold points scattered across it in a starfield pattern. Its obi was the same pink shade as her hair.

A shrill cry filled the air, Richton instantly recognized it as Angela's, he rushed down the familiar path to the river bank. Angela couldent have gone far, as he had only let his eyes off of her for a moment. As he entered the clearing, a second scream brought tears to his eyes. Standing at the rivers edge was something unnatural, it stood on two legs, but they were bent like a toad preparing to leap. Its skin was a dark green, and covered with bulges and bumps. The creatures head split down the middle into a massive verticle mouth, in which was his precious younger sister. Tears streamed down her face as Richton could do nothing but watch. The jaws came together fast, he shut his eyes, but her last scream told him all he needed to know. Slowly reopening them, he turned and ran his fastest, the creature could be heard leaping after, again and again. Richton woke with a start, the plane was landing, and he had obviously screamed in his sleep, as people were staring from the sides. He quietly excused himself from the plane and headed towards the hotel, hoping that he had arrived in time to book a room.

She nods, carrying 2 briefcases, her assoaciates carryinng two more, presumably clothing and such. Walking into the hotel, they nods to the attendant, taking a key to their respective suite and head up the elevator, thinking quietly. Each, of course, did NOT go unarmed in this regard, they all carried curiously designed matte black pistols, the barrels enlongated almost in the shape of Lugers. The two associates also cradled Danglar SMGs (states arent important), just in case. She sighed, flipping opent he first suitcase and drawing out a strangely designed clip, one of miniature "syringes", each filled with a vivid blue liquid. She loads one of the clips into the gun, checking the red light to make sure it was on. The specimens were going to be a bitch to get out of the plane and store.....

Lennox, now dressed in what appeared to be normal clothes, accompanied by Riggs and Jaeger, approached the conference. They wore normal street clothes, khakis and baggy work shirts, and they carried Tungsten 10mm Pistols, nothing far beyond the ordinary. Riggs carried a briefcase with him, and the others had duffels. They wore what appeared to be sunglasses, but nanosensor arrays were embedded to give them tactical advantage.

Gabrielle felt the ancient power in the creature next to him, he knew he would have to be careful, the beast may try mind control of some sort, he was cautious but not afraid. Fear was an unknown virtue to him.
"My name is Gabrielle" He said "You may have heard of me, i doubt it. I have killed many of your kind. I believe many people here have, yet you walk around unscathed. Why is it that you are not afraid of being here?"

"I am not afraid, as I share some of your agenders. But first I must ask your reasons for doing what you do. Why do you kill vampires? What made your past kills worthy of death?" Kain asked, looking hard into his eyes, he seemed like a conscience to ask him the questions he may never have asked.

Gabrielle waited a moment before answering. He stared back into Kain's eyes. "When i was twelve years old, my brother and i were walking home from my mothers house. She was very sick and we lived with our aunt. When we were about half way home, a vampire as i was to later discover attacked us. My brother escaped, I did not." For a moment Gabrielle was lost in the memory, then he pulled down the neck of his high black shirt, ancient scars decorated his neck. They were bite marks, they were deep.
"The Vampire drank of me, before i blacked out he was torn away frfom me. I saw a man there, a powerful man. He had a long sword, he jabbed at the Vampire a few times, and in a smooth motion cut his head from his body.

Stuart’s flight had been an uneventful one, even though it was a private jet, the only film they had on board was “Groundhog Day” which he had seen many, many times before. They were quickly given permission to land and afterwards they were given the customary security check that always welcomed you at the airport.

The jetlag wearing him down, Stuart called a taxi so he could get to the hotel room he booked and recover from the flight. The ride was slow as traffic was a little heavier then normal but he didn’t care… at least he wasn’t walking.

Not that Stuart was out of shape, it was company policy for him to work out, learn how to use a gun and aim for small targets with speed and efficiency… Stuart resembled what many would except from a large corporation, a young businessman with a grey suit and plain tie. He didn’t bring any weapons with him because he was going to a Summit on vampire hunting… he would be surrounded by people who deal with vampires every day.

Upon reaching the hotel, Stuart unpacked and then had a shower… he was now in Celeborne and the Summit wouldn’t be for a day or so, maybe he should do a little site seeing…

Javier closed his eyes; impressions seeped through the dark like stars in the void. A hard, sharp shard of crystal; broken yet somehow restored - the priest, he'd glimpsed earlier. Ice, burning with a frozen fire; the vampire Kain that Javier Reyes had been avoiding - mental shields were wrapped tightly around his core, he passed as a phantom, unobserved.

It was the pale jewel-presence that fascinated him most. Smoke wrapped in diamond, shimmering with a moon-sheen that seemed almost as otherworldly as the light of creatures fae.
The strange pale girl in the blue kimono.

Opening his eyes, he locked on her and approached. A foxgirl, he realised, wondering what she'd be doing so far away from Ravenspire.
He debated turning away, he knew nothing of the curious foxgirls, or what they were capable of.
Decided, she may well have sensed him approaching already; he stepped to her side. Dimmed the fire of his eyes; allowed only a glimmer of green, sunlight lancing through a leafy-green canopy and turned to face her.

"Vampires," he began, "are more oppressed than tyrants these days." The timbre of his voice was rich and deep, more silver than gold if colour were applied - silken, cool. It lacked the warmth of gold, wielded the allure rather of the moon's metal. "There," he continued, a fluid gesture of the hand pointing out Kain, "sits a vampire of virtue and goodness I overheard. If we were to spare only the virtuous and the good, I can't imagine a world inhabited by much. Of course, only vampire's are required to be virtuous...or dead."
He raised his eyebrows, dark against the faded bronze sheen of skin, indicating an interest in her thoughts.

Beside her, he felt underdressed. The velveteen-grey of his close-fitting cardigan and black pants lacked the detail of her starscape kimono. It made him bland by comparison.
Waiting for her response, he took the moment to further study her.

Kain thought about this for a short while, and sat back.

"Now there are words I have not heard in a while." Kain smiled in rememberance when he was called that. But he knew that was not true.

"No..I am not a person of goodness and virtue many times...I have done many sins to which I am ashamed. I have no qualm about people killing them, if they had oppertunity to use other methods of feeding. But I hate just as much those who attack vampires purely for what they are. "Prejudice against vampires is common, and with good reason which I understand. But I work to break that prejudice, you should judge the person, not on thier affliction. One eyebrow raised as Winter followed the man's gesture. "Kain? Here?" Her mouth curved into an expression neither smile nor smirk, but somehow in between. "I should have guessed. This would interest him. I wonder whether he will present a lecture." Her voice was low in timbre and languid, but her pronunciation was very precise; it might be that she had not yet quite mastered the language, or she might simply be that controlling of her speech. "I wonder what they will think of a vampire who hunts vampires?"

She didn't let the question rest. "But I digress. There are places where neither is required, even of a vampire. It is a postmodern world in many areas; we have neither virtue nor good as an absolute, any more. I cannot say that this is a bad thing."

"A vampire killing vampires," Javier mused. "Is it really so far removed from man killing men? In my country we give the vampire due process through courts. Are we wrong?"
His tone was mild, as though their conversation were merely idle and of little consequence. But the intensity of his gaze, green-fire eyes large and unblinking, belied this.
Before the silence grew between them and the foxgirl could present her reply, he added softly "And are you here for the lectures?"

His features were difficult to read. Were the lips twisted into a sneer that spoke as eloquently as words - 'what do hunters know of the hunted, other than how to kill their prey'? Or a half-moon curve of sadness communicating the same words in a different tone.

"Partly. But mostly because I am intrigues by a recent surge in both vampiric incidents and the public exposure of vampire hunters. Following a period of relative dormancy, the supernatural is becoming more prevalent, except in those places inimical to it. Such as Ravenspire." Winter chuckled quietly, humorlessly, at that. "Wrong? Not by my standards, at least. Our law doesn't discriminate. Of course, drinking the blood of an unwilling being is a good way to get killed in accordance with the 'self-defense and defense of others' clause."

"I should go, I need to prepare for a lecture." Kain said and stood up.

"I would shake you hand but." Kain smiled and showed him his cloven talons. He walked off, his cloak a green colour, which seemed to act in it's own way, as if it didn't need to obey gravity or the wind.

Kain walked off, and went into the hotel smiling a little. He was quite pleased, although the shadows at the back of his mind told him of troubles, Kain put those thoughts aside. He had been depressed for too long. Now was not time for self-pity. It did no good anyway Kain thought.

He walked into his room and reached into a tiny pouch, which he produced an impossibly large book for that minisqule pouch. The book which he produced was brown, and had his white symbol upon it. It was not a clan symbol, he no longer had one.

He opened up his diary and flicked through the pages. To anyone else, the pages where totally illegible, the words span and danced before your eyes. But to Kain the words where finely written, and legible. Only he could read them, it would tak emany years for anyone else to dispell a single sentance. This bookheld his deepest thoughts, only when he died would the enchantments crumble.

He flicked through carefully due to his cloven talons. He had many times ripped a page in the past, or destroyed a pen due to it, much to his annoyance. It also gave certain....social problems at the best times. Not that Kain was very social.

He produced a silver pen, looked at the runes upon it which he had carved. It had taken him days to make that pen, it was complex and unique. No other person could write with it and understand what they where writing. There was no code, just complex magic which made the writing completely illegible.

He began to write his lecture, it became rather long. During the time Kain was lost in thought, he found peace when he wrote, the kind of refelction. he wrote far better than he did speak he felt.

Kain is a complex man, in life and in undeath. His many experiances have changed him more than any other person could understand, the trials and curses he had to endure where far mroe than any normal vampire, mentally and physically. Few understood this...

(OOC Please still reply to Kain's previous answer, but just consider this after your responce. It is just so I can continue)

A small man in a plain blue suit approaches the microphone " Welcome to the first vampire hunters summit. I am Charles Newton, historian for the VanHelsing society. We have several lectures scheduled for the next two days, and an ongoing trade show with the latest in hunting technology. Tonight however we encourage you to mingle and get to know one another. A buffet style dinner is being served, and the bar is open tonight. Again, welcome to the summit." With that Charles walked off the stage and began to walk around greeting people.

Ushas had been wondering around the island for the past days. He had a gut feeling that trouble would come of this conference, and he felt it would be wise to gather as much knowledge about his surroundings as possible, before hell would break loose.

Now, he was watching the Roanian ship touch down, with Inquisitors exiting the vessel. When he recognized them, he looked wuite unhappy. Inquisitors were not known for their ability to keep the peace. Slowly, Ushas turned around and walked off, back to the hotel. He had his orders...

Kain finished his writing, the numerous pages of his work was written in a florishing text, his writing was sophisiticated and intellegent. He was rather proud of it, and closed the book and placed it back into the small pouch which could not have possibly held the book. He looked around the room and left, going outside to feel the cool breeze. It was refreshing.

His Cloak decided to go with the wind this time, and blew gently in the breeze, the purple cloth was magical, the ripples within it caused by it's freewill, not the effect of wind or gravity. Kain set out to go and go where he would give his lecture.

(OOC Where would Kain give his lecture?)
11-11-2003, 00:02
James flew along the road on his motorbike, the wind whipping his face. His shoulder length hair was flung backwards, and he was loving every second. He began to slow down when he saw a building that seemed about right. He pulled over, and reached into his long, brown overcoat. He pulled out a scrap of paper, and checked the address.

He approached the building cautiously, mentally scanning the surrounding area for any signs of spies - it seemed safe enough. James walked up to the bouncer outside - a big man, well built, he must've been at least 6"6.

"Name?"

"James. James Belmont."

"Not on the list. Maybe you've got the wrong address."

The bouncer had barely even glanced at the list - perhaps it was the way he looked? He had to admit, he didn't look like a legendary vampire hunter now. His shoulder length hair was greasy and tangled, and the stubble on his chin suggested that he hadn't shaved for several days.

"No, I've got the right address. This is the VanHelsing vampire hunter's summit, correct?"

"...Yes. Admission is $500."

"I don't have $500"

"Then you aren't going in."

James was getting annoyed by now.

"Ok, I don't like you, and it's obvious you don't like me, so I'm going to make this nice and simple." As he spoke the next sentence, he opened up his long overcoat. "Let me in."

Inside was a wide variety of weapons, ranging from holy crosses, to crystals, to a pair of uzis. There were steel tonfas, vials, books, knives, axes, even a small stopwatch. They all had the same holy glow around them though. One item in particular was eminating a lot of holy power, a whip. The 'Vampire Killer' handed down from Belmont to Belmont. It was almost a thousand years old, and had defeated Dracula on several occasions.

The bouncer's eyebrows raised in surprise, and James stepped around the bouncer, dropping five hundred dollar bills oin the floor as he swept past with a smile on his face. He approached the reception, smiling.

"The name's James Belmont. I just payed on the door."

"Inimical," Javier savoured the word, rolled it over his tongue like a fragrant cigar. "Inimical and the supernatural are usually hand in hand. Don't you think? Such things thrive in these circumstances."

He pondered the young foxgirl, wondered what secrets drifted through her mind.
Do you perceive as quickly, as easily, the vampires drifting through the world?

"What are you hoping to learn here?"

"Gentlemen and ladies, our first speaker will be beginning his lecture in just a few moments. Those of you who wish to attend the lecture by Kain Irenicus, please meet in the green room."

The green room is located on the second floor, it is stadium style seating, has one wall that is all windows, a table in the back with snacks and drinks, and a small stage with a podium at the front of the room. Let the games begin.

"What are you hoping to learn here?"

"Ah. I have not been clear." She smiles slightly, as though embarrassed, but her pigmentless skin does not flush with blood. "In our case, it isn't the people who make it inimical, but the country itself. Magic, psychic power, spiritualism, divine intervention... none of it works there, and most native-born citizens are immune to those forces. It is... not unique, no, but unusual."

She frowns slightly, as though trying to recall something just on the edge of memory, before continuing. "Many vampires don't fare well there. Some species... if that's an appropriate term... seem to possess a mystical component to their feeding, and so they find that the blood they drink there does not nourish them. And almost all are unable to... reproduce... while in the country, because there, the dead cannot rise. But for all that, we do have vampires of our own..."

"But I've been ignoring your question. I apologize; it wasn't my intent to avoid answering. I'd like to see what new methods are in practice, what new weapons are being used, and whether the ideology has changed at all. Many hunters seem rather indiscriminate."
11-11-2003, 12:50
Kain stepped up onto the podium, and he looked calm and ready. He spoke a word a three small blue lights formed around him. The effect was rather remarkable, it cast Kain in a rather sensitive light, one of a calmness which added to his already powerful self control.

He began, his cloak at his side around one of his arms, a deep purple, reflecting his mood. His white hair streamed onto the back of the Cloak, contrasting greatly with the green skin and purple Cloak. He began, his voice steady, as he looked at each one in turn. His voice filled the room, his calm and caring voice held no pretences, yet it held a rather serious tone about it.

“Many of you are sure are wondering why I am here. I am a vampire, attending a vampire hunter’s summit. Yet if I might have a few moments to ask a few questions. I am considered by some of you as an enemy, as being called #57…to some I am friend. But I speak all to you the same now, give me a moment to speak as a person.” Kain said and looked around, pausing for a moment.

“May I ask a question to those of you who hunt those who are vampires? Why would you dedicate your life to kill vampires?” Kain asked to them looking at them. A few strands of his white hair stranded down to his face, the thin strands where delicate and reflected some of the light.

Kain knew he was in danger…. he did not have the Brightblade. Still there was a high chance of being able to escape…but Kain was not happy, not happy at all. He was uneasy really, but his calm outer exterior spoke clearly and with conviction.

[OOC:Bah… I’ve got lost in a few threads and I’m only just beginning to catch up. This happens before Kain’s speech]

Stuart raised his hand quickly, running out towards the road…

“Taxi!” He shouted. The car begun to slow down and veered towards to park next to him. “Vanhelsing society building please”.

Stuart clambered into the taxicab and turned his head towards the window… it was a nice place, maybe even nice enough to retire to some day. The journey wasn’t all that long as they had made a point of housing him near the building, after all, Omnirom was now a big customer and you always treated the customer well. Stuarts image hadn’t changed all that much, another grey suit, white shirt and blue tie outfit… he looked just like a businessman, he felt like a business man and thus he was happy. This is just business as far as he is concerned… threats like vampires, werewolves and other… monstrosities were a plague on mankind, often living their un-lives as nothing more then parasites, consuming our resources and giving nothing back to the community.

Well, now it was time to find out what these people were doing and to find out whether they were worthy of Omnirom’s support.

The taxi came to a halt… they were at the building. Stuart paid the driver and tipped him generously… it wasn’t his money so he didn’t mind. He simply walked up towards the building with his briefcase and entered without a fuss. When they asked to see his briefcase he give it up and allowed them to search it, only finding papers and a laptop. Stuart wasn’t here to fight and should vampires crash the party then he’ll be surrounded by people who know what they are doing. Calmly… he made his way into the conference hall and took a seet.

As the receptionist handed the room key over to James, he pocketed it and left the building. He grabbed a heavy black bag from his motorcycle, and went back inside, up the stairs, and eventually found his way to the room. He dumped the bag on the bed, and got undressed, ready to shower before the summit began. He stood there under the hot water, allowing it to flow around his body... I wonder...who will be here?

He released his mind, and suddenly the world became much sharper, and yet blurred. Inanimate objects, walls, floors, became secondary to living things. People, animals, even plants, suddenly stood out, as he drifted around the silent halls. He approached the main hall as a representitive of the VanHelsing society began addressing the hunters. Damnit, it wouldn't be long until the conference began.

James got out of the shower, and dried off quickly. He barely had time to shave and get dressed. He still felt greatly refreshsed, however, and it was good to be in different clothes. He wore a victorian style white shirt, with a long white coat that didn't cover his white trousers. Many people said that he looked like Richter, both in facial features and in his choice of formal wear. This was the same type of suit worn by Richter against Dracula all those years ago...Ahem. (OOC: Pic of Richter here (http://members.aol.com/HughSterb/reviews/drac/rich.gif))

He layed out his weaponry, taking only a few of them. His 'Vampire Killer' whip, that he carried everywhere, a holy cross, a few bottles of holy water, a pair of uzis and a small vial of white holy ahses (Bibuti).

James found his way downstiars, as the representitive got up again.

"Gentlemen and ladies, our first speaker will be beginning his lecture in just a few moments. Those of you who wish to attend the lecture by Kain Irenicus, please meet in the green room."

Kain Irenicus! He was here? Hrm...perhaps they could talk afterwards. In the meantime, he was concerned with what a vampire, even one such as Kain, was doing here. He went upstairs to the green room, and stood at the back, out of sight, waiting for Kain to take to the stage.

“May I ask a question to those of you who hunt those who are vampires? Why would you dedicate your life to kill vampires?”

James stepped forward, his whip coiled in his right hand, arms folded.

"The question is, Kain, why shouldn't we hunt vampires? They have done nothing to aid us, nothing that would deem them worthy of an unlife. Good hearted vampires are few and far between, and I would never knowingly harm one - but of course, as you're still standing there, you already know that. Vampires are innately evil. They use black magic. They are harmed by holy water, afraid of holy men such as myself. There is no denying it."

"Are vampires innately evil? How do you know this? Would you imply it would be our nature to be evil? And just because one vampire might walk a darker path than the others, should the other vampires be damned? If so, I would damn all humans, for I have seen many vile acts. I was not human before my change, so perhaps it might be different for a human transformation."

"You speak as though vampires have no choice. I assure you, we do. Even if we where innately evil, which we are not, some may choose to deny this fatalistic judgement and defy that which has been forced upon us, this evil status...not that this is the case that we are. Now I am not saying there are not evil vampires out there...I admit there are many. But to hunt a vampire simply due to thier affliction is maddness.....I have to say this. I am was not human, but I have seen many of your race. And I have noticed this. Many assume that other races have no freewill, as opposed to yourselves. I claim this is false." Kain said. He felt more tense, his talons digging in slightly in the podum without him realisiing.

"Why? Because just as a vampire is innately evil, humans are innately lazy. Don't deny it - it's true for the majority. It is this laziness, which is inherited from humans, that makes vampires evil. Do not tell me that your life has been easy, Kain Irenicus. Do not tell me that staying on the path of rightousness has been easy, for I know it has not. For a vampire, it is easier to live as they please, feed on who they please, kill who they please. Staying true and good requires too much effort, and has little reward. It is my duty to protect those who cannot protect themselves from these beasts, these creatures, this virus. That is why I hunt them."

(OOC: Just a little humor with the laziness thing :D)
11-11-2003, 18:13
"You have a point there. It would be easier for me to kill and hunt like some beast. Yet my Sire has taught me well, as should all Sires teach thier childer well. Like a parent to a child, the Sire has much effect upon the childer. I agree with you, those who hunt humans or other sentient beings should be punished...but I am sure many would be better put into rehabilitation, not simply killed. These people can learn...many might just be vicitims from bastards who turned them against thier will. Those who do turn others, should be killed. I agree with you there. In the perfect world, every vampire could be taught to work with others, to use blood banks and the like. But unfortunatly many cannot. It is simply something to bear in mind."

"Vampirism is a virus. Also it is a blessing. It is a double edged sword....one which should be treated with great caution, the decision to become one is a great one I can tell you. But it has advantages and disadvantages, it is just if a vmapire chooses to let those disadvantages take hold of him, and make them a beast."

"So what do you propose to do about vampirism? You said yourself that it is merely a virus, yet for some reason, you are against merely destroying this virus. It is quite possible. Perhaps if the church commanded as much power as it used to, this problem would never have become an issue. So, I will say it again. If you do not want to stop vampirism, what do you want to do?"
11-11-2003, 20:39
"I propose this. I believe that much violance could be stopped, many lives saved, vampiric and human lives if we simply take a few measures. Many vampires have been attacked as mortals, and are simply trying to survive, confused and alone within this world, without guidance as thier Sire's have abandoned them. I feel strongly that in many cases, newly fledged vampires can be taught how to come to terms with thier new and often frightening abilities. I fully endorse those who do bring justice to those who would turn poeple against thier will, to feed off the innocent, to terrorise the populance. But I detest those who would hunt those who might be able to change and become positive members of the community." Kain said.

He was getting more and more tense, Kain knew this was it. If someone was going to do something, they would do it now. Readied, Kain awaited the responce.

"It may be so," Winter admitted. "But the supernatural rarely was beneficial to us, and the divine much less so. There are no gods of Ravenspire, but there are thousands of hells. Since the crystal shell first manifested, however, it has been a nation of men and women empowered to... or left to, if you prefer... guide their own course. OOC: There are ten of them, armed with finer weapons than you can even design at your age.

An older gentleman in the back in a perfectly tailored suit stood up " Kain, I call you a liar. Satan is the father of lies and you are his chosen son. You try to pull the wool over the eyes of the faithful assembled here. You are here on false pretences, claiming to give a speech to this august body on hunting vampires, instead you try to sway these good men and women from their god appointed task of ending vampireism. "

“Religon is then? I am Satan’s son am I? Even now, after all I have done for you people, you still believe me to be evil? Roania’s inquisitors owe me their lives for my won sacrifice, which almost killed me. Take a moment to look upon my actions…my aims. I grow wiery of this constant persecution from those who have not seen the truth.”

The Inquisitors all stand up, suits tearing around them as their robes appear. The captain points his weapon at the vampire. "Kain Irenicus, in the name of the lord God I place you under arrest. You have the right to a trial by ordeal, anything you say can and will be used against you in said trial."

Kain took a few step backwards, from the podium and closed his eyes.

“The path of of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the equities and tyranny of evil men….” Kain said quietly. He could run….he could run easily. Yet there was so much for him to do still…so much. He stood there for long seconds, he reached for his sword, but he but his hand by his side.

“On what charge?” Kain asked them calmly.

He closed his eyes and thought of why he had to do this. Why the world was like this. He stayed where he was…. he awaited their arresting hands. He prepared to run for it. He was calm however…

(OOC He has made no move of violence, your people would not shoot. They would make an effort to arrest him yes, but Kain will do something. Put handcuffs on and stuff but wait for me to react.)

OOC: There are ten of them, armed with finer weapons than you can even design at your age.
OOC: He's not targetting you. He's just trying to protect himself. And, I use high quality weapons in very small quality. To date, I have 12 ships in NS "reality", and that is it! I don't have a planet, a support base, or even a space station (yet); I have to rely on allies to maintain my equipment and ships! So I think I can have good weapons (while they last), and I resent the imications of your statement. Quality over quantity.

Roth looked back at the men. Impressive he thought. He looked at his own 'button up' silk short sleave shirt with a picture of the Virgin Mother on it, then to his two pistols. He slowly stood up, and moved towards an aisle seat, and sat back down. He wanted a better angle on Kain getting blasted, and a chance to get some rounds in if he tried to run.
12-11-2003, 17:21
Kain, be ready to mist at any moment. This looks like it's going to get ugly...

James took his right hand off of the customised uzi, searching for the stopwatch...damnit! He'd left it upstairs. He had to get it, fast. He bolted straight out of the door behind him, leaving a golden tinge where his aurahad been. He sprinted down the hall to his room, fumbling with the key. He grabbed the stopwatch from the bed, and a small pouch of stones. He turned again, slamming the door on the way out, and sprinted back towards the green room, his aura glowing golden.
12-11-2003, 19:44
Kain readied himself for the pain that was certainly assured. he looked around at those who pointed thier weapons against him. He remained totally calm, and awaited their responce....

I am...do not get yourself killed. Do not harm them, it will only fuel thier hatred. Kain replied.

How could these bastards be so narrowminded? After all I have done for them? I saved thier hides within the temple, and still they percequte me? What maddness has spawned this logic? I see that some humans cling onto thier blissful fantasies for confort...thier eyes clouded to the truth.

(OOC Note, Kain refers humans as the race as he himself was not human when he was mortal. He was a Psi, an offshoot of the human race with greater phychic abilites etc. They seperate themselves from humans due to thier society and ways, gifts and talents and most importatnly thier magic.)

For a second, just a second, an image appeared before Kain, and Kain alone. Mephisto stood tall above the Inquisitors, red strings floating upwards from them and into his hands. He smiled, and when he spoke his voice could only be heard by Kain. Foolish vampire, you had the oppurtunity to join me. Now, you will die at the hand of my puppets

The image faded, and the captain snapped to attention. "For being a vampire, an abberation in the eyes of the lord!"
13-11-2003, 19:05
Kain saw him...he saw him in all his power. He almost fell to his knees and trembled due to the ultimatium that he gave. He dissapeared and Kain faced thier accustations once more.

He heard thier accustation and pure anger filled him. How easy it would be just to lash out....to attack them. He almost did, his cloven talons digging into the wooden podium. He closed his eyes, frustration filling him. His shoulders began to shake, he put his head down.

"You are a disgrace for your religon and God!" Kain roared, as he threw back his head and ripped the podume apart. He ran forward straight towards them, and slwoly his legs and body began to change into mist.

His strides where long and powerful, his cloven feet pushing the ground hard, leaving marks upon the floor. Kain knew they would fire....it might kill him. But he was so angry at them, he just wanted to get out of here...to get away from these bastards.
13-11-2003, 21:51
James ran through the doorway as Kain began to mist...Damnit! Now he couldn't carry him out of there. He clicked the stopwatch, and the whole area froze, colours shifting into monochrome. Only himself and Kain were still in colour, the only one's able to move.

"Go Kain!" James shouted, as he sprinted towards the inquisitor before the effects wore off. He grabbed the pistol, and jerked it out of his hand, just as the world shifted once more...

(OOC: The 'stopwatch' is an item from castlevania (the game James' family is based on. It causes all enemies in the area to freeze for five seconds. Kain can still move because James doesn't consider him an 'enemy'. You don't see the room freeze, you will just see the everything as it was when the stopwatch runs out, if that makes sense.)

Stuart sat and watched in awe as the vampire leapt towards a crowd of vampire hunters in a vampire hunting society... actually, Stuart was amazed the creature even bothered, the people in here either religiously objected to vampires or (like Stuart) scientifically objected to vampires.

Eitherway, Stuart ducked for cover under his seat, he didn't have a gun, stake sword or otherwise, but he did know that the others will open fire and they may not always be accurate.

This incident only served to prove the hunters right... the vampires are dangerous. But Stuart already knew that... his company had opened his eyes to the underworld where vampires and werewolves lived, terrorising the human populace.

Stuart also found it funny that the creature, who was condemned by the hunter's religions, was claiming they were in fact disgracing their religion for ridding the world of something their religions hate... doesn't matter... Stuart thought. It will all be over in a couple seconds and we'll have a fresh example of why we are fighting.

(OOC Sorry, Forum has been a trifle uncooperative...)

Javier blinked.
His fingers stretched out before him were now black, obsidian glass webbed with arterial veins of smoke. Fog swirled through the air and the cold bit into his transformed flesh, vipers lashing out at him.

Something had happened within the physical world, something that had instantly thrust him out and into the crystal ring.
Passing an eye over the shadows of the real world reflected around him; he found activity blazing like a beacon within a hall not far from where he stood. Closer here, within the crystal ring than had he remained fixed within the material.

He drifted closer, here within the ring he flew, wings of black velvet rippling out from his back.
Passed through walls that were nothing but tracings on the air here and stepped into the material, flesh wrapped around him once more.
He kept close to the walls, his appearance unwitnessed.

In the Hall, chaos reigned. He glimpsed the strange foxgirl with whom he had been conversing and wondered if she'd noticed his sudden disappearance. He considered the tableau before him, men shining crimson in their wrath.
But he made no move to enter the fray.

(OOC: Celeborne, I know you said no teleporting; is it semantics to argue that moving through the 'Crystal Ring' is not quite 'teleportation'? If this displeases, I'd be happy to make a rewrite on it.)

"It's in the briefcase."

"Ahhhh," Markson nodded as someone shouted "Go Kain!" and people stopped.

"What is this?? A game of 'Red Light/Green Light'?" Markson asked as he stood up and popped his neck.

Markson and Stevens looked at Kain and each held up a pistol. "Silver holy bullets," Markson said.

Roth spun, near dramaticaly, out of his seat, and pulled the two pistols, designed to be ultra acurate. He raised both of them to eye level, looking down the reflex sight of each, and squeezed. Several times. Each pistol had a 20 round magazine of 10mm SilverTips. The rounds were made of silver, and therefore would have the same blosoming effect as a JHP, but also have that nasty little effect on the vampire. All 20 screamed towards Kain's head and back.

Lennox felt quesy as the room "skipped", almost like a bad frame in a movie. Extra-temporal device! "Go Kain!" someone bellowed. I know who's side it's on, then.

He toggled his comm. "Riggs, stop him." As he spoke, he reached into his vest, removing an MP5k. He opened up on full auto, touching the trigger to spurt bullets in a more controlled pattern.

Riggs, beside the door that Kane was running for, dived to dodge the volley of gunfire that was slowly angling towards him. As the mist/vampire approached, a medium sized contraption emerged from the suitcase, a series of pressurized tubes and cylinders, with a fuel cell strapped beneath. He released a stream of liquid fire from the flamethrower. "Burn, baby!" he cried as the flames rushed forth. "I shall cleanse you with the purifying flame!" he declared half jokingly, laughing as he washed the fire across the mist. Not checking to see if he did any damage, he dived away as the cell pinged empty, ducking back behind cover to avoid the continuing fire and any burning, angry vampire who might cut down anything in his path.

In the lobby, the third squad member waited on the stairs, a rilfe perched through a wedge, hidden and tracking the door.

God damnit. Why do they insist on violence?

James grabbed the pouch from his room and ripped the top of, spilling the contents in a wide arc. Small multicoloured stones flew in every direction, rebounding from walls and floors without ever seeming to slow down. They weren't particularly powerful, but were a good distraction, and excellent for messing somebody's aim up. As he continued to spin, he grabbed for the 'Vampire Killer' whip. It danced around him, merely an extension of his body, and he began striking at the hands of the hunters firing weaponry. He did not want to see anybody killed here today.
14-11-2003, 18:41
Kain sprinted forward, his long strides propelling his further. He barged past some of the people, thier faces looking suprised as this being was slwoly turning into mist.

Kain almost thought for a second he might get away unscathed. He was wrong.

A shower of silver bullets erupted from the nozzle of the MP5s, thier silver barrage hurtling towards Kain, they seemed like bright rays of light spinning. All around him, Kain saw things shatter and splinter as the bullets ripped around him.

Then an extruciating pain, a pain which he had never felt in his mortal or immortal life. The silver went into his lower leg, Kain almost fell over. the bullet burned it seemed, Kain bellowed in agony as he felt the bullet imbededded in his flesh. Two more silver bullets flew into him, one in his shoulder, on his his mid torso.

These two bullets ripped straight through him, a shower of blood erupting like a volcano, a great crimson spray exploding from the wounds. Kain raored even louder as he began to fall over from the pain. But he became mist totally now and billowed out of the door. Just before Kain could escape, Kain felt roaring flames against him, thier hot toungues raking and ravaging his mist form. It did little, but Kain still felt pain. If he was in physical form, this attack would have done far more.

Kain escaped out of the door and drifted away, his mind screaming to escape, his body even in this form showed signs of pain. The mist flagged at points, accasionally Kain stuggled to keep this form intact, sometimes during his escape a small puddle of blood would stream down from his wounds.

Kain headed towards the sea...towards the beach.

OOC: Sounds like Whiptail when the bloodlust hits. You think an Inquisitor is a fanatic, shoot him a few times and see what happens. He might not kill all of ya, but the one's he hits won't get up. Why are you at a vamp hunting conference in full battle armor anyway? Why shoot at your allies? That, and you're letting Kain escape by fighting amongst yourselves. Parlay might not be a bad idea at this point, before your damage bill exceeds the Inquisition's coffers.

Winter remained crouched behind the row of seats, where she'd ducked once the firing had begun. She had now slowly, and with utter silence, worked her way almost to one of the aisles, remaining out of sight.

The captain sighed. "Ease up, Brethren! The creature is almost apprehended."

He turns to the crowd and raises his hands. "Let the Lord bless the assembled hunters here, for you do his work." He chanted the Lord's prayer, and then turned to Bartholomew. "Brother Bartholomew, please begin the chant of purification."

The armored figure nods, and moves forward. "Yea, though I walk in the shadow of the valley of the dead, I shall know no fear. The lord is my shepherd, I shall have no want..." Until it was finished. A calm aura settled over the room. "Brethren, Sistren, allies in our holy cause, I have well news. The vampire, #57, Kain Irenicus, will soon be in our custody, and going to Roania to face trial."

(OOC Whiptail I feel would not be able to take on all four of these people in this situation. To be able to would be not a godmod, but think how Roania would feel when some of the best fighters are taken out by one person? I would say Whiptail would harm a lot of inquisitors, but he would take huge amounts of damage. Kain with the Brightblade would have been able to defend himself better, but he would have still run away.)

Kain drifted along to the beach, his entire body straining for energy. He was all alone, he heard the crashing of the waves against the shore. Kain tumbled and fell over, his form becoming his old self once again. He rolled onto the floor, out of fatigue and pain.

He lied on the floor, recovering. His breathing was harsh, he felt blood rising in his throat. He slwoly got up, his face within the sand. He looked at where his head had been, and saw a large faceprint of his own blood. Cloak was a crimson red, covered with Kain's own blood, it dripped off it.

Kain forced himself up, his arms shaking from the effort. He started to run, but felt a surge of pain at every step. It slowed him down severly....He could barely move.

He heard the inquisiotrs so close behind him, thier feet running against the sand, the crunching noise of many people. Kain began to lose hope, he desperately summoned up his will to change into fog again.

But it was to no avail. He simply tried to jog pathetically, as his bleeding form had a long and dark red trail of blood.

"You, have just added resisting arrest to your crimes, Kain." A female Inquisitor said, out of breath. Around her, the others stood to attention. "Are you going to give yourself up?"

They drew their blades, "Or are we going to have to take steps?"
15-11-2003, 09:36
Kain turned around, his body swaying. He was angry at himself for allowing this to happen. Why had he come here? Yet Kain knew the answer immediately. It was because this was worth so much.

Kain drew his own long sword, it was silver. Kain held it within both cloven talons to try and steady to blade. Kain spat a great glob of blood as it came up his throat slowly.

So this is how it ends then? There was so much I wanted to do still....so many people who I still owe so much which that debt will never be repaid.

"Come and get me!" Kain bellowed hoarsely as he held the silver blade up in front of him, his large crimson Cloak billowing behind him in the wind, his own blood dripping off him. He was trying desperately to summon magic up...but his strength failed him....

Kain was covered with his own blood, his wounds where healing extremely slowly...those bullet holes where not sealing up however due to the silver.

If I am to die, let me die in combat, and not be some prisoner to these bastards, Kain prayed silently to whatever God was listening.

But God had another plan in mind.....

15-11-2003, 09:59
Kain heard nothing...he began to fall into the sand, his wounds too much. He had simply grown far too tierd...

His form collapsed into the sand, the waves accasionally lapping over his spread out Cloak. It was not however getting wet, it was totally dry.

Kain was bleeding from multiple places. He had two bullets within him, and his was slightly burnt upon a leg. He had no armour, he rarely weared it. And his armour was old and in a state of disrepair, he made himself, and Kain was no armourer.

Kain lied upon the sand unconcious. The inquisitors could see the large exit wounds of two of the bullets, the other two where still lodged within him. The exit wounds where one on his shoulder, and one near his leg. The other two shots had gone into his midsection. He had a bleeding head from somewhere...most likely when he fell over, or perhaps during his escape something smashed.

All Kain heard was the lapping of the water, and the crashing of the waves as he slipped into subconciousness.

“You must get tired of answering that question,” Javier stepped away from the wall, standing in their path. “Perhaps she’s here, because of that exotic vampire allure?” He raised his eyebrows sardonically, smiled. “Vampires are stronger, smarter and for the most part, there’s that otherworldly beauty on their side.”
Considering Kain, he added, “Of course that last one isn’t always strictly a rule.”

Lennox replied without missing a beat. "But many, I am tempted to say all, are consumed by their power and seek only to destroy. Before the Kain, I have never met one who would even claim to have turned his or her back on the Darkness." He shrugged. "I'm not strictly a Hunter, like most at this gathering. Yes, I've foughten many, killed many, but only in defense. And I've never seen a Vamp, before today, that didn't attack."

He paused. "How could this be alluring? This carnage and decay? You claim a higher intelligence, a greater strength... this is a lie. They are merely more attuned to the dark cunning in their natures, and I've seen men just as sly, but no where as twisted by it. And strength is a relative term that goes beyond what nature can provide..."

You're right, though; vampires are not necessarily any more intelligent than unaltered members of their baseline species. Those of the 'undead' variety may be more knowledgeable, having had more years to acquire that knowledge, but even so there are limits to memory."

Lennox nodded. "We are still in danger. There are two known unknowns at the moment: someone used a temporal device to aid Kain's escape. That is what prompted my actions, not his escape. Someone is messing with the fabric of time, and that is not done without an extreme motive. I did not wish to destroy Kain, but to stop and question him. These pitiful weapons", he motioned to his MP5k, "could not drop a being such as him instantly. We would have interogated him, healed him, and if innocent, released him. Those fanatics will probably just kill him."

He paused. "The other known unknown worries me even more. Something was in that hall, controlling events. There were two seperate incidents where mass psyonic energy was exchanged. The first was towards the Roanians, the other was directed outward. After the second event, I felt something near me, hunting me. This conference is not safe, and I intend I finding what is hunting the hunters."

"Is it worth worrying about?" Winter asked tranquilly. "There are some hunters who deserve to be hunted."

Javier laughed, "Oh I like the way you think."
He turned to Lennox, considered the man a moment.
"As for why death could be so alluring my friend, it would all be wrapped up in mortality. Both are so entangled in each other, it'd be hard to imagine the one without the other. Humans face death every day, you can hardly be surprised that so many of them get a kick out of it? Even on a subconscious level, goading death, courting it if you will, is something that can be..." Javier smiled coldly, "scientifically verified."

Blink.
He was no longer beside them, but behind Lennox.
No teleportation, no moving through the crystal ring; simply the preternatural speed of something other than human.

"It's supernatural and thus humanity feels free to engage in an unjust war," he whispered leaning close. "Do you advocate the hunting of the Japanese? Would you kill the Eskimo? They indiscriminately murder sentient creatures for food, for vanity...dolphins, whales. Why begrudge the vampire a necessity?"

Fangs pierced flesh, just the barest taste and -
Blink.
Javier was beside Winter, eyes like green flame fixed on Lennox. "There are those among us who say that vampires are part of the divine plan; that as he kills indescriminately so should we. In the crystal ring, that realm through which vampires of my ilk are able to shift and move, the higher one flies; the greater the cold that bites." He glanced at the wound on Lennox's neck. "It is cold is it not? That chill they say is the mind of God; so coldly logically that it burns lesser creatures who dare bathe in it. Consider it my gift to you...a taste of what lies beyond mortality."

Lennox's skin sealed over before the fangs were even clear, as the man dropped to the ground, the stain being purged from his body with the powers of nanotechnology, but mostly of something more, something beyond the comprehension of science, a complete dedication to all that was good and all that he had ever fought for. "I would rather die..." Lennox fell, the chill scourging his systems.

Stand, soldier! The voice commanded, the voice heard by all in the Corps, the Commandant.

"I can't..."

Rise! Lennox was dragged to his feet again and not of his own power, but as a puppet on strings, or a toy being lifted, his eyes opened. Behind those eyes, Lennox was hidden, his pupils burned bright. He spoke, not as himself, but as something greater, a mind behind a mind, a chorus of one voice. "Do not harm this little one further, or I shall rend you asunder."

Lennox fell back, into the sand, unconcious, maybe dead, and a slight bubble appeared over him.

In the city proper, Riggs jumped to his feet from a hard sleep. "Jesus! Sarge has made Shadow break! We gotta go, now!"

Javier frowned, considered the curious transition to have overcome the man.
“Harm him?” He raised his eyebrows in surprise. “You could do worse if you nicked yourself shaving.”
It was obvious to anyone who cared to read Javier’s expression; Lennox had just been promoted from mildly interesting to extremely fascinating.
Not the sort of interest one might want to cultivate.

Tentatively Javier circled Lennox, glimpsed the diamond-hard presence reaching through the man; weighed it against the brilliance that burned, cold and eternal, within him.
Of the two, that which dwelled now in Lennox eyes seemed the more inhuman.

Stepping to Winter’s side, Javier turned to her with a small smile on his lips.
“It scarcely seems fair, doesn’t it. Here I thought he was merely mortal, only to find he’s dabbling in the supernatural himself.”
He glanced towards Lennox as though expecting to hear an argument.
“You’re a trifle short of natural my friend. But at least I’m fully in charge of myself,” he murmured sensing the life forces shimmering through the man’s physical form, tempted to drain them away.
It would leave Lennox seemingly untouched, pale but otherwise healthy and yet, within days or a week, without life force to animate the flesh; he would die. Javier could feed this way, the victim none the wiser but for a sudden, passing chill.

In the moment of choice, he decided against it.
He so rarely played with anything that would become a meal. Now was hardly the time to start.

(OOC: Just to make it clear, Javier didn’t try turning Lennox. He took ‘a little sip’ to show his teeth, so to say… He’d need two other vampires to ‘make’ another – it’s part of the vampiric ‘system’ used in Freda Warrington’s brilliant vampire novels. These vampires have the ability to feed on the life force of a person as well as their blood.)

IC: Corporal Riggs clipped his helmet onto his head and closed the breath mask. "Okay, squad, let's get this bitch. Load 'em up, full bore. We gotta get to Sarge."

PFC Alvarez looked over as he clipped the reactor into the Gauss Rifle. "Corporal, are you sure this is wise? If we fire this shit off, we could contaminate the culture-"

Riggs laughed. "Have you seen what the Roanian delegation did? Brought power armor and a drop ship. We're not going to do any damage. 'sides, we're dealing with Shadow here. Me, I'll go by my training and give my enemies every piece of firepower I can get my hands on!" He loaded the Fusion Coil, cocked the large, ugly rifle. "Let's kick some ass."

The Squad headed for the beach in full battle gear, ready to blast anything not human.

“Remarkable, wisdom and insight,” Javier murmured, smiling at Winter; fangs revealed, for unlike some of his kind, these did not retract. “But then, when would a conference on the supernatural attract anything other than the nuts and that quirky fringe element.” He leaned forward, whispering the last as though divulging a secret meant only for her ears. “Feel free to categorise me.”
For a moment he was looking directly into her eyes; searching for trace of any overwhelming emotion. The velveteen-grey of his cardigan, silvered in the shadow and light as he stepped back.

When he spoke again, his voice came melodic, unperturbed, rich round notes that vibrated through the air.
“You might want to make your hasty retreat. I think we’re in for more nuts and fanatics and things may well become rather…unsettling here in a few moments.” He glanced around the lobby, noting the various exit and entrance points. Turning back to Winter he added, “Unless you’d like to reveal your cards? I’m wondering what they are.”

Blink

And he was behind her, fingers reaching through her hair to reveal the tender flesh, her throat. “Or if in fact you have any at all.”

Blink

Standing beside her once more as though there he’d always been. Closed his eyes, let her presence flicker through other senses.
“You have a choice, a path to follow. Stand and fight, I’m sure you’ve teeth and claws enough; or leave.”

Sighing, he glanced at Lennox, still entranced; possessed, as it seemed through vampiric eyes.
“They molly coddle soldiers these days, don’t you agree? A little scratch and he’s practically comatose.”

In hotel room some distance away…

Having hacked into the surveillance cameras, Sauk was easily able to keep track of the guest going by the moniker, Javier Reyes.
The room was dark, but for the glare of the laptop screen that made his skin seem even paler than it was.

“This looks like it may lead somewhere,” Sauk said to his companion, tapping the glass of the screen with a fingernail.
Siraniel leaned over his shoulder, crimsoned curls falling against his cheek; slashes of blood. Her perfume, intoxicating; shades of cinnamon and fire.

“I think we’d better be prepared,” she said. Her voice a musical instrument. Golden eyes turned to Sauk, blazed with vampiric intensity.
He was first to look away.
Reflected in the shadows on the screen, Siraniel was flame against his Nordic ice.

“Do we inform Chrichael?”

“No,” she drew back. “Not just yet.”

OOC: I thought we were out of the lobby? I assumed we had made it to the coast. Hmm... clarifications before continuing...

A man arrives at the vampire summit. He is 6'5" and wears a cloak that covers him almost completely from head to toe. His face is not visible, and his hands are gloved.

He says in a calm but eerie voice:

"Hello, my name is Lord Legnerihes Mantresni. I have come to gain information about the beings you call vampires, and the ones who wish to destroy them."

A man sitting at the front desk will inform him that the price is $500, and that he is welcome to join the summit.

Riggs rounded the corner, waved. The first squad moved out. A street away, linked through the Neural Net, the second advanced in tandem. They closed on Lennox's last position not as a group, but as one entity. As they approached, they saw two figures standing over the unconcious Sargeant. Alvarez, the medic, commented, "He's alive, but he's under Shadow purge... he'll be safe under that dome from just about anything we can throw around. What would trigger that but Shadow?"

Riggs narrowed his eyes. "Vamps. Squad, ready weapons." He raised his Fusion Rifle cautiously, not yet pointed at the two, but ready for anything. "They ain't human." he declared aloud, his sensors confirming what his senses detected. The woman had fox ears and a tail. What the hell? Classified unknown threat. The man was definately clicking off the charts as a Vamp. Priority threat. Riggs released the safety, the Fusion Coil powered with an evil throbbing hum. "Declare your alliegance!" he demanded of the foxwoman and vampire.

Squad, don't fire yet. We don't know what happened here. They could be neutral. Hardly friendly, the Vampire, but neutrality is possible. Stay alert. You all know what to do.

Seeing the Vamp tense subtly, Riggs raised his Fusion Rifle a notch. "Don't move until we've settled this. Don't think your abilities can outmatch the powers of science."
