Election Time In Wazzu (LONG, pic links)

Wazzu
02-11-2003, 03:37
It is election time in Wazzu for that one office that has almost always been an elected position, that of Chief Executive Board Member, the political leader. As always before, there is no shortage of people who want the job, and as always before, the majority of them are quite young. But it is Wazzu tradition to start the office young and end old, a tradition this only fourth executive (in over 300 years!) is likely to continue. On the other hand, this is the FIRST time I am opening up the voting process to the NationStates public...OOCly of course.

There are two ways to help your favored candidate wins.
1: Post the name of (vote for) your favorite candidate (too many for a poll).
2: RP a Charicter in Wazzu. It could be anyone (naturalized immigrant, born into wealth, even communist) of any race (human, elf, even (likely secretly) vampire), in any Wazzu associated nation (Wazzu, New Nasustiro, Wazzu Asgard, Wazzu Elysium, or Wazzu Cytherea). Don't worry about making stuff up, we can ignore anything that doesn't fit with Wazzu, and I might accept stuff you make up that does. The better more origional the role-play (family, co-workers, political organization, ANYTHING!), the more it counts.

Really, what I am hoping is to give everyone a chance to RP as best as they can, make the best and most origional short story possible. Those writings count most, votes count second (but still count).

And again, don't worry about defining Wazzu. If you don't know, post it anyway! I might make it part of the nation.

So without more to do, here are the candidates!

Frontrunners:

TransCorp: Lee Chin (http://members.cox.net/sincityraiders/images/chinlip.jpg)
-Hailing from Wazzu aerospace giant TransCorp, Lee Chin was born into wealth, not that she ever thought it special. Chin loves to throw money around while "ruffing it" with the working class.
-Age- 17 (she finished schooling and draft very early), much younger then she appears.
-Platform- Increased world engagement, more aggressive sales.
-Personality- A sex icon, seen as openly manipulative and selfish, though selfish for her corporation and now her nation. Deceptively intelligent. Liked (Lusted) by younger voters.
-Arguements- "Wazzu corporations have always suffered from keeping to themselves. We need a common storefornt! We need more trade deals! We need aggressive advertising! We need to promote forign consumerism of Wazzu products!"

Northern Gun: Hans McKillip (http://members.cox.net/sincityraiders/images/HansMcKillip.jpg)
-Northern Gun is a non-profit corporation created by Wazzu corporations to develop weapons for their defense. While McKillip technically has nothing to do with the corporation, he is using its semi-government nature to propell his political career. A career special operations military member himself, he has no other corporation to attach to.
-Age- 51, expected to live well into his 400s unassisted medically (gen-baby)...by far the most physically mature and experianced running.
-Platform- Forign travel requirement in education, increased world engagement on government level, utilize more unconventional/creative means to achieve national goals.
-Personality- Forward, direct, honest. Believes in self disipline and learning through experiance. Loved by members of the military and those who have been crossed by a scumbag once too often.
-Arguement- "Wazzu has become a powerful nation, and we are lucky to have seen so little hostile forign attention. The only way we can keep our peace is to work at greater understanding of the rest of the world. Not only will this better our economy, but it will help us be good and innovative people."

Those trying to catch up:

Elegant Solutions: Shaha Yulich (http://members.cox.net/sincityraiders/images/JungPyoLee(Shaha).jpg)
-From constantly struggling IT and communications company Elegant Solutions, Shaha can trace her family lines to pretty much every culture on Earth, and she has taken it to heart in making her own. A self-described post-new ager, she diversifies everything from her outfit to her personality.
-Age- 22, third most physically (and mentally?) mature people running.
-Platform- Increase Wazzu corporate ties, create permanant co-ops.
-Personality- Multi-cultured. Believes the best solution is the one that involves integrating the basics of a lot of areas rather then specializing in any one. Believes everyone is basically the same. Seen as too friendly by most. Immigrants make up her target voting block.
-Arguement- "Wazzuians are everyone! We started with people from around the world and take in more every day. We are best off working together in a general way then limiting ourselves to a specific field."

Hermes Spacelines: David Wells (http://members.cox.net/sincityraiders/images/Face(ChoiJungMoon).jpg)
-Wells is a middle-class computer geek still living in his parents apartment, but not with his parents who are typically millions of miles away on Hermes ships.
-Age- 20
-Platform- Move to space based government.
-Personality- Very progressive, nation wise. Believes Wazzu isn't a nation with off Earth colonies, but a nation of the solar system. Believes in increased trade on the interplanetary rather then interregional level. Seen as intelligent but a bit "off in space." Poor support in Wazzu and New Nasustiro, but much support in Wazzu's (often large) colonies.
-Arguement- "We were once an Earthbound nation, but now we are a solar system power. We would do best to trade with other nations of our strength."

Lifeworks: Bel Thorne (http://members.cox.net/sincityraiders/images/MansFace(KimChungHa)-BelThorne.jpg)
-Lifeworks is a company that has long tampered with biochemistry and genetics, and Bel Thorne is the natural result of that. Born upper-middle class, Bel is both a hermaphadite and the child of a "gen-baby", supposedly giving it "superior" genes.
-Age- 21
-Platform- Reinstitute legal and open genetic manipulation (on own property), equality of rights.
-Personality- Believes people should do what they like with their own bodies including decide on the nature of their children. Seen as odd but welcomed by some of the working and much of the middle classes as someone who'll make sure they keep their rights.
-Arguement- "Our bodies, our children, our choice!"

South Northmen News: Commodus (http://members.cox.net/sincityraiders/images/commodus.jpg)
-SNN was the first corporation created in Wazzu and has always been Wazzu's number one news source, by far. As son of SNN's CEO, all that information power has gone straight to Commodus' head.
-Age- 29, third oldest and second most physically mature individual running.
-Platform- Tighter information and other government controlls, security, public healthcare.
-Personality- Controlling, believes he knows best for everyone. Loved by micro-managers everywhere (without regard to class).
-Arguement- "Wazzu was once a tiny nation in the world. Now, we are a multi-planet empire! It is time to start acting our age and expanding our power base. No nation in history is remembered as second best!"

Oren Moore: Gup Kyun (http://members.cox.net/sincityraiders/images/kyungup4.jpg) [[Long load]]
-Oren Moore is the true, silent strength behind Wazzu, it is Wazzu's leader in materials research. Gup Kyun is one of those researchers.
-Age- 26
-Platform- Channel more government funding into research (from other areas).
-Personality- Withdrawn, very technical oriented. Believes in helping people help themselves and forgetting everyone else. Popular with the middle and upper class academics and R&D teams.
-Arguement- "Personal achievement is what moves us forward, and we need to reward that."

Edu-Nation: Kimberly Star (http://members.cox.net/sincityraiders/images/Eun-kyongPark(Kimberly%20Lee).jpg)
-Edu-Nation is another of those non-profit Wazzu companies, made by the corporations and government of Wazzu to ensure a highly skilled work pool. Kimberly Star is very much a rising star in this semi-corporate agency.
-Age- 19, also (in and) out of military service early.
-Platform- Increase education funding (from other areas), encourage small buisnesses.
-Personality- Young, naive, idealistic, and too damn friendly. But loved by many working class parents for her strong stance on public education. Disliked by those who's jobs may be at risk tomorrow from todays youth.
-Arguement- "Our children really are our future. If they are well educated, we will be more successfull."

Public Industries Corporation: Johnathan Maybourne (http://members.cox.net/sincityraiders/images/ManFace(YounJaeMin).jpg)
-Public Industries Co. is the standard setter for power, water, sewage, transportation, communication, power, and other technical fields in Wazzu. It is a third bureaucracy organized along corporate lines, but is by no means non-profit. Maybourne found this the perfect place for his life after moving from a semi-socialist European nation.
-Age- 24
-Platform- Increase ties to and trading with Europe.
-Personality- Direct, determined, and a little snide. Welcomed due to cruel wit as a true Wazzuian despite forign upbringing. Liked mostly by immigrants and those who have trading ties with Europe. NOT popular with colonists.
-Arguement- "Why trade elsewhere when we have trading partners so close? To go elsewhere in the world or even to other planets is to invite hostile disaster. Europe is more then a large enough market."

Ministry of Stability: Gnox (http://members.cox.net/sincityraiders/images/Stephen(Gnox).jpg)
-The ministry of stability is primarially concerned with keeping Northern Europe calm and trade routes open...at least on the surface. There seems to be much more bureaucracy then it needs, or perhaps it is just inefficient. Gnox, an elf of the "Northern" varient with communities in the Dendarii Mountains, found this to be his only chance of seeing his views made real in Wazzu.
-Age- 294, the oldest and least physically mature opting for office.
-Platform- Environmentalism, develop ties to non-human governments.
-Personality- A bit mysterious, often considered somewhat dark. Conspiricy nuts and humanists worry he may put Wazzu under CENNA, others dismiss this. Enjoys some popularity with working classes who feel constantly depressed do to living conditions.
-Arguement- "How can we live in this pollution filled nightmare? For us to live healthier, we need to make room for life around us."
