Construction firm sponsors cathedral renovations

02-11-2003, 01:45
Starscraper Builders has decided to renovate St. Anthony's cathedral in Poppernickle, Maniaca. The Catholic church is the largest in the area, and the firm plans on making it larger. The 2 storied 612 foot tall main interior with a masive organ is able to contain about 90,000 churchgoers in and around the city of Poppernickle. The area for priests, nuns, choir members and such is above the main area, 126 feet tall. The steeple and belltower currently is 203 feet tall, but the construction firm plans on adding about an extra 100 feet, to increase the majesty of the building and to increase the volume of the bell when it is rung. The church is currently 941 feet tall, with the extension making it 1,038 feet tall, the second tallest building in Poppernickle, the fifth in Maniaca. The steeple will be topped with a large cross. Some citizens are outraged, saying the church was too big to begin with, and that it seems to be imposing the catholic faith on them. The Emperor says he does not want to stop this renovation, and even if he did, he is powerless to do so, as it's an independent firm, and they have as much freedom of religion as those who are outraged do. This ambitious project will likely take about a year to complete, while it's not much to build, the high altitude will complicate some matters, and the firm does not want to rush the project.
