I'm looking for somebody to pit one of their (space) battlecruisers against one of mine in a wargame. Any takers? The last time I tried this another RP interfered, but I still want to do it.

Dreadnaught class (heavy multiple purpose tactical vessel):
The Dreadnaught class is designed primarily for ship-to-ship combat, which it excells at to a massive degree. It also houses a midsize ion/plasma cannon. Despite it's large size, the Dreadnaught is still highly maneuverable. Nearly every inch of this monster has some type of weapon attached to it, and it is protected by double shields and armor. The Dreadnaught's ion/plasma cannon is not as powerful as some, but it is capable of penetrating most targets in only one or two hits. Able to face off small fleets with only minor support, the Dreadnaught class is a match for almost any starship or base, and can even do considerable damage to a capital ship.

IAS-184 moves into position, awaiting the arrival of it's wargame companion. It's weapons and shields are down.

Several ZIGs armed with only news cameras move onto the battlefeilds, capturing every move of the massive ships to be broadcast back home as a special treat on Resian TV.

Admiral Hawkings pressed the switch button. The RSD switched to Wargame mode. "Well, may the best man win." He said to his opposing number, before closing communications.

"Do you really mean that, sir?" Lieutenant Jones asked.

"Nah. I'm going to win, if I have to cheat to do so."
Xanthal
02-11-2003, 02:24
IAS-184 raises it's shields. It (the ship's AI) powers it's energy weapons to wargame levels, and ensures that it has loaded only dummy warheads. The ship's captain orders a single real torpedo fired. The projectile streams through space and detonates between the combatants, signalling the start of the match. The Dreadnaught's slipfighters are deployed and take defensive positions around IAS-184 as the Dreadnaught fires it's first torpedo and energy weapon salvo.
Roania
02-11-2003, 02:26
The shields rattle. "Damn. Return fire!"

Several dozen of the RSD's compliment of Enforcers fly out and engage the enemy drones. A salvo of turbolasers shoots towards the Dreadnaught.

"Ready the Tractor beam, get it into position!"
Xanthal
02-11-2003, 02:33
The OPS officer monitors her console. "The enemy is powering a holding beam Sir."
The captain nods. "Keep the shields on a modulating phase, they won't be able to hold us as long as we keep rotating them."
The slipfighter commander calls out. "Slip pilots report they have engaged the enemy."
"Okay, tell them to break defensive formation and go after the enemy fighters."

The Dreadnaught's shields begin rotating their modulation, making holding beams ineffective. The slipfighters break their formation around IAS-184 and engage the enemy fighters with gusto, firing harmless low-powered lasers to simulate their Multiphasic Disrupters.
Roania
02-11-2003, 02:36
"Sir! They are circling!"

"I know... I know... Get missile launches on the line. Let's see if we can aid our boys."

The Enforcers slow down as the three man crew of each sends out the drones. Dozens of miniature maneuverable explosives take off from the underside of each and home in on the Slips.

1 Enforcer is knocked off line.
Xanthal
02-11-2003, 02:41
The maneuverable slipfighters dodge them all, but the explosive radius of the charges knocks out shielding on nine and "destroys" two. The two destroyed fighters move to the sidelines. The Dreadnaught fires it's shield-draining ion cannon at the Star Destroyer as the slipfighters continue firing their energy weapons at the enforcers.
Roania
02-11-2003, 02:44
"Sir! Ion beam!"

"Excellent. Get full electronic interference modules on line immediately. And fire that Superlaser!"

A massive burst of power and the powereddown superlaser blasts into the battle. At the very last moment each Enforcer shoots out of the way.

"Scramble all fighters! Target the Ion cannon!"
Xanthal
02-11-2003, 02:50
The slipfighters scatter, avoiding the blast. The Dreadnaught activates it's Farad system, which takes the force of the laser in place of the ship's shields. The Dreadnaught accellerates and passes over the Star Destroyer, firing it's fore, ventral, and aft weapons at the ship in turn as it passes and opening up with it's aft rail gun once it's by (this hurts, it's a lot of weapons fire). The slipfighters take advantage of the enforcers' retreat and fall in behind them, opening up with their energy weapons and releasing their high-powered torpedos.
Roania
02-11-2003, 02:55
The RSD shakes. "Sir! Our shields are fading! We're down to half!" As the Dreadnaught passes over, dozens of Turbolasers and Ion batteries open fire.

"Are we? Tell me. How many fighters are out there."

"70, sir."

"Send the rest out, there's a good chap."

The remaining 130 Enforcers shoot out from the hangars and pursue the Xanthalian ship.

In the battle, 5 Enforcers are rendered disabled. They retreat to the sidelines.

The Lieutenant pauses. "Try to get them under us, sir!"
The remaining release more drones and turn around, opening fire.
Xanthal
02-11-2003, 03:02
The Farad system lasts just long enough to absorb the return fire before deactivating and recharging. The Dreadnaught begins to take shield damage as the last of the retaliatory fire is deflected. It turns on it's side and fires it's starboard and dorsal energy weapons at the incoming Enforcers (this will take out at least a few dozen of the enforcers, but leave the Dreadnaught momentarily wide open to retaliation). The slipfighters continue their assault on the enforcers while dodging fire. Six more are "destroyed" and retreat to the sidelines.
Roania
02-11-2003, 03:06
36 of the onrushing enforcers are disabled.

However, the RSD had maneuvered to just over the Dreadnaught. "Activate planetary bombardment weapons!"

Massive shells of lead and energy slam downwards along the mile long bulk of the RSD. "HA HA! Even powered down, those shells should win us this!"

"Sir, the Xanthalians won't get harmed, will they?"

"I doubt it. These shells are hollow instead of our usual explosives."
Xanthal
02-11-2003, 06:57
The captain watches the shells heading toward his ship. "Damn. Time for defensive fighting. Phase the ship." The Xanthalian Dreadnaught fades from dimensional existence and the shells pass by the ship and keep going with nothing to hit. "Transdimensional torpedos. Fire!" Five torpedos shoot from the phased Dreadnaught and towards the Star Destroyer (OOC: You need to tell me if your shields can deflect torpedoes that are out of dimensional phase). The slipfighters break off their individual pursuits of the Enforcers and begin swarming them in groups of five (this will increase their kill rate).

02-11-2003, 07:13
One of the cloaked Crimmond border cutter nearby watches on. "Woah... a phase cloak." The captain says. "Damn, I want one of those instead of this power hog we have."

Ths ship observes, recording everything that is happening for the Intelligence Department.

Clearwater

The I.C.S. Despot a Resolute class battlecrusier sits outside the field of battle. Ovid in shape, it has no clear bridge. It's black paint job allows it to blend in with the background of space. Recently decomishioned from the main Imperial Clearwater Space Defence Force(ICSDF), it now works for the inteligence network in Clearwater. Commander Land speaks up. "Admiral, I think You shold know that besides the known combatints, there is on other warship here. It is cloacked, sir" Admiral Reed stands up and walks over to the consol. Her blond hair is longer than regulation, but then so is everyone else's. One of the bonoses to being in ICSDF, no burrecrats. "Why is everyone so hyped up on cloaking devices? We can see right through them. This paint job does about as well as a cloak, and is cheaper too." Admiral Reed has a laugh at this. She knows the value of a good cloaking system, but try telling that to the government. "A war in space will never happen." They said. "All wars will be fought on land, and on the sea." OF course that was what the Brittish had said in WWI and WWII, and look what that had got them. "Give me full scans on the cloaks of the Crommond, and Xanthal ships. As well as all ships and fighters in the area. While Your at it get the wepions as well." Commander land tells the brige crew. "Now, now commander." Admiral Reed speaks up. "I am sure they know their jobs. Keep Yourself busy seeing if anyone else is out there. Inteligence is going to love us for life for this information." With this Admiral Reed returns to the command chair, and the bridge returns to it's normal work.

OOC: Don't you know what Chaos shielding is?

IC: "Sir! We are picking something up..." The bridge rattled. "Fascinating. Random fire!" Turbolasers and missile batteries fired in all compass directions.

By the enforcers, several missiles picked off the enforcers. However, considering that there were 5 drones to each Enforcer...

The drones slid into the ranks between each slipfighter, and exploded. The enforcers opened fire on their own.

OOC: Clearwater... no, this is not just an invisibility cloak. It is an emissions cloak that is based on the Reman cloak from Nemesis. The ship is in surveilence and intelligence mode, the same as power conservation mode except a cloak is not used then. The engines are offline, the ship is drifting and the sensors are passive only. There is little or no energy to read through the cloak. Also, knowing that a cloaked warship is nearby does not tell you that it is one of mine. It could be any number of nations using the hull design I use. But... I'll allow you to pick that one out. The others I doubt anyone will see.
Xanthal
02-11-2003, 21:05
(It's not realistic to kill five enforcers unless you were aiming for them. Random fire is a lot of directions, and it's not like the fighters are right up against the ship. You might have hit three things total from both sides, probably mostly your own since your enforcers make much bigger targets. Oh well, I'll be generous). By pure bad luck, seven slipfighters are caught in the line of fire. five of them lose shields, the other two are sidelined.
When the drones come in, the slipfighters are too scattered after the random fire attack to be of much use. One more fighter is claimed.
(I take it that that means your shields can block them. Okay then.)
The Dreadnaught begins maneuvering into a position of Tactical advantage while still phased (Unless I'm greatly mistaken you can't see the ship when it's in it's phased cloak, correct me if I'm wrong. Even so though, you'll probably guess what it's trying to do).

OOC: My ships are the enforcers, and they intercepted your missile fire.

IC: The torpedoes, shorn of their transdimentality by the chaos shielding, impacted on the particle shield. The RSD shook.

Several more enforcers, having escaped through drones the missiles, took off and ignored the slipfighters, randomly firing at the last location of the Dreadnaught.

The Admiral swore. "Where is that ship?"
Xanthal
19-11-2003, 06:50
The captain of the Dreadnaught watches them and chuckles. "Look at them; I think they actually believe that they can hit us! Let's give the slipfighters a moment with them to divert their attention. Divert all weapons power to the forward arrays and prepare to fire the ionized plasma cannon as well. I want them to feel the pain on this one. It should all but destroy their shields, then we can pick off their hull weaponry and support our slipfighters while the main ship is busy getting it's defenses back online."

The slipfighter pilots have a field day chasing after the distracted Enforcers and firing at them from behind.
Roania
19-11-2003, 06:54
The enforcers made a quick, 180 turn. Several of the crew men collapsed from the strain, but... a bevy of missiles met the slipfighters.

Gritting his teeth, the Admiral decided to activate the superlaser, and take out the fighters, hoping to win on points. "Activation!"

It powered up, and a massive light beam shot forward.

*'Casualties': 85% of the Drones, %77 of the Enforcers, Shields of RSD down to 34%*
Xanthal
19-11-2003, 07:01
OOC: Ouch. Sacrificing your own ships to take out ours? Nasty.

IC: Almost every remaining unshielded slipfighter is sidelined; the shielded ones and the few lucky unshielded ones move out of range, scattered and disorganized. They begin forming up again. The Xanthalian Dreadnaught finally unphases, having maneuvered into position to face the section of the enemy ship with the weakest shields and fires it's full complement of forward-facing weapons at approaching overload power levels. It's powerful plasma/ion cannon fires as well. At such close range, the result is sure to be deadly.
Slipfighters remaining: 19
Roania
19-11-2003, 07:05
The surviving enforcers, around 10, and 20 Drones, turned and faced the slipfighters. They opened fire, but soon fell back.

The RSD then opened it's turbolaser batteries onto the slipfighters, after waiting for weapon systems to recharge.

<EDITED> The shields collapsed under the impact of the plasma blast, and the bridge rocked.
