[Yes, WBO / SATO conspiracy theorists go wild, etc etc. Actually, just didn't want to spam up the boards with two posts when one will do. These announcements actually originally came a couple of IC-months apart, anyway, but this is the public announcement of both]

It is my solemn duty to announce the resignation of the Federation from both the World Business Organisation and South Atlantic Treaty Organisation. We apoligise for this action, which has unfortunately become necessary due mainly to policy differences between our nation and our allies within these groups.

KNN financial:
... trade in the Weapons Manufacturers market on the Amsterdam stock exchange took a curious turn when GMC Military Arms announced it's resignation from the WBO. Even though analysts had suspected the move for some time the market took a small negative hit. Knootian stocks also fell 0,3% following the news, however shares of several noted Knootian arms manufactures rose as their position on the capitalist export market is expected to benefit in the longer term.

In other, related news government announced that it would increase defence spending again. The move was fiercely criticised by the pacifist movement and the KGP but state-secretary Galadriël Táralóm insisted that it was necessary in the light of rising international tensions. An SLP-RCPK-KEP majority backs the state-secretaries plans. The money –several billion Euro’s- will be used to deploy new advanced military systems and increasing military efficiency. Moving away from it’s traditional use of cheap foreign suppliers the government is going to buy ‘preferably’ from Knootian companies…
