Hey Dinks, here's my golden advice: right in this here forum, there's a sticky thread along the lines of "New to NationStates? Visit these great forums!" I was and still am a newbie, but it helped me out. Also, day-old countries really shouldn't go starting wars. Although my nation's war-geared, I still don't go kicking everyone's ass who I meet (partly because I never meet anybody :( ).

Theres a differance between buying military equipment, and declairing war. If you intend to be a warlike nation, it would be good to stock up a bit, so that you'll have it when and if a war becomes necisarry. But just becouse you have a good arsenal doesnt mean you should randomly attack people over little things.

edit: oh, and a sticky is a topic that has a special icon by it, showing that it wont fall beyond a certain point nomatter how old it is. There located near the top of the lists.

The forum is the same area where this post I'm typing to and you're talking in right now is! You know, that list of topics? Well, at the top there are topics with a special sticky sign (don't remember what they look like, but 'Sticky should read right next to it) and one of them should be the 'New to Nationstates' yadda-yadda thing.
And no, you don't have to wait a month to buy and/or build military equipment, but you should wait until a VERY good reason to use them (or start your own post about a terrorist attack or something and then telling how you counteract to it. I tried that but it didn't gather too much attention. Damn.)
