Day One:

MNN News Report: Bizarre UFO sightings

"Last evening a group of sea traders were out on the ocean, transporting some bulk cattle across the Northern Ocean. On the voyage, they witnessed bizarre sights somewhere between New ArAreBee and Phalanix, one of the largest areas of open ocean on Mars. Sonar reported strange things in the area, multiple readings on SONAR that seemed to pass through the ship, and this video tape.

---
Three lights danced in the sky. They never seperated, they never faltered. They mearly danced in the sky. They seemed to stay in one place, the camera moved around as the began to go under them, but they never did. They stayed in the same spot, just out of reach. Glowing, playing games with one another, flowing in and out one another. The tape ends as they fade out of sight.

---

"This area has recently been covered by system of storms, national governments have yet to respond."

Day 2:
The storm system began to flow into one another, the storms and squalls merging, the seas hwoling as the storm grew fiercer and fiercer. But yet, it never moved. They merely swirled and swirled, turning, growing larger and larger. It slowly began to seem like a hurricane, minus the eye. The massive system continued to gobble up the moisture and and the differing fronts as, almost like an amoeba, storms began to break off. The flowed east and west
, always staying by the sea. Lightning and cyclones, and winds rippled about as the storm heads reached for the void. They moved with unnatural quickness, to the many nations on the sea. Through Menelmacar, Bajon, through Pilon and Darksith. They broke off onto the main land, they moved to the lakes and rivers. They were protected, yes, no mere storm could damage their space age technology. But the phantom readings followed the storms, and the lights, now classified as a bizarre electrical distubance still danced.

And throughout this, the ground trembled. Small, barely noticable, possible due cave collapses, weapon testing, perhaps the relieving of pressure from past meteor strikes. Reportings of howls and rumblings on the surface were reported, but no evidence found. The winds or the storms washed them away.

Day 3 (OOC: This is new):

"This Diane Willers, another wave of reports have come in regarding the past night. The frequency of the bizarre incidents have increased and become much more...frank. Here are a few photos."

The picture shows a stormy sky and churning seas, the green water swallowing its' own waves as the wind churns the water. In the midst of this conflict lies some sort of....thing. The boat lights are sighted on it, and it appears out of proportion with the water. The size seems to be right next to the boat, but it appears on the distant horizon. It seems to be carrying something, in its' grotequely formed body, which seems...just wrong. And most disturbing of all is its' eyes, the eyes that glow a dead glow.

"Several more of these photos have surfaced, possible to fake, however the wide range of them proves unlikely. MNN will continue update as the reports come in. In other news, the storm systems have circumnavigates the northern ocean and seem to be moving back to the main storm...which still has not moved...."

With the sightings of odd things interest in the storms suddenly intensified. Science Senator Sister Maria called a special session of the Science Division of the Republic Senate and formally requested scientists investigate the phenomina. It was decided that a well-constructed ship would be sent into the heart of the storm to find out what was inside...

The nation of Pilon continues to watch these strange goings-on but don't take any actions as of yet. They are too busy with their many other projects to worry about some storms and ships in the sky, in the above water world of Mars...

(OOC:You don't care eh? Shouldn't have said that....)

The wail thundered through the water. The great titan floundered through the sea as it's legs imploded from millenias of neglect. The others merely followed the song of their masters, the cripple left behind as he was an infinite amount of years ago. He would not see his fathers again, the gathering would would not be his. His body began to decompose, as its' eyes faded away....

Location: Random Pilon Dome

A howl ripped through the town. The night was late, and many discounted it as the wind. The howl became a screech, louder and louder. The surreality of the howl consumed, it was like a creature of vibrations itself. More so it seemed to come from a certain point, in the sky. Nothing was there, but it still howled, nothing could be seen, but it still wailed. And then the final proof of it's existance came though, something was banging on the walls, and the damage registered.

Location: Mangala

The storm crackled as it devoured the moisture of the lake. The lights danced, and the phantoms worked. The thunder ordered and the lightning whipped. For below the surface, even the torrent of the storms, bubbles appeared. A colorful gas emerged from them and mingled in the sky, before they joined the lights. The earth shaked around the lake as cracks began to form beneath the crust. An anamoly could be seen moving deep within the core of Mars. An impossibility, but the thing swam through rock and magma, iron and nickel, it swam for the lake.

As the Dome of the Great Arcology was hit immidiately the Pilonese Citizens already equipped with Node MK-II stretched out into the surrounding area seeking the presence of whatever was attacking the dome. Some of the local life already equipped with Embedded Network Nodes acted as their eyes and ears, and the populace looked around through those lifeforms for whatever it was...

High winds and flying debris were hampering communications throughout the various tent cities of Mangala. The Grand Canal had been shut down and most of the ships were in port. The areologists were going crazy and a special meeting of the Imperial Council was called.

ooc note: fyi nearly all of Mangala is above-ground. There are a couple of secret installations under the Hellas sea, along with some research stuff, but nearly all of the nation is above ground. The storm forces me to confront an IC weakness of my nation. The tent fabric is really strong, but strong enough winds can in fact probably damage it... it only takes one rip for a tent to go completly and depressurize. Whether this is a problem has a lot to do with where we are in the terraforming process... what's the air pressure in the Hellas Basin?

OOC: At the last update, it was around 300 millibars. Possibly more by now. High-altitude Earth, about 1.12 times the pressure at the top of Everest, but with high CO2 content.

Sheffield, Valinon Treaty Port, Sunset Territory

Baron-Administrator Zaybok reads over his reports, before he reads the last one he turns in his chair. Looking out from near the top of the Great Spire of Sheffield's Central Dome, he watches as the Sun begins to set and the automated lights across the Central Dome activate. He can see West Dome 1 and North Dome 1's lights shining through their own reinforced half-spheres. He moves to collect his reports and call it a night, but then sees that the last report on his comp-pad has been flagged.
He opens the file, and reads, his eyes wide as he reads further. He turns back to his desk.
"Mrs. Lullian?"
"Yes, Baron-Administrator?"
"Inform Colonel Wayridge that I need to speak to him and Commander Farrel at once."
"Yes, My Lord," Zaybok wonders, not for the first time, if settling on Mars was such a good idea as His Majesty and the Diet had thought.

The ship pushed into the edge of the storm. Metal groaned in protest as the bow was buffeted. The noise only increased as the rest of the ship followed. Scientists, safe in their metal bubble, watched instruments go crazy as they tried to decipher the readings. The instruments bounced around - one minute they indicated large masses closing on the ship, then the next minute nothing.

Suddenly metal groaned and ripped and the metal bubble became a whirlwind of air and sound and flying scientists. For ten minutes the terrified screams of the scientists could not be heard over the gale. Then suddenly it died, and the ship was floating on a calm sea...

(OOC: If for some case you didn't manage to infer this, the thing is inside the dome.) Thump thump thump thump. Crash smash. The thing beat the wall with unimaginable force, but it was of no avail. It had slept to long. The beating suddenly stopped, much to the relief of many. The fish did not see anything, but they were disturbed. They felt something wasn't right. An electric disturbance in the water, or something. It was until they came that these feelings were seen as hard evidence.

According to the map, as the storms moved back to the great hurricane, another storm was merging with the current Pilon system. And as they moved, the ocean floor shook as something bounded across it. Or perhaps somethings. The vibrating ocean floor shook many other Domes and as they did more wails erupt from the surrounding Domes. The thumping as a great invisible thing bounded across the ground, never leaving marks, but still they sound were heard. And then the pounding. Louder then ever before, more energetic, it seemed as if something would break through. And then as the clock struck midnight, the transmssions stopped. The holograms, the radio, all over Pilon they wailed static. Except it was greater then, there was a method to it, and it sounded like what the few things the Pilon Node Mk II users picked up. A sense of void and antiquity. Something beyond their scope of morals. And as the storm surged, giant shadows were seen moving towards the domes. Their eyes glowed the dead glow.

Location: Mangala/Vascilia/ I need the name for this damn lake

Throughout the storm strange things flew. Thinking darkness, dodging the lights, winds the hunted and clawed and howled at Mangalan tents. The storm roared as the lakes bubbles caused great waves to roll onto the shore, tails of dark flicking them at the land.

Great columns of gas now spewed out of the water, siesmic waves rippling across land, shaking the foundations of the building. The anamoly in the earth begin to skew as its' great tentacles touched the lake, and the earth shook, the pillars of gas stopped. Great whirlpools swirled as something bubbled up from the surface. Mists swirled as great fog floated up from the whirlpools, quickly gobbling the light and hiding what was within. Lights danced within and the shadow of some great globe floated in the mist. Nothing confirmed its' exitance, but it still sat their floating. Yet the anomoly was still in the ground, as it's great mass threatened to break the surface.

ic: It was soon realized that the presence was coming from within the Arcology itself. The minds reached out to pinpoint the source helped by the Street Cameras, Local Park Plant and Animal life, and security sensors.

The migration continued to thunder. Louder and louder, the great leaps and shadows, the eyes and the light bounding faster and faster. The invible thing inside, pounding and pounding. The only sign of existance, a faint displacement of air, shrouding some great behemoth, the only force it gave off was violence. Smashing, thrashing, maiming, destroying, it did this to the wall as the pounding increased, louder and louder, moving with the great gathering of titans in the sea. Until the sound of thumping was on top of them, all over, cracking could be heard as the beast thundered and then....

Location: Hellas Sea/Sunset's research group.

Waves of earth rippled forth from the sea, shaking buildings and and domes throughout the hemisphere. The earth yawned greatly as the stress of billions of years was released, the great seismic waves collided on the other side of mars, and then bounced back with great force as the zoomed back towards the sea at vast speeds. Covering the distance in the blink of an eye, until the collided and a CRACK was heard, followed by silence. The storm paused, the lights faded, the cries stopped. But the fog lingered as the great globe vanishes in the clouds. The anamoly had vanished, but the crack still echoed as the seconds past, signaling, maddening.

Auman troops who had garrisoned the shores of the Hellas Basin were struck, confused by the appearance of this...thing, one artillery section opened fire on the lake...confused as to the situation they thought it was some sort of Pilonese super weapon. The shells landed short of the intended Target and the artillery section responsible was quickly ordered to stop.

Colonel Jarak had no clue what had happened here today, but he knew Lord Marduk would not be pleased.

---

Marduk hearing of this new threat from the Hellas Basin ordered a further 2 battalions of Light Infantry and the Airforce to the area. Lord Marduk had practically locked himself into his Tactical Command centre since the beginning of all the strange weather patterns arrived.

The gas flowed swiftly into the area, the creature blissfully unawareof its' fate. The miasma of poison quickly sacled the titan and soon engulfed the creature, it's great pounding stopped as a thud reverbrated as the thing crashed backward, it's great hands flailing about as it landed on the ground a great thud. Yet it remained invisible, an now sign of it even touching the ground was visible. Whatever it was, it was surely dead. However, a great CRACK resonate throughout the dome as the pounding outside ceased. Silence echoed. The Titans appeared to have dithered into the sea. Curiously, this was timed perfectly with the silence of the Hellas Basin.

The Wise counsel mourned those who were still in the affected area of the Arcology when the gas was released, their lost memories and experiances would be missed in the Nodelink. It was time to get answers.
Teams were sent in to collect any available data and to also collect DNA samples from what was left of the creature. Researchers began to pour through all available materials for any previous entries or even possible connections with whatever it was that attacked. Others theorized on who was responsible. Several possible candidates came up, Mangala, Vascilia, Bajon, New ArAreBee, Sunset, Wazzu, or even Menelmacar. More data was needed...

...And then it was over.

The clouds over Hellas Basin dithered and died. The great hurricane shrunk into the nether, the fog faded, the migrating storms merged and faded, the lights vanished, and the calm returned.

Yet the fear lingered. The Hellas Basin was haunted in the night, shadows fading in and out, things lurking on the bottom. Things that drove men mad walked forth from the lake. Nothing was right.

The 'Titan' was still intact in the arcology, the fields of transparency faded, but what was inside was disturbing. The metal crimpled and evaporated, leaving a green plasmatic gas the dispersed throughout the dome, or seemed to. Nothing abnormal could be detected. The skeleton contracted and contorted into some bizarre pyramid. Impenetrable, strange, and mangled it seemed. At its' vertex a bizarre red crystal shimmered. A sick crimson light beaming forth from it, emanating a feel of hate when seen.

And a plate was on the 'front' of this pyramid. Written in English, Spanish, French, Quenya, Eldar speak, italian, and every other concievable language. Written in barely legible font, it said a simple message.

"The World is set, and we are displeased."

IC: Pilon takes the Pyramid for study, they send it to their new R&D colony in a secret location... At the very least this creature could be used as a model for a new series of tests, as the Dragon had been, to create a new plethora of creatures to add to the Pilonese index of creation.
