Aerion's Present Status
Aerion had gone into silence for awhile. King Wasterin II had died of old age within the estate, in the isolation he kept for so long. With that, the power of government fell in the hands of the Chancellor, the Dukes, and the Royal Bureaucracy. Effectively, even though Aerion has gone through two Kings since King Wasterin II, both have been silently pushed to the sideline in what almost could be called a silent yet major shift of power.. The present power of the Crown is null, and void. The public no longer expects the Crown to do anything, neither do they pay attention to them. The Royal Bureaucracy, and the Dukes have pushed the Crown to appoint the Chancellor they wish to put into power. Now, as the coronation of King Wasterin V is being prepared for, many question the need for it. With the recent, mysterious murder of the Captain of the Royal Guard, and his replacement appointed by the Royal Bureaucracy many begin to whisper if the heir will live long enough to be coronated at all. Amidst the constant political, and social intrigues of Aerion's capital lay darker plots whispered about only in the latest hours after the high society parties, operas, and gatherings had ended.
As far as the populous of Aerion, they continue to work out their days in the capital city of Astevane, and in the twenty major Duchies of Aerion.
