Ruschi
29-10-2003, 22:45
Most Recognized Television Programs in Ruschi
-------------------------------

NEWS - RWN, Ruschi World News, is the nation's most established source for televised news, whether it must cover international press conferences, natural disasters, or Ruschi leader Sovereign Rustito challenging another world leader to a game of croquet. The network has been active since Ruschi's formation. Keep an eye out for Brent Everson, who lost his job at RWN a few years ago. He likes to pop in every now and then and say hello while threatening the camera with what he thinks is a jackhammer but is actually an empty bottle of Mountain Dew.

SPORTS - Motor racing is to Ruschi as Pokémon is to kids. There are at least three channels for normal access cable subscribers that cover stock car racing, indy car racing, superbike racing, redneck jalopey racing, etcetera. The country is preparing to host an NSF1 event in its next season, which the sports world (at least in the country) is quite excited about. Even Sovereign Rustito is an avid racing fan, despite allegations that he blatantly blows tax dollars on random assorted racing junk. Rumors stem from the fact that he had Air Force 1 painted red and had Budweiser logos slapped all over it, with a big number "8" painted over the plane's "1."

SITCOMS - "Two Guys, a Pope, and a Pizza Place" has been Ruschi's number one comedy sitcom for two years running. The debut episode consisted of the Pope's glass-bubble car getting lost and somehow ending up in downtown Ruschic capitol Melakko, so he has to take a job at a pizza joint while shacking up with two hippies until he can scrounge up enough dough to get home. The show was recently nominated for eight RITI awards, although "Jazzercise; Hosted By Star Jones" is expected to take most of the "humor" and "entertainment" categories.

EDUCATIONAL - Without a doubt, "Sovereign Rustito Is Your Friend" is Ruschi's best children's educational program. In this wonderfully acclaimed series for tiny tots, Ruschi's own leader, Sovereign Russell "Rustito" Dillinger IV himself hosts with an assortment of puppet pal friends once a week to talk to the kids about the joys and happy wonders of Ruschi, normally centering on the nation's armed forces. But things get scary when Big Bad Mattila Leader drops by to spoil the fun! Luckily, Sovereign Rustito tells the kids to sing along with him in a rousing counter-attack by singing the Ruschic National Anthem, and this always sends Big Bad Mattila Leader running home to mommy. At the end of the show, Rustito always puts on a big smile and tells the kids to never forget the Official Top-Secret Super-Duper Sovereign Rustito Is Your Friend Club Password, "YRATILIM EHT NIOJ." A truly remarkable program that reaches out to all the children of Ruschi.

Athamasha
30-10-2003, 03:53
Television is generally seen as a sign of moral decay in Athamasha.

That said, we do have a few TV channels:

Nuntii Athamashae (Latin): The up-to-date news from around the country and beyond. Its radio incarnation is very popular.

La Televido Ahxamasxa (Esperanto): Popular entertainment channel. Comparable to FOX in the USA.

Nuntii Communitatis (Latin): Our official Latin-language TV channel. It's rather similar to PBS: watched by a small, well-educated group of citizens. Unlike PBS it funded entirely by the Goverment.

Klamatsho Athamasha (Asham): A small network only accessable in Athamasha proper. As most Asham speakers are too poor to afford a television, it has a rather small viewship, but it's rather fanatically devoted.

La Reto Libera Patriota (Esperanto): A less-popular channel which is more or less the media arm of the Libertarian Party.

INTERMIKSANTO (Esperanto, Latin, Asham): A trilingual station which broadcasts programs in all three languages. It is run by the University of Asham and almost no one watches it because very few speak all three languages and the audiences are somewhat wrong (i.e., Latin game shows, most Latin speakers (the upper class) hate game shows)

Cannot think of a name
30-10-2003, 03:58
This is the best question I've ever seen.

The good people of Cannot think of a name have a bit of a quandry in regards to television. Early in the countries history the state secured the broadcast rights and in turn granted access to it's people on a grant system. The grants, however, will only cover the living costs of the producer during the production, and outlaws profit, essentially making everything public domain. The result? Some of the citizens regard it as belly buttin TV-

Doc-You-Meants: A documentry series where people film the intermost parts of their lives, in some excruciating details.

Act Globally: A very self satisfied series that compells citizens to take up activism in less "inlightened" countries. Even extremists think these guys are a bore.

The River Walrus Hunter: A pandering knock off show where a goofy man harrasses the nations animal, the Walrus-who of course frolics in the nations many lush forests, and mugs for the camera. The Forest Walrus is too fierce, even for him.

There is a burgeoning cable industry, which we'll get to later.

(or not)
Syskeyian Mars
30-10-2003, 07:10
Top ten shows in Syskeyia:

1. Chip N' Dale's Rescue Rangers - the classic Disney cartoon has been a runaway hit in Syskeyia ever since the show's debut in 1989. In fact, a majority of Syskeyian males who have been kids since 1989 have had, at one time in their life or another, a crush on Gadget. :D
2. Mark Mohammed - a sitcom of Lavenrunzian origin, Mark Mohammed looks at the life of a fictional leader of a made-up facist/fundamentilist country, who is constantly troubled by family intrigues and the nefarious East Pacific Treaty Organization (EPTO). A load of laughs!
3. Bigtopians say the Darndest Things
4. Hueygan's Heroes - another sitcom, its main character is Col. Paul Hueygan, a Syskeyian fighter pilot shot down over Iesus Christi during a hypothetical SATO-Reich war. Hueygan is captured and taken to Camp 13, a Iesus Christi prison camp. There, Hueygan and the other SATO/Allied prisoners (including some Chimaeans, Lavenrunzians and a Menelmacari) secretly run a sabatoge/evacuation/etc. operation under the IC's noses. (OOC: Basically Hogan's Heroes, but in an NS SATO/Reich setting)
5. Stargate SG-1
6. When Balrogs Attack (A Menelmacari show)
7. Biography: Syskeyia edition - bascially the Syskeyian edition of A&E's "Biography"
8. Space: Above and Beyond
9. Slipsliders - a physics grad at Syskeyia premier scientific university, in a experiment gone awry, manages to get himself and his friends sucked into a strange, alternate universe, where Syskeyia never existed, Siri/Nerdanel and Melkor are just fantasy, and it is uncommon for nations to have 1+ billion people.
10. Star Trek (The Original)

God bless,

The Republic of Syskeyia

Al Anbar has six television stations, all managed by the government. We do, however, sell satellites and people can turn into Al Jazeera, Abu Dhabi, CNN, and the such. They are delayed five minutes so that anything "bad" can be censored.

Average programming: News is on every day, calls to prayers in the morning, Saddam music videos, soap operas, and some western and Iraqi movies.

The most recent ratings in Buri are;

1: The X-Files
2: Slayers
3: Yami no Matsuei
4: Mystical defense, Hosted by our own Prime Minister Zagoth, each episode focuses on a single magical principle from a diffrent part of the world. He also teachs useful sword techniques that can be intermixed.
5: Trigun
6: Full Moon Theater
7: Buri-chan's sampler, as it suggests, this is hosted by myself, Prince Buri. Each week features the first episode of a random anime series, along with various variety show style skits, parodys, etc.
8: Hey Hey Music Champ
9: Furi Kuri
10: Forbidden Knowledge, A show that few nations would dare export, every episode reveals the innerworkings of many of the relics found buried in and around Buri. As they all wield great power, most nations only allow their rulers and military to understand their processes and uses. It also gives advice on how to hunt for such artifacts, and proper precautions when working with them.
Cannot think of a name
30-10-2003, 09:36
So now the cable. A private institution that was formed seperate of the governments influence, it is the most commercial catering mostly to the young and tourists. Top feeds are:

BBC Cannot think of a name: BBC repackaged for a Cannot think of a name audience. The channel favors shows with refrences the people aren't likely to get. It makes them feel worldly.

WBC: The Walrus Broadcasting Company, or as some people know it, the We're Better Channel. This channels programing revolves mostly around shows that highlight the Cannot think of a name dream. Is it still propaganda if it's not the state and it makes a profit? The current top hit is Naked Stan, a dramedy revolving around a naked man's adjustment to his newly granted naked freedoms.

ISBN: International Sports Betting Network. Since Cannot think of a name recently legalized gambling for children, this channel has become increasingly dominant. Since the population of Cannot think of a name is too full of themselves to compete in any serious sports, betting is made off sporting feeds from other countries, leaving some gamblers to keep odd hours to bet on their favorite events.

Zorro TV: Everyone knows its FOX, we don't know who Rupert thinks he's kidding....
