The Socialist Rules of Economics

The Socialist Manifesto: A guide to the New World Economy

1. All are created equal.

2. Property and business rights are to be respected on the condition that the workers/employees are treated fairly. Fairness is to be determined by the Socialist government.

3. The Socialist government must remain in power to ensure the emancipation and rights of the working classes.

4. The representatives of the people who sit within a Socialist government must be elected through secret ballot.

5. Managers are to be elected by the workers, managers are not the same as the owners.

6. The rights of small businesses and their growth are to be protected, the position of a business in relation to its market must be planned by the government to prevent RUINOUS competition.

7. The right to make a profit is protected as long as the transaction was fair and balanced. Transaction disputes are to be mediated by the government.

9. The countries food supplies are not to be exported if the safety of the people is in jeopardy. Food prices are to be fixed by the government.

10. The family is to be held sacrosanct. The family must never be exploited.

11. The Economy must serve the people, not the other way round.

12. All narcotics of any kind must be destroyed as well as cigarettes, tobacco products and alcohol. The health of the people must never be in jeopardy

13. The environment must be respected. A worker cannot be expected to live in an environment that is deleterious to his health.

14. Stress is a sign that the worker needs rest.

15. Trade Unions are the voice of the workers, listen to them and cherish them.

16. Trade Unions must be kept from obtaining too much power. A powerful Trade Union could destroy the very state that sustains the workers as a whole.

17. No matter the state of the Economy, the happyness of the socialist nation is of primary concern.

18. War is regrettable but sometimes necessary.

19. Never confuse Socialism and Communism.

20. Health care, education in all forms and legal protection must be free and widely available to all.

21. Corruption is to be destroyed, it is a cancer in the Socialist body.

22. Never trust capitalists fully.

Notice how the Socialist Manifesto protects property rights and business interests and the right to make a profit. We believe that the rights of the workers are violated if they have not the right to manage their own economic destinies.

(More to be added on discussion.)

Opinions are welcome. We seek to improve the Manifesto.

3. The Socialist government must remain in power to ensure the emancipation and rights of the working classes.

Even if that isn't what the people want? You sound like Lenin :p

12. All narcotics of any kind must be destroyed as well as cigarettes, tobacco products and alcohol. The health of the people must never be in jeopardy

Isn't that limiting personal freedom a bit? I mean, technically that also includes choclate and coffee....

19. Never confuse Socialism and Communism.

Indeed ^_^

22. Never trust capitalists fully.

um... technically that applies just as much to Socialists :p

Which is why I think Socialism is retarded, foolish, and would never work as a government.
Beth Gellert

There is nothing absolutely wrong with the concept of one "party" always maintaining power. The contrary view is one of a bigot locked into his own little world of present capitalist democracy.

In The people's socialist Commonwealth of Beth Gellert, of course, we have no parties at all, merely what we call the Commonwealth Professional Civil Service (of which the Commonwealth Consuls are essentially a part), and a three tiered system of open senates, Local, Regional, and Final.

Here, far from there being a secret ballot, temporary representatives are chosen at each Local Senate meeting where they be deemed (by the local people attending) required. These local senators then take their community's conclusion to their Regional Senate, and there choose from amongst themselves comrades to go on to the Final Senate, in a similar fashion.

Local Senates are open to participation by any and all nationals, and to observation on request by foreign visitiors. Regional Senates are open to observation by nationals, and Final Senates open with provision for exclusion as and when national security is agreed to require.

Beth Gellert will forever be socialist (or a more advanced descendent there of), and there is no system for the removal of that condition. Just as multi-party systems have no provision for a change to our system.

In Beth Gellert, however, there would likely never be an attempt to remove the peoples' right to drink themselves into oblivion should they so desire.

In conclusion, we, as self-proclaimed Igovian-Socialists, are far from in full agreement with the manifesto put forward, but support many of its basic principles.

With the exception of the 13'th point (the one relating to narcotics, alcohol, tobacco, etc.,) I would support it but do not think that it is necessary in a socialist society. Of course the manifesto is yours...

Sounds like here, except drugs are allowed and we have several parties, it's just so far the Socialists have maintained power nicely.

Which is why I think Socialism is retarded, foolish, and would never work as a government.

Let me put it this way:

Shut the fuck up you dense retard. You didn't give any evidence, you made a dumb flaming statement with no purpose other than to annoy on a socialist thread I might add.

POST FIVE HUNDRED!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

16. Trade Unions must be kept from obtaining too much power. A powerful Trade Union could destroy the very state that sustains the workers as a whole.

So in other words: let trade unions exist, make everybody believe they are listened to, but in the meanwhile make sure they do not have actual power.

OOC: if this doesn't go IC it should be moved, IMO, into General, where it can remain as an earnest socialism vs capitalism debate.

aaaah you socialists, so young and full of life. however it is time you saw that the only way to the freedom of the utopia is through the strength of a state communist government. The word "dictator" is so vulgar dont you think? nonetheless a "dictatorial" central commitee is the only way to surpress counter revolutionand ensure our freedom. As for keeping capitalism? surely someone put you up to that. maybe you work for "them" and are trying to bring down the left from the inside. Capitalism is not compatible with our destined utopia. We can work without it, and we will.

I don't know what is worse, those Regulated Feudal monarchists or the socalists and communists. Their are both bad for my company's business and seem to have an Idea that the workers need to be protected, I don't know why.

No, just to make sure that their power does not become ruinous to the entire Socialist State as a whole.
