Elections-Please Vote!
With the resignation of the Interim President of Cretal and resources not yet prepared to hold free elections, we, the body of Parliament, representatives of the People, ask the international body to cast its votes to elect our new interim leader, who will be charged with leading preparations for the permanent government of the Democratic Republic of Cretal.
Former Interim President Vladimir Gurav resigned after being impeached and convicted for unlawfully deploying troops without the consent of the Consulate and Senate, the Representatives of the People.
Four candidates have qualified for ballot status, and we will provide a brief biography of each, as well as known positions.
Varin Mikhail
Presently the UN Ambassador from Cretal, Varin Mikhail has been openly critical of the policies of former Interim Pres. Gurav. Mikhail does not favor aggressive militarization, and does not favor troop deployments save for humanitarian circumstances. He supports universal health care for all Cretalians, and supports the Progressive Caucus election system, which would provide for campaign finance reform and absolutely equal campaign spending by all candidates.
General Ilych Kukri
General Kukri is believed by most media sources to be the mastermind of Cretal's current policy toward aggressive militarization, which is unpopular with a large segment of the population. He has reportedly tried to buy both nuclear and biological weapons from foreign states, and he fully supports the troops over in Boomness. General Kukri would like to see the expansion of small business to invigorate the Cretalian economy, and he favors the privatization of health care and a flat tax.
Nikolai Illych Kolyanov
The Senate Minority Leader, Sen. Kolyanov led the unsuccessful fight to allow cargo planes with enriched uranium purportedly purchased by Gen. Kukri to land at Estlok International Airport. Although dashing, he is wildly unpopular with the student population, who categorise him as a "warmonger." He favors universal health care and National IDs, along with relaxed environmental restraints for business. Kolyanov has a bill currently in the Senate pushing for the repeal of the auto ban.
Andrea Takanov
Consulate Majority Leader Andrea Takanov is unabashedly liberal and favors the formation of political parties in Cretal to consolidate those of like mind. She favors universal health care and opposes any foreign deployment of the Cretalian Self-Defense forces. Majority Leader Takanov was instrumental in the quick impeachment and conviction of Interim President Gurav, charged with violating the Articles of Confederation. She favors a strong federal government, progressive taxes, and a ban on assault weapons.
The polls will close in twenty-four hours.

OOC: That's a no then :D
IC: Kaze Progressa have thrown their weight behind the Mikhail campaign, feeling his policies provide 'the best system of fairness and equality for all Cretalians... and a foreign policy stance that makes genuine sense.'
Support Kolyanov, or I send rats to your house to eat you. 8)
We have thrown our weight behind his campaign, and have sent him 1 million dollars to aid in finance.

Although we cant really decide on anyone who seems to share our veiws, our support goes with Kukri.
OOC: I thought the knife was called a kurki, not kukri...

[Hrm. I thought the preferred spelling was actually Khukri or something like that. Regardless, it seems at least inspired by the blade.
Ahem, sorry. Done hijacking.]
KOLYANOV USES FOREIGN AID TO LOBBY FOR TAX CUTS
CRETAL CITY, CRETAL(CFP)-
It was discovered early today that the recently passed bill forcing cuts in health and education budgets to pay for an across-the-board tax cut was pushed through in part with one million dollars in Roanian campaign donations. This is still legal under the new Campaign Finance Reform Act, however. It would have been illegal for Kolyanov to use the funds for the campaign proper.
VARIN MIKHAIL ELECTED INTERIM PRESIDENT!
