Breaking news from the Xanthalian Ministry of Information (A division of the Xanthalian Ministry of Truth):

The following is broadcast in audio/visual internationally:

The camera view shows an aerial view of one of the massive Xanthalian education centers in downtown New Krytan, the Xanthalian capital on Aellis V. One end of the school building is in flames, several fire-fighting hovertrucks pour water on the blaze. The entire school is ringed with over 100 ground and air police units, and an orbital picture in one corner of the screen shows an Armada starship keeping an eye on the situation as well. XMI news vehicles and reporters are scattered about, getting information to report from various people. A reporter's voice comes on as the tape rolls on the chaos below. "This is XMI reporter Dave Garner with breaking news from Xanthal. A group of about thirty armed terrorists have stormed Xanthalian Education Center 21 in downtown New Krytan with guns and bombs. They have yet to issue any demands, but are holding the seventeen hundred children ages six to eight hostage inside. The terrorists have incinerated the south side of the building with a plasma detonator, and have been pointing guns and yelling threats out the windows of the thirteen story education complex. The offenders have yet to be identified by police, and removing them or the students by transporter has proved impossible as they seem to be wearing disrupter belts. Hundreds of police officers and an Armada starship have responded to this urgent situation, and are currently waiting for new developments. If anyone has any information on the terrorists, they are urged to contact the New Krytan police department."

CNS Corporate News Service

...apparently there are around thirty terrorists holding over 1700 children and teachers hostage. Since all this has just become public knowledge a few minutes ago, there are not many details known as of yet. However, an expert that we have consulted by phone at the Defence Council has given us some information that might be useful.

Concerning the situation, he states that the Xanthal government and law enforcement can possibly have failed dearly in their duties to protect their denizens. According to him, a hostage action on such a massive scale must have taken careful planning and preparation, something that intelligence services should have been able to prevent, in most cases.

This same source, however, also acknowledges that it is nearly impossible to track the movement of terrorist groups, as they often operate without a fixed center of operations, work in small and flexible cells, and never stay long in one place. So this gives us a very confused image of what has taken place. On one hand, the Xanthal government is obligated to prevent these things from happening, and has failed in that task. On the other hand, one might wonder if they can really be blamed, when looking at the intangible nature of terrorist networks.

One advantage does exist in this terrifying scenario. The very fact that each terrorist will have to guard an average of 56 hostages, means that the chance of a mistake in their actions is very high. Constantly monitoring a group of more then 50 people is almost impossible, and even more when considering they will have to watch windows, doors and roofs as well. This might be a potential opening: our source at the Councils states that if the situation turns violent, the biggest advantage of the police forces will be the sheer lack of manpower that the terrorists will experience.

This is Katie Soban for CNS. We will be back in a few minutes, after these commercial messages.

Since time (everywhere...but since I can't force people to RP, simply within that post) has been changed and in some cases compressed, a faction might have arose due to a decision a leader of your's made...that was changed...and you don' t know about it.

Or perhaps they are a future or past terrorist group now existing in the present?

Sources report that the New Krytan police are preparing to move in and eliminate the terrorists by force. Nonessential personnel are being moved away from the building due to the danger of the terrorists setting off another bomb.
