The War of Unification: Roanian Historical RP
In the year 1954, Roania was not the united nation it would be in 2390. Instead, it was a land of warring states, few of which gained primacy for very long over the entire Island.
By the year 1978, the numbers of states had dwindled. There were only 5 remaining. The coastal Citystate of Agua, the Fortress of Roan on the plains, the Independent Duchy of Derricks in the mountains, and the jungle-warriors of the southwest. The northern cities had been destroyed, either through war or disease, and only Altayan and Alaitoc had survived.
Even in 2390, the north would be sparsely populated.
In 1978, though, a new King came to power in Roan. A king whose dream would shape the future course of history.
1978, huh? I'll join... but I do better at Gundam RPs... :P
So... what exactly do we do? I mean, history had already shaped itself...

If someone wanted to take control of a rival city state...
Man, that totally screws up my plans to attack Cold War Roanian cities with Gundams... :D

The king looked out over his people from his balcony. He raised his hand in the Roman salute. "My people. For too long have we fought for this island. For too long have we been at war with ourselves. It ends, now."
The crowd cheered.
"My children, I do not claim to lead you to peace. I do not pretend anything else than an end. By this time next year, Roan shall be the master of this island!"

The duke scowled at his generals. "This is the end time. Gather our forces. I shall be ruler of this island. And Derricks shall prosper."

The line of the Al-Roan kings ended in 2248, when Rasputin Macchiavelli killed the last one.
He ruled as a socialist for several years, until Edward Black arranged his death.
The current ruler is the Prince, like the Medici princes.
Ludwig watched over his soldiers as they grabbed their weapons. "M-16s... Leapords... if I succeed, no more buying American."

General Black looked out over his men. "I do not lie to you, today. Unlike our king, I am a man of few words. I tell you, though, that today we fight against evil."
The men started to mutter. He held up his hands. "No, our enemy is not evil. Duke Darquis might be unreasonable, but he is a good Catholic and a gentleman. He is only misguided."
"No, today we fight against a true evil. The elements. It will be a hard, cold slog up to the mountains. But we will triumph!"

There is very little information regarding the varied civilisations on this island.
A cival war has ravaged the country for over 150 years, and shows no signs of abating. The deathtoll is in the millions, and it is doubtful whether this war will ever end.
It's exact cause is unknown, but the main goal seems to be the union of the entire island. Nova Desel is approximately equidistant from the Soviet Union and the United States.
Ethnic population is around 87% European, specifically Italian and Teutonic. 1% Russian, 12% Native Polynesian.
Imports and exports do not in any true way exist.
