Necronomicon (Book of the Dead)(Open RP)

26-10-2003, 01:44
As he walked into a desserted building, with more than 100 miles between it and any other form of society, he acted as if he owned the place, an elegant and beautifully crafted mansion. As he walked into this mansion the man took a deep breath as if he had been sleeping for "years", in which he had.

He walked into one of the rooms, a room more beatiful than anyone would have any notion of grasping the complexity of it, he sat, once he was seated he picked up a book from the floor and began to read, in a book titled, Necronomicon, "When one comes back from the dead, they are known as to be invincible, but one can be deafeted if he is shot with an arrow that has the mark of Necromicon printed on the tip."

And with that the man heard alot of activity outside the walls of the mansion, as he got up from his chair he hears a voice shouting, "Don't take one more step, this is the police you are surrounded!"

The unknowing police officer saw the man step up from his chair with his hands up, in a fasion of cooperation. He slowly turns around, and makes one great bound from his spot to the officer. The officer nearly shoots but doesn't.

He yells to the man "What is your name?!"

*No answer*

"What is your name?!"

*The man replys this time*"Death"

The cop takes this as a reluctence, and shoots at "Death" and he dodges all five shots and with that he jumps and lands on the cop's head and snaps it off with one tremendous joult.

"Death" walks out of the mansion with at least 20 police officers shooting at him, him dodging every single piece of lead flying through the air. He walks over to a police car and throws the two men, standing by each other guarding the car, into each other eliminating his obstacles, sits down in the car and drives off into the horizon, as he shoots one of the other cop cars, using the police officer's gun from the building, blowing it up, and all the surrounding cars, leaving dead men all over the ground.

Some time after "Death" drove into the one horizon a small black dot appears on the other side. Slowly this dot becomes bigger and bigger until it can be identified as a huge black raven. When it arrives at the building it lands next to the corpses and looks round, stalking between them as if it is searching for something special.

Suddenly the raven transformes into a human; a young woman dressed into a long black coat knees on the ground, her long black hair swinging in the wind.

Slowly she arises and follows the trap of the tires "Death" has left on the ground with her eyes.
Then she starts to run and jumps up into the air where she transformes herself into a raven again and flies into the horizon, following "Death".

okay. well. the Skittletopian are secretly sending two SERA angels to investigate. if discovered they shall be disavowed

a commertial flight passing over the state of Daikerta, suddenly, unseen, ejects two coffin-sized pods. they frefall until they rotate to a nose down position, then a pair of glider wings burst out of each. they slowly spiral to a safe height, then burst open revealing two men clad in identical white trenchcoats who release 'chutes and land in an open field near to a small rural road.

"He should be..."

"...passing through this road any minute.."

"...we'd better prepare..."

"...to take him out"

they eject the cartrages from thier gleaming desert eagles and examine the rounds through the perspex window. each head bears a minute engraving of the necronomicon sigil. they are colour-coded red. indicating hollow point, explosive filled rounds. then bury the chutes and approach the road...

A shadowy shape crouches on top of the mansion, clinging to a gargoyale(?). He watches as this 'death' disposes of the police officers and steals a police crusier for his escape. The shadow growls softly, his claws leaving small furrows in the stone as his grip tightens in anger. Abomination! I will purify you, as I have done with your kind for generations... It is time I began another hunt...

"He walks...."

As the thoughtstream was expanded with these two words, the Council of Elders changed the focus of their meditation. Many evils were prophesized to appear on this earth, be defeaten, and reincarnate again, be that in similar or different form. It was the way of things.

"He walks, with no clear purpose. He is chased. He has read the book..."

An envoy of the book? The book of the dead had unleashed its evil on the world before, and never had it been victorious. Not completely. Their existence proved it.

"Do we act?"

Quick consensus. Preparation was impossible, but action needed be taken. Normal weapons had no use here. Neither did normal beings.

***

A lone drake ascended to the early morning skies, hailing from the breeding grounds near New Haven. On his back was a rider in blue and white, carrying longbow, katana and lance, three weapons of old lore, each of them blessed and enhanced in arcane manner several times. The rider himself, though, was the gravest danger that the Tainted being would face. Trained, dedicated, resolved. The rider himself did not know if his experience and dedication would suffice. Maybe others would eliminate this new thread. Maybe he had to do it. Maybe he would fail.

But the future is created by those who experience the present...

He scanned the room, drawing a pistol, the model of which was hard to determine in the dim light. The shadow's golden eyes came to rest on a sort of book. He translated the title. The Book of the Dead... The shadow flipped through a few pages with his clawed hands, stopping on the page describing the symbol. This will be useful... He tears the symbol out of the book, stashing the picture in a belt pouch.

OOC: okay so we have a raven and two coffin sized guys chasing 'Death'

IC:'Death' looks behind, as he turnes around he the two men coming up on him quickly and swiftly, 'Death' speeds up as the two men approach him. As the chase grows faster, He begans to really run fast, and the two men finally, barely, catch up with him and bring him to the ground. 'Death' Gets up and dusts him self off, and with a glance he disarmes both of the men within a blink of the eye, thrusts them to the ground and uses the men's parachute devices to tie them up.

'Death' looks at them with dissapointment, he pulls a 7 inch knife from a brace attached at his calf and cuts one of the men's shirt open. He slowly cut's the mans chest open, peels the skin away and punctures one of the lungs in such a way that whenever he breathes his lung pools with blood makeing him cough and spit the blood up. 'Death' steps back and whatched the man come to a slow death.

He slowly paces over to the other man, as 'Death' looks in his eyes he sees fear like none other, with that he kneels next to the man with a grave expression on his face and is startled by a very loud skawk in the background as he looks over his shoulder he sees the raven.

"No, not you, it can't be"

"Y-yy-y you died two years ago"

The raven descendes and turns into the womenly figure.

"Yes it is me, 'Riccar'", she says.

And with that 'Death' Gets up and runs as fast as he can away from her and dissapeares over a hill. Riccar stands ther, then slowly walks over to the remaining man, looks down, she takes this neck and turns it completely around and the fear once in the mans eyes descendes into nothing, no life.

OOC:Of course it's not the Raven. WA and me are not the same. :)

And ...errrmmhh ... I mean, your post sounds good to me and I would like to play the Raven as "Riccar" but ... errr ...are you sure that Skittletopia would like to see his agents die so early especially if he doesn't "let" them die (writes their death himself)?
If you confered with him and he told you to do so please forget that I said anything.

I'll just go on with what has happened:

IC: Riccar waits for a few minutes, kneeing next to the men. Then she bents down over the first man and presses her lips onto his and takes a deep breath as if she would suck something out of the dead body. Then she does the same at the other man.

"Don't worry, my dears. You won't stay lonely for long." she says with a deep worried and sad voice.
After that she again starts to run, jumps up into the air and changes into the raven.
This one flies up over the roofes and follows "Death".

Through the clouds he soared. The sun was at its highest around this time of day. Sunrays, falling down from the heavens, left the lonely rider with a comfortable sensation of warmth on his shoulders. Circling high above the landscape, his blue eyes scanned the land beneath him, trying to find a clue as to which course he should take now.

Choice

Three things he had felt. The first event had been quite easy to detect. The Tainted being had concentrated a fairly large amount of energy, after which a violent scene had taken place, without a doubt one with deadly consequences. The Tainted had continued his inhuman pace through the lands after that butchery, and was now heading away from him.

The other two entities he had felt were closer to him. Dashal, Battlemage in the Dragon Priest Order had clearly noticed the two inhuman presences in the area beneath him. The first had been clearly recognizable. The Book of Death was not the most subtle thing existing. The sheer aura of terror and fear that it radiated could be detected miles away. That is, by a trained mind. But the Book of Death was approached by the second entity, a living creature. Much weaker than the Book, but it seemed to have taken it nevertheless.

Dashal now felt he had to make a choice. Retrieve the book, or give chase to the Tainted? After circling above the landscape a few times, he made his decision. With a slight alteration of pressure with his knees, he changed the course of his steed. Gracefully, the drake started to descend, heading roughly for the mansion beneath.

IC:

James Belmont, descendant of the Belmont clan, drove around to the mansion on his motorbike. He had to be fast - Death couldn't have got far. Underneath his long black coat he wore a royal blue shirt, reminiscent of the one has ancestor Richter wore against Count Dracula.

Screeching to a halt just as the Raven took off, he sensed something was not right about it... a mind far too powerful for a bird...another hunter? Or an associate of Death? Regardless, he had no time to question this bird creature.

As he walked towards the mansion, his several weapons pressing against his back under the coat, he felt another presence. Someone powerful. Someone inhuman, slightly...reptilian? Could it be...Whiptail? He approached the mansion carefully.

Whiptail, too felt an odd presence. His keen hearing detected the prattle of a motorbike, and felt the presence of one as pure as their own faith. Another has arrived... Whiptail thought to himself, slipping back out the window. The book is left open, with the symbol torn from one of the pages.

The drake slowly came down from the cloudy skies, landing relatively close to the mansion. Dashal, happy to feel the ground under his feet for the first time in four days, gave his steed a few mental orders, that would make sure, for one thing, that the drake would not fly off without permission.

As he was arming himself with katana and lance, he thought some more about the situation. He could feel a whole web of involved beings was starting to form around both the book and the Tainted. He was in doubt whether it would be wise to also become a direct participant in the ongoing events, or if it would be better to wait and observe.

Then, he figured that him coming here was already a form of participation, and what one started could better be finished, or at the very least continued. With the lance in his right hand, and the katana in a sceathe on his back, he made his way to the mansion. There, he saw he motorbike, yet another sign of increasing involvement of third parties. Figuring that whoever owned it would probably be after the book of Death, Dashal waited, sitting down on a large piece of rock a few feet from the bike, rather then entering the mansion himself.

The Raven flies high above the ground always following "Death". But it doesn't attack him, it doesn't even come next to him.
It only follows.
Sure, "Death" feares the Raven, better said he fears "Riccar", but this doesn't mean that she/it could do any harm to him. Not in a physical way. But "Death" doesn't seem to know this.
Then the Raven suddenly stops to follow "Death" and lands, far away from him and changes back to the young woman. Her eyes face the direction she has come from.

Damn. I was too impatient. How shall I do what I have to do when I can't even hurt him? Maybe I'd better have a look at the entities at the manor. I'm sure they can help me to complete my mission. she thought. Then she lookes into the direction where "Death" is Run, my friend, run and fear the hunters.

Riccar takes a run, jumpes and again changes into the raven and flies away, heading at the manor.
Before it arrives there it lands in the solitude, just out of sight so nobody could see the transformation.

A young woman, wearing a long black coat, black leather trousers and a silver-gray shirt approaches the manor. Her long black hair move in the wind and her blue eyes face the drake and a man, maybe his rider while she walkes through the dead bodies.

Erik, Lesser Duke of Bathame, heir to a long line of Warriors, Second Weilder of the Bat Loch and reserve Lieutenant in the Royal Britmattian Navy, was bored. As was his dragon. This, as several tutors and fellow cadets had found down the years, was a bad combination. Supposedly, Erik was the military attache at the Britmattian Embassy. In reality, he was there to look good in uniform and chaperone the ambassador's rampantly promiscous teenage daughter. He'd given his sworn word to do so, and mostly the little minx kept him busy. Unfortunately, she, her father, and nearly everyone in the embassay, had gone to the Summer capital when the local rulers did.
So Erik was in a highly receptive mood when V'neer mindspoke to him..
*Erikhh, there'sss magichh in the airhhh. I canhh ssssmell it. Powerhhhful magichh Erik.*
He brightened. "Really? We didn't know Daikerta had any significant magics, this I should investigate. With force if necessary!"
Grinning at that happy prospect (OOC, the Britmattian nobility are a WARRIOR class, bashing stuff with bits of sharp metal is their idea of a good time.), Erik dashed up to his rooms, hauled out and put on his body armour, including the distinctive Bathame BatHelm and drew his BatLoch out from under the bed, where it had been since a Daikertan lovely had declared it "Just terrifying Erik honey!". Jumping down the stairs two at a time, clanking under the metal and grinning ferally under the helmet, Erik skidded into the embassay gardens, ran towards a a waiting V'neer and vaulted into the Draco Equsae's saddle.
V'neer lurched into the sky, flapped hard to gain height, then twisted his reptilian head around to regard his rider.
*Itssss blacchhh magichh Erik, dark ssssstuff. Haven't sssseen such since we killed the vampsss in your grandfather'ssss daysss. Thissss is worsse.*
"Is it a match for a pair of warriors like us?"
*Nothing issssa match for ussss. Essspecially not weak foreign magichhhssss. Did I ever tell you about the elvesss from the old world, thhhhey had ssssome powerful magicssss.*
"Yes, yes, C'mon V'neer, head towards the magic, I want to get there before I rust!"

Nyarlanth, the High Priest of the Cult, came out of his chambers, shaking. The Necronomicon... They had thought for a long time that they were the only ones who held the book. He had seen it in his dreams, as he has seen so many other things. Even if this was ominous and rare, it was not unheard of, editions of the book coming up from the weirdest places. The Cult had always went after these people.

A human cannot stand the Mythos Sorcery for long, and will, in the end, have to choose between madness and rejection. It is obvious that this wielder of the Necronomicon had gone mad, but had not lost his power over the Sorcery. Even this was rare, but not unheard of. Such things were known to happen, from time to time. Unless, of course, he actually is not a man at all. He could be something quite different.

A member of the Cultist intelligence sect was sent to the land, to contact any local cults. They are everywhere, unseen, dormant, waiting for the time when the Stars Are Right. They could be used to investigate this... Incident. The Necronomicon must be retrieved or destroyed. The said book is not for the eyes of any non-cultist.

James entered the mansion as quietly as was possible while wearing steel studded boots. Following the reptilian scent, or trail rather, he quickly found the room that the Necronomicon was in, just as Whiptail escaped through the window. James surveyed the room, taking in everything about it. He sensed the presence of Whiptail outside, but he would not chase him if he had no wish to be chased. His eyes fell on a book, open on the table. So, it is true. Another book has been found...

James had been told of the Necronomicon when he was still undergoing his training as a vampire hunter. He'd never really listened, and had believed with all sincerity that he had wasted his life on arts that would never be practised, until that night when his father...

He strode towards the book, and noted the page that had been ripped out. Must have been the sigil... At least this Whiptail knows what he's doing. He took the book, and stuffed it within the dark recesses of his overcoat.

James left the mansion, and noticed a figure on a rock several feet away from his bike. He turned to him with an inquisitive look on his face.
27-10-2003, 20:48
"Goodmorning," Dashal said with a smile on his face. "My name is Dashal Tzu. And by the looks of what you carry, you are a hunter. That means we share a certain bond. You and I both hunt evil, so it seems."

Dashal then fell silent, carefully observing James. After some twenty seconds, he continued:

"Now, I admit I cannot predict the future, but you must also know that you and I are not the only ones interested in that book you carry. I can imagine some eight different factions that will be looking for it, and most of them are not nice people. So rather than fighting you, I suggest we team up for a little while and help each other to get out of here. When we're done with that, we can see if we have any mutual objectives. What do you say?"

Whiptail crouches atop the roof of the mansion, eyeing the pair of men below. He had the symbol in his posession, now he had to put it on an arrow. Perhaps it will work if it is placed on a bullet? He pondered, not relishing the fact that he might have to take up a longbow again. He studied the two men below. One wore a blue shirt, most likely a member of the Belmont family, a respected clan of vampire hunters. The other was an enigma to Whiptail. He rides a beast of fire and brimstone, yet seems to be pure of heart. This is truly interesting... Whiptail resolved to stay put for the moment, best to study ones allies, or potential opponents, before engaging them.

(OOC: And nobody sees Riccar? :( How can two men overlook a young woman dressed in black leather trousers ( :!: looking like a second skin :!: ) :?: *grumbles* )

Riccar now stood only about twenty yards away from the two men when she suddenly stopped.
She had sensed another being that was very different to the others. Maybe that's why she didn't reckognize it before but now it was impossible to ignore the presence of the third entity.
Somewhere to her right.
She looked into this direction but only saw the house.
Maybe inside or ... on the roof!
Riccar looked up and for one secound she saw something. But what it was ... she didn't know.

Whatever it is, it is nothing I've ever met before. Interesting.

Riccar decided that this could wait untill she finished her job. And if this third entity was another hunter she would have enough time to study it while they were hunting "Death".
So she continued to approach the two men infront of the house.
27-10-2003, 23:27
Dashal did notice her, but since James is closer to him and carries the book, he speaks to him first
28-10-2003, 20:34
(OOC: Apologies Earth, I must have missed the last sentence of your post. For some reason I thoguht you were a little way away from the mansion.)

"Hrm. I can imagine that the book would be a prize worth having...however, I can hold my own should they come looking. I'd be glad of the assistance in the search of a man calling himself 'Death', however. Somehow, it appears he is using the book to empower himself, or perhaps even mass an army. I am uncertain of his intentions, but even from here I can smell the foul stench of his black heart. My name is James Belmont, of the Belmont clan of vampire hunters." He held out his hand for Dashal to shake.

James sensed another mind, one that was familiar to him. It had certain bird-like qualities, only much more powerful...the raven? He turned his head to the right, and saw the woman coming towards him.

What the!? A wereraven, perhaps? Or something worse...

She was beautiful, by any account, but something about her troubled him.

"Hello there, my lady. How can I help you?"
28-10-2003, 20:37
Dashal took James' hand and shook it, stating he was glad to make acquaintences with James. Then, he also turned his head a little to face the approaching woman. Before she could get close enough to hear anything, Dashal softly whispered something to James:

"Listen, my order needs this book to find out more about this "Death" creature. I can take you and the book to a place where we can get information on how to fight him in the best way. Surely, that must be a better option than just rushing in"
28-10-2003, 20:42
Whispering back, James said to something to Dashal.

"Your words are wise, but I am unsure that we should leave the trail of 'Death'. However, your heart is pure, and I must put my trust in you. Very well, we shall go to your order, but on one condition. I cannot let the book out of my sight. This may very well be the key to destroying the foul vampires once and for all - something I cannot loose. I hope you understand."

"Hello there, my lady. How can I help you?" one of the two men said before they both whispered to eachother. Riccar didn't hear what they said but all in all this was unimportant.

Her big blue eyes focused the man who had spoken. With a silklike voice she answered:"Both of you are hunters I suppose?", she smiled and brushed back a strand of her black hair that had fallen in front of her face, "And you are searching for a person called "Death", aren't you?" an aura of innocence surrounded her although her words didn't really fit to it.

For a moment, James was captivated by the beauty of this woman. Quickly, he regained his senses, and answered.

"I'm not sure who I'm looking for. I'd really like to get the sick pyscho that did this though. People like that piss me off so much..."

James felt that his acting really wasn't up to much.

"So you are looking for "Death". " she stocked and smiled again, "Before I forget it, my name is Riccar. And you, "looking at both of them, "are?"
28-10-2003, 21:55
"My name? Oh, James, James Bel- James Belmark. Do you know where this 'Death' might be? I've got the urge to snap his neck in half for this."

James had no idea why he was lying. He knew he was an awful actor.

"One must keep his emotions in check to conquer his foe, Mr. Belmark." A voice echoes from the roof. The origin is difficult to discern, yet the voice sounds odd, as if the speaker has smoked for a long period of time.

OOC: He doesn't smoke, but I don't really know what else to compare it to.
28-10-2003, 22:09
"A pleasure to meet you, miss Riccar," said Dashal whilst slightly altering the grip on his lance. "My name is Dashal Tzu, and I think I am here for reasons similar to those of both you and James."

Finishing his sentence, Dashal looked up to the roof at hearing the strange voice. He arched an eyebrow in surprise. If whoever was there would want to stay hidden, then why did he speak? Or if he wanted to make his presence clear, then why did he sneak up to the roof?

A very inefficient creature, whatever it was.
28-10-2003, 22:10
James looked around quickly, but was unable to see the fourth speaker. He smiled as he sensed Whiptail crouching on the roof of the mansion, and called up to him.

"Get down here ya pussy, or are you going to stand up there and taunt us all day!?"

Oh my. He mentally shook his head at his embarrasing acting.

A black shape drops from the roof, landing noiselessly in front of the others. It rises with a low growl, revealing the reptillian features of Whiptail. "I do not believe that your father would appreciate your words towards a fellow hunter. I will forgive you of your actions in his name." He turns and faces the others. "I am known as Whiptail the Fallen." He says with a bow.
28-10-2003, 22:29

Whiptail narrows his golden eyes. "It is impolite in my culture to mock another's name. It is a long story, too long for the present moment." He glares at the speaker. "I will forgive you this time. Erik peered out over the mansion. "I don't see anything that screams "DARK MAGIC!" at me here V'neer. I don't see bugger all actually. There's some people standing around talking at the front, but not much else seems to be going on."
V'neer snorted, little puffs of smoke coming from his nostrils on the outbreath. "Thaat issss becaussse you have a worthlessss human nossse. There are dead people in that houssse, and in the foliage beyond. Blackhh magichhh, stinking blackhh magichh everywhere."
The black dragon flicked his head irritably, his rider leaned back in the saddle, crossing his arms over his chest and did likewise.
"Well. What about the group congregating down there? Anything about them?"
The dragon turned it's head consideringly and sniffed. "A wereraven, magichhh raddled humanssss..and something elssse. Nothing like the magichh I can ssssmell."
"Well land then, carefully, I don't want to be shot at, and I'll have a word with them."
The dragon swooped in slowly, Erik craning his neck to watch the little group as they approached. "Mithra, the woman is...gorgeous.."
V'neer frowned as much as is possible with a browridge. "She issss the wereraven..ssuch a one isss not for you."
Erik bounced a mailed fist off V'neer's scaled back "Less of your nursemaiding old one."
V'neer peeled a lip back to reveal impressive fangs, as close as he could get to a human grin after several hundred years of practice, flapped once, twice and landed. Erik vaulted out of the saddle, landing a few feet from the group and bowed.
"Halloo meeting, room for a mad axeman?"
Four silent stares swung to regard the young man and he edged fractionally backward..

Fast she gained her self-controll back.
"Who are you ... dragon?"
She didn't even look at Erik.

Space. Perfectly flat and drab, to the naked eye. However, deep down in this vacuum lies the sea of space, vast waves and wormholes, all existing in a space smaller then an electron. Deep within this space lie the manifolds. Realms of darkness and abonormality, sealed off from the real world billions upon billions of years ago. Yet the old can still find the lost ways, and still do.

The vacuum contorted, first spiraling around like a great whirlpool, its' might maw devouring light, but soon thie changed as whirlpools within whirlpools fought one another. Streams and holes, great tsunamis of the fabric of space itself. Shapes that seemed to end and begin again, extending into places not possible to comprehend. This happened in the mere plink of the eye, nd was soon over as the gate formed for a brief second, its' neck extending back and shrinking until invisible to any sort of microscope or electron waves.

The obelisks sped out of the warp as quickly as the water spider, skittering across spacetime as if it were cloth. They were on a business mission, however out of its' hole came the disc. Resembling things seen in the human 1950s and continuing into the late 1990s, it sped across the earth with unparalled speed. As the object broke the atmosphere, it blinked out from exitance.

The contortion bubble was a strange thing. The waves of antigravity protecting it from the realm of being. It followed its' preprogrammed course to the letter, landing in the realm of the house. It wailed its' silent wail as it projected the lightfields and took in the surrounding area. A human walked out. Or so it appeared, not threatening in anyway, perfectly normal. It walked past the field and entered reality, as the ship flittered off to watch.

So you are here because you want ... what? The one who calls himself "Death" or the book?"

Whiptail's tone becomes serious. "This so-called 'Death' is not of this world, and will be eliminated. I will do so without your help, or with it. Assistance is always welcome, for my hunts are usually solitary undertakings, and therefore quite lonely. It is your choice." He crosses his arms across his chest.

Riccar imitated his pose and crossed her arms, the dragon seemed to be forgotten.

"I will help you to bring him down. But ," she looked closely at all the persons present, " I've got one condition; when he lost his life he is mine." her eyes again became black, this time visible for everyone. Black like the deepest depth of the sea, dark like the eternal emptyness of space. And as cold as both of them.

"Promise it!"
31-10-2003, 16:53
Dashal felt strengthened by the presence of the dragon. Hopefully, the magnificent beast would not talk about things that needed to remain silent, things that only the dragons and his ancestors shared. Despite their image as reclusive beings, dragons could be quite the talkers under the right, or wrong, circumstances.

"Allright, from the looks of it most of you want this "death" dead. I wonder why. None of you has been personally harmed by this being. But I am not to be the judge of your choices and actions in life. Now, as each of you has managed to get this far, you will probably sence were Death has gone. I propose that whoever wants to kill him, goes after him now before he has a too big head start."

Noticing that James has managed to hide the Necromicon from other eyes, Dashal ends his statement, awaiting replies.

"If you understand it or not is unimportant. You can hunt him, you can kill him and if you want you can even keep his head as a trophy. But "Death" himself, what he is, belongs to me. Just promise that. It's everything what I want.
And now we should listen to Dashal's wise words and follow "Death" or this whole hunt will end before it begins."

Riccar had become the (more or less) usual woman she had been before while she said so. Now she turned around, heading towards the direction where "Death" was.

"So, what are you waiting for, gentlemen?" she said before she jumped up into the air and changed back to the raven.

OOC Sorry guys, I keep losing the bloody thread.

Erik blinked. V'neer looked to be eyeing the wereraven very closely indeed, and the dragon usuallly didn't apply that much visible scrutiny to anything he wasn't intending to eat. After having entirely too many glares pointed at him on his arrival and now the wereraven's dramatic exit and V'neer's distraction, he was beginning to reconsider his entrance. He attempted a disarming grin at the young man with the shotgun "Err, my name is Erik Bathame, I'm the Defense Attache at the Britmattian Embassay, my partner here could smell some ugly magic here, so we came to take a look, you can probably put the safety back on that now please?" This last came slightly louder as Erik got ready to vault behind V'neer in case the man started shooting. Solids or buckshot, it wouldn't penetrate dragonhide.
The man visibly settled himself. "No. We're hunting the magic that Riccar was describing as she left."
V'neer rumbled as the man spoke the wereraven's name. Erik looked at him but he was still tracking the increasingly small dot in the distance.
"Well...I guess we are too. V'neer, let's go!"
Erik vaulted into the saddle and V'neer threw himself skyward, massive wing muscles bunching and releasing as he strained up to a reasonable height, then settling into a pursuing glide after the raven, clearly visible to his own draconic sight...

The raven, Riccar, followed. She followed "Death'" path. She felt his present, something like "Death" couldn't be missed by something like her. And she felt another present, two to be exactly, following her.
Riccar shuddered. The dragon was one of these two.

I hope this mission will be fullfilled soon. But I also hope that these two will be enough. I'm wondering what all the others do. (OOC: Hint ;) )

Erik hunkered close into the saddle and blinked into the slipstream as V'neer powered after the raven-woman. Very little of Erik's tactical training had included ideas for what to do in this sort of situation. The Britmattian military hadn't had anything to do with magic since the death of the last Great Wizard and the Bathamian Crusade against vampires within that Dukedom, so their training gave magic a cursory glance and moved on. Erik was cursing this bitterly, along with his own impetouosity in getting involved with this in the first place. Chasing "Death" was not his idea of a fun day out, and his armour was starting to chafe. V'neer was also rhymthmically intoning what sounded like Draconic swearwords in mindspeech. Erik swore some more, eying the wereraven. "Death. chasing bloody Death." V'neer grunted "You're not doinghh the hardhhh workhh, sssstupid. It'ssss gotten cold too quickly assss well, thisss isss not natural. And there'sss ssssomething...the woman issss not an ordinary were...she smellsss differentih."
Erik sighed mournfully, this is where boredom brought the scion of the former kings of Bathame. Bah. He patted the dragon on the neck "Well at least if we catch Death we'll be guaranteed a place on the Isle of Names."
The dragon grunted again and powered on..

A black object fell from the sky above "Death" leaving some smaller objects behind. These smaller objects were black feathers floating in the air and the bigger object was the raven aiming at "Death".
First it seemed as if the raven would try to hit the hunted one but a second before this happened it stopped its fall by spreading out the wings and landed a few meters in front of "Death" looking at him with its cold black eyes.
Then it changed to the young woman, Riccar, but never turned off the look from "Death".

"Hello, my old friend. Aren't you happy to see me?" she asked in a sarcastic way.

Her voice contained bad hidden cruelity. It was the complete oposite of her outer appearence, except of her eyes which still were deep black. And if one looked very closely at her eyes he could see that her eyes looked like bottomless pits.

She smiled.

Erik scrabbled for the straps on his saddle as V'neer backflared his wings trying to stop before overflying the woman and the man she'd changed on sight of. V'neer flapped hard and sculled to a stop. He arched his neck back and hissed, Erik, bouncing back off the saddle swung back and forward like a ragdoll. V'neer bellowed in draconic rage and Erik swallowed, he couldn't see his partner's eyes, but he was willing to bet they were the distinctive red of a dragon in full blood rage. He flipped his batloch into his hand again as V'neer dived past the wereraven headed for the stunned looking man who'd stopped at her approach. He opened his mouth and started to speak, but whatever he'd been saying was wiped away as 30 feet of dragon hit him like a truck and smashed him through the air and into the ground. The dragon and "Death" both disappeared in a cloud of dusk. Riccar stepped back and covered her eyes when the raised sand reached Erik and her. Then she blinked into the dusk and tried to find one of them but only saw vague contours.

Then, out of nowhere. "Death" appeared in front of her and instingtivly Riccar took her chance. Seeing him and and jumping forward was one. But she had fogotten one thing: because she wasn't able to kill creaturs like "Death" she had never tried to learn how to fight them. Usually she only came when they were already dead; but "Death" was everything but defeated.

'Death' Recognized the untrained tactics of Riccar and used it against her. He grasped her by the arms and threw her away about 20 yards. She landed on a concrete platform, and unexpectially felt V'Neer grab him by the shoulders and throw him down.

'Death' then took V'Neer, after her failed attempt to attack him, and threw him on the same concrete platform where Riccar lie, motionless.

Where they dead? Wondered 'Death', as he approached them he heard a jet fly over and as the jet flew over it spray a watery mixture but the way the water was not soaked up by the very dry dirt in the desert he then realized that it was not water. Both Riccar and V'Neer awoke once they saw the substance, and began to panic.

OOC:Ok here is where we need someone to say they flew the jet and we need to continue the story to find out what this substance is, I'm looking for some type of substance the Riccar and V'neer have some recolection to.

OOC:The same substance for both of them? They are absolutly different types of beeings. If there is something that attacks both of them, wouldn't "Death" have to feel it too? And even if this works, isn't it a little bit curious that this jet appears and spreads out this stuff (whoever did [will do] it)? But if Britmattia can live with it I'll do so too. (and if we find someone who flew the jet)

Erik looked at the panicked movements of the were-raven, and the dragon who'd been his partner since he was old enough to walk, then looked up as the liquid floated down from the sky. He had no idea what it was but it seemed to be upsetting his ally? and his partner. There was however nothing he could do for them. He continued tracking 'Death' through the whirl of dust, the battle and the low-flying jet had whipped it up into a swirling morass of sand and gravel, but his helmet came with all sorts of sensors, designed to let him see just as much as his dragon.
There. He moved quickly through the cloud of dust, then noticed a red flaring, he looked down, and one of the runes on his batloch was glowing an ominous red, the rune looked like this..

Erik shrugged. If his batloch chose to glow ominously that was it's business. He continued heading towards 'Death'...

OOC: well let's just say that riccar and v'neer are privy to it but 'death' doesn't react to it for some reason (a later on revealed mystery). Does that help??

IC:

Riccar was kneeing on the ground; every part of her skin where the substance had hit her burned like hell and every muscle in her body was cramped of pain. She gasped for breath and inhalated some drops of the liquid and screamed in pain when her lung was partly cauterised.
trying to cover her body with her coat.
Riccar kneed on the ground and tried to cover her bocy with her coat.

Her fingers had left deep scratches and a trail of black blood on the concret when finally the last drops of the substance had fallen and dissapeared.
She was lieing on the ground partly covered by her coat. Her body still trembled with shock and her eyes stared apathicaly into the sky.

Death moved out of the swirling cloud ahead of Erik. He seemed to be headed towards the collapsed figures of the woman and the dragon, but Erik had no intention of letting him reach them. He increased his pace to bring himself to 'Death' within a few bounds and swung his batloch and released the war shout of the Bathamians, "HissssssAH!"
The batloch scythed through empty air as Death dodged inhumanly fast and Erik slid past, spinning from the momentum of his swing. He halted and hefted the glowing weapon and glared at 'Death'.
Death laughed softly. "You think you can hurt me with that..toy? Try your best, child."
Erik hissed again and surged forward, batloch spinning in a complex pattern, red light bleeding from it as he struck. Death lazily stretched out a hand to block the descending weapon and screamed in pain and surprise as it removed the hand with ease. Death stumbled back, eyes wide and mouth agape in shock. Erik slid into a guard position and looked up at his batloch, which was now flaring, lighting the whole area with ruby light, emanating from the rune.
"Well there's something you don't see every day."
'Death', cradling his stump started to circle, Erik circled with him..

OOC:Ahem right back at ya. :D

IC:As they circled 'Death' looked at him with great intensity in his eyes creating such fear that Erik became so scared that he almost froze up but was able to over come his fear of 'Death' and attack 'Death's' leg and grabbed on to as if to trip 'Death' but all he had to do was wind up and with one great blow sent Erik flying about ten yards back.

Slowly, Erik stood up to once again face 'Death' straight in the eyes, and this time Erik wasn't at fear becuase of 'Death' but was scared of what he saw over the shoulder of 'Death'.....

While Erik and "Death" had circled the life had returned to Riccar's eyes. Slowly she had arose, unsure and weak at first but with every step she made to approache the two contrahents the more powerfull she became. She didn't know where exactly this power came from but it came. It run through her venes like blood and hold her up, made her stonger than she had ever been before.

"Death" threw Erik to the ground and didn't care about what was happening behind his back. Riccar approached him. Her eyes were again black like the night and her face without any expressions but now she had also opened her mouth and behind her white teeth there was something that scared Erik: Nothing. No skin, no flesh, no background, no light. The pure Nothing was there.
Riccar touched "Death" shoulder with her left hand and turned him around as if he would have been a small nasty child. Her eyes met his and she opened her mouth wider; then she took a deep breath and a second one and a third and with every breath she took something like black and white smoke left his body and entered her mouth were it disappeared in the Nothing.

"Death" felt his powers dwindle and somehow he seemed to loose parts of himself with every breath she took*.

* ooc: this doesn't mean that he looses parts of his body of course.

Erik scooted backward, his hair standing up as some form of energy crackled through the air. Death was screaming soundlessly as the were-raven, or what he'd thought was a were-raven, did whatever it was doing to 'Death'. He reached what felt like a safer distance and got back to his feet. Death was thrashing feebly in the what he was going to think of as a woman's grip. He swallowed and ran around the tableau to where V'neer was stirring "Old friend, we're getting the fuck out of here, stat." V'neer clawed himself to his feet. "Nottt yettt, you musssst finisssh him."
"The damn woman is eating his goddamn soul! He doesn't need finishing you stupid lizard!" Erik had had too many nasty surprises today and was getting a little tense.
V'neer sniffed. "You musssst."
Erik growled and spun around. He sprinted over to where the pair of figures stood, drew back his batloch and cleaved 'Death's head off. The raven didn't notice as far as he could tell, and the head remained screaming soundlessly. Erik ran back to V'neer and vaulted into the saddle.
"Now get us airborne, I'm not going toe-to-toe with either of those two, we'll hover and watch."
28-11-2003, 01:07
As 'Death's' soul was being ripped out. Riccar was interupted by the helicopter up above, it seemed as she had not a chance to finish what she was doing with 'Death' and dropped him, he fell hard on the ground with great limpness, Riccar took off and when behind a hill and was not seen when the helicopter watched from up atop.

'Death' slowly came to his feet but had to sit back down as he did not have enough energy to stand for very long, he couldn't help but wonder what had just happened to him.

He thought, Where was Riccar, and why was he such short of energy.

Riccar hid behind the hill and tried to find out what had happened.
She had been half death and suddenly she had felt the power coming back from somewhere, fleeding her.
And how the hell had she been able to take "Death's" soul although he had been alive? This should have been impossible. But she had felt so strong, strong enough to do everything, to absorb every soul within a radius of dozens of miles. But she hadn't done. Why? And where did this power come from ... and were did it go? She felt weak now. She knew that she was as powerfull as always but the immense power she had felt moments ago had gone.

OOC: Im at kind of a loss on what to do, so this will be a short one.

IC:But just all of a sudden Riccar felt a tingle all over her body, she didn't know what to do.

The helicopter swooped lower, blatting overhead. The pilots and crew concentrated on the dodging raven and the stunned looking Death. They didn't notice a rapidly approaching black blur until it smashed into their craft from the rear and ripped the tailboom clean off, then dived away again. The chopper almost immediately spun out of control and smashed into the ground, exploding violently , wreckage and fuel scattering over the area.
