Following extreme civil dissent over the terms of the Peace Treaty signed by the Government only a few years ago (See Tortuga begins to disarm thread), a large group of Nationalist Protestors today stormed the Senate building and declared thier total control over the nation. What remains of the Republican Government has reportedly fled to the Allied Nation of Canadian Princes where they hope to Allies will send troops to put down the rebellion, no word yet as to whether or not Allied troops are moving.
Some have commented the uprising seems all too orchestrated, with similar uprisings happening in every major industrial city, for the most part in the North of the country, where the Nationalists carry the populations support since the North was hurt the most by the Disarmament. It seems all but hopeless for the Republic to return, Army units ordered to put down the Rebellion have instead joined it, flying the Red and Gold colors of Imperial Tortuga.
The Leader of the Nationalists, Archwald Harck, made an electrifying speech from the podium of the Senate, claiming it was time for Tortuga to regain it's former holdings, and make the Allies pay for thier destruction of Imperial Tortuga. Following this the mob broke in and took the Senators who were not with the Nationalist Party, outside. No report on how the Senators are at the moment.
The only comment from the Allies came from President Chambers of the Sword and Sheild, who claimed that the Rebellion was an internal matter for Tortuga, and that he had faith that the population would realize thier folly and re-instate the Republic very soon.....
