An ally's reward? ((ATT: Siri))
The elf silently crept into the transmitter room. He sighed and dialed a number he knew all too well.
The Empress's number.
Merrech looked around. Everyone else was asleep. He rarely slept any more. It was too close to death. And he had seen a lot of death.
He was old, even for an elf. He had been young at the kinslaying, and had fought against Morgoth and Sauron both.
And he had been exiled, for some crime, from Menelmacar. What was it again? It was so long ago I can't remember, and I doubt Sirithril does either.
Life had been good for him, here in Roania, though. His own tower, for his private introspections. A position on the council, a license to practice magic. Though if a bunch of decadent descendants of Eorl dared to stop me it would be their funeral.
And yet, for all his attempts to escape his previous life and name, for Merrech wasn't his true name, Eu knows, it crept up on him. He was still a Menelmacari, and it was his mission to bring this matter to his Empress's attention.
She correctly believed that the Roanians, this time at least, would remain loyal. She did not, however, know that the Roanians were very bitter. He sighed and began sending the transmission.
[code:1:5448457e1a]To: Empress Sirithril
From: Merrech
Elentari, it is my most grevious duty to bring a matter to your attention.
Quite frankly, we risk losing the Roanians. No, not to the dark or Morgoth, they have learnt their lesson. But certainly they will stop aiding us unless coerced, should matters not be dealt with.
I know you think that they can be lost, but they can not. You need them, if I may speak frankly. You have few allies not bound by CENNA's regulations, few allies willing to be brutal enough to get a job done quickly and correctly.
There are mutterings on the streets and in the barracks. Alexander is an absolute ruler, but he is not a secure one. Should public opinion turn against Menelmacar, not even coerced support will come. It will be promised, but something will 'crop up.'
Also, Alexander himself feels as if he is being treated rather poorly. This is worse than public opinion, as his support is needed for the Roanians to even try to do anything.
My influence can only stretch so far. M'lady, I reccomend a state visit, either you come here or he goes there. Get him on side.
You need not fear that you will meet me should it happen here. I shall absent myself from proceedings, find other business.
I remain, your most humble servant...[/code:1:5448457e1a]
Merrech paused. Did he want to put down his real name? No, not really. Even if the Empress did not remember it, someone surely would.
[code:1:5448457e1a]Merrech.[/code:1:5448457e1a]
In the tongue of the wood elves, it meant Betrayer.

Merrech:
Your... continued service despite your exile has not gone unnoticed, and I thank you for it. Though I'm curious why you selected this particular alias for yourself.
No matter, though, that is a discussion for another day. Inform the Roanians I will be visiting. Though the tone of the visit remains undecided... they have come dangerously close of late to 'crossing the line', if you know what I mean.
I look forward to your prompt response.

I still hold that what I did was for the best, Elentari. We can not stand against the forces of darkness forever.
Some day, we must make sacrifices...
As to that matter, the General responsible for those foolish actions has mysteriously disapeared. His whereabouts are currently unknown.
I shall do as ordered. And I shall make myself scarce.[/code:1:456b4fd908]
Alexander stared out at his city. He sighed. "Being ruler of this country isn't as easy as I though."
"Yes, well, about that. Sirithril is visiting." Merrech said. Alexander felt unseen coils slide around his neck.
Alexander turned around. "She's what? The Empress is coming here? My overlady and ruler? Neep."
"Yes. I just recieved a transmission from her. I have informed Darquis, of course."
<<A Very Elaborate Bump>>
"Okay. Now, how am I meant to greet her?" Alexander asked, eyes firmly on the bottle of brandy on his mantlepiece.
"It all depends. If she greets you by name, you call her 'My Lady', and bow moderately. If she glares at you and calls you 'Prince Alexander', then you bow deeply and call her 'Elentari Sirithril, heir of Feanor'. If she calls you Worm, then you start to look for another job." Minister for Protocol Himmler stared at the brandy as well. So did all of the other members of the Council of Nobles.
They all reach for goblets at once.

The Gilthoniel approached the airport of Roania's capital city. Once within the area controlled by the airport's traffic controllers, the ship contacted the tower.
"Roania ATC, this is Gilthoniel. We are carrying the Elentári. You are... 'requested' to provide us with immediate landing clearance, and a gate at the terminal with at least four hundred meters of open area."
~Siri
"This is RATC, permission granted." The airport buildings seemed to... shift somehow, and then it was set up exactly as the Gilthoniel's captain wanted.
A massive amount of soldiers began to run from barracks and assemble at a respectful distance. Polizei quickly scoured the streets for anyone not waving a Menelmacari flag.
Alexander woke up. "What! She's here already?" He quickly grabs his cape and sword. "Nyah! Everyone, let's move!"

The Elven cruiser passed low over the terminal, giving all inside a lovely view of the majestic craft... three hundred fifty meters of shining mithril, painted a glossy void-black and blood-red. The ship was sleek, sort of organic looking, and very elegant, with many wide windows, fierce-looking weapon turrets, a striking dual-pronged bow, a prominent bridge tower towards the aft and long triangular flags flying from comm masts. The name Gilthoniel was emblazoned on the hull in a sort of luminous golden script, in both Quenya and English, and the daggerstar sigil of House Fëanor was prominently displayed on the hull in a number of places.
When the Gilthoniel reached her assigned gate, she rotated smoothly into the air and nosed carefully into the spot, setting down so gently upon the tarmac that there was no sound to be heard nor impact to be felt. The hatch of the vessel opened...

The first to emerge from the craft after its staircase extended was not Sirithil, but rather a pair of Menelmacari soldiers - members, in fact, of the Mornahossë, the Shadow Force, Menelmacar's special forces unit (which also serves the role of the Secret Service, protecting Siri) famed and renowned in those nations which are friends with Menelmacar... and feared and dreaded in those that aren't.
There were only two, though, and they descended the stairs resplendent in full armor, shining golden in the sun, with gleaming rifles, and each also carried a Menelmacari flag. That they were seen was a testament to their peaceful intentions; when they are hostile, the only visual evidence of a Mornahossë presence comes in the form of a crimson flash of pressurized helium plasma or the excruciating pain of a passing monobladed longsword as oblivion descends.
Yet when they reached the bottom of the stairs, they simply placed their flags into a pair of little holders so they would fly proudly in the wind; they presented arms, and turned inwards, facing each other.
At last Sirithil herself appeared, tall and beautiful, wearing a white robe that shone like pearls and diamonds, yet was made of the softest and silkiest of fabrics. The robe was trimmed and embroidered in golden thread, matching the pure gold shine of her hair and glimmering in the sunlight. She waved to the crowd, giving them her gentle smile as she descended the stairs. When she reached the bottom, her soldiers saluted her, and she returned the salute.
Following her was a male elf, blue-eyed and raven-haired, wearing a similarly colored robe. His facial structure and poise bore a strong resemblance to those of the Elentári; this was her son, Lord Maglor, Heir to the Daggerstar Crown. He followed a similar routine as his mother as he descended the staircase.
Thusly did the Queen of the Stars and her beloved son step for the first time onto Roanian soil.

The Prince ((Would you mind if I refer to your Prince as prince Maglor? Only the Prince is the ruler of Roania)) looked around, confused. He hissed to an aide. "She hasn't spoken! What do I do?"
"Just act natural, and hope for the best." Prince Alexander stepped forward, hesitantly. A full phalanx of Inquisitors instantly surrounded him. "Look, I hardly think that the Elentari would kill me. Out of my way."
At a nod from Richelieu, the Inquisitors ducked out of the way. Alexander stepped forward on his own. When he reached the foot of the stairs, he paused. "Most Glorious Elentari, Heir of Feanor, Holder of the Daggerstar Throne, it is an honor to welcome you to my humble Principality." He coughed, and then kneeled, in the knightly pose.

A reprimand seems to be in order. I'm the only person who should have been drinking his sorrows out, last night. Alexander nervously mopped sweat from his brow, and quite accidentally stepped on Himmler's foot.
Darquis snapped out of his reverie and glided over. "My apologies, Elentari." He said in Quenyan, with barely a trace of an accent. "My comrades have been... quite busy the last few weeks, and we were only infomed by Merrech two days ago. The stress is getting to them." He smiled, or at least bared his teeth.

OOC: Of course, in a nation full of Eldar, and with an Elf on the counsel, some people have to learn to speak it. Alexander isn't incompetent, he just prefers protocol to actually thinking. And when he's dealing with a situation that has precedents, he can cope tremendously. Please bare in mind that by all rights he shouldn't have inherited the throne for at least 60 more years.
IC: Alexander stared at them both, incredibly confused. What are they saying? He coughed and squeaked out a few meagre sentences. "Um... Perhaps we can go to the resturant, no... palace, yes. Shall we?" He looked rather depressed.
