An unexpected message [ATTN: North Germania]

At the Vrak Diplomatic Corps HQ

It has been a busy few weeks as of late. First, the investigation and subsequent diplomatic dance with Der Angst. Then the ongoing Scolopendran state visit, not to mention numerous internal Klatchian affairs. Suddenly, another diplomatic communiqué bleeped through. But this one was different.

From: The Armed Republic of North Germania

== Message ==
Greetings from North Germania. I wish to offer peace between our two nations and peace from my region. Write back if interested.

“The Armed Republic of North Germania? Who are these guys?” mumbled Ipshi Hagwonak, Ambassador First Class and now, recently promoted as chief Ambassador in the Diplomatic Corps. Which translated into less sleep and more headaches.

He waved over an Intelligence officer and asked,

“Rob, have you ever heard of this nation?”
“Nope. Can’t say I have.”
“Well, run a scan on them.”
“Okay Chief.”

Ipshi turned back and send a reply….

More messages were exchanged and finally Ipshi wrote out this telegram.

[code:1:3ae2e0d7cb]To: - Diplomatik Korps of The Armed Republic of North Germania -
From: Vrak Diplomatic Corps
Subject: Peace

Excellent. Please send over a diplomatic team to our capital, Vrak Prime. You are allowed a maximum of 5 visitors in your team and only two may be considered bodyguards and allowed to carry arms – of the pistol variety and no larger. Recording devices and the like will have to remain at home.

We look forward to your visit and hope that we can send a team to your country as a follow up.[/code:1:3ae2e0d7cb]

“I truly wonder what they want,” mused Ipshi, “We’ve never received unsolicited requests like this. Any progress Rob?”
“Well, North Germania is quite a small nation of eight million located in the Axis of the Neu Reich region. On the surface they seem to be similar in goals and government structure.”
“Any third hand information?”
“They seem to have a very low profile.”
“Well, their plane is set to arrive in a couple hours. The Meeting hall is ready?”
“Yes sir.”
“Good. Bring my car around.”

An official military jet from North Germania carrying three diplomats and two bodyguards armed with pistols lands in the Vrak airport. The five exit the jet while the pilot and co-pilot remain onboard.

First Diplomat Jürgen Eisen: Official greetings from North Germania, we have come to insure peace between our nations under the circumstances you proposed. We carry no recording devices or weapons. Only the two bodyguards, Herr Hauff and Herr Weissig. They both carry Luger .9 mm revolvers only.

Second Diplomat Alfred Steiner: We wish to discuss mainly peace; however, our close ally South Germania has recently been threatened by The United Socialist States of Soviet Trasa. We are not requesting military assistance, as they have not taken any actions against us and have ceased making any further threats. We have come to inquire the military of Vrak's position if an aggressive action was taken against North Germania or if it had to defend itself against an aggressor nation. We do not expect for immediate unquestioned military support in name, but perhaps with time could develop a mutual military alliance. We realize our military size is not even comparable to yours; however, every nation in my region will mobilize its military no matter the situation. These nations will only do this for nations within the region or close allies outside the region. With further diplomatic relations visits, we perhaps could extend our military support to your nation and perhaps region if needed.

Third Diplomat Friedrich Greiss: Please keep in mind our nation is not seeking a course of military actions, merely securing a military in case of the need to use it. We are by no means asking your nation to assist if we ever decide to invade another region or nation. We have merely come here to further improve our good relations and come to directly wish you best wishes and intentions from Chancellor Wilhelm Keebler Einheit III of The Armed Republic of North Germania.

Ipshi, after introducing himself and taking in the rather direct message from the three diplomats replied,

“Ah…well. Perhaps we can discuss such things over at the Hall of Meetings. That is, I appreciate your forthrightness but, to properly give you an answer, I would need to know more background information regarding yourselves and Soviet Trasa.”

He indicated to the waiting armoured limousines with the Vodniks providing escort.

"Shall we?"

OOC: Sorry, it's been a very busy few days, so I haven't until now had a chance to post a reply.

Third Diplomat Friedrich Greiss: Let us proceed. The Vodniks, is it? And to the Hall of Meetings? Very well.

The three diplomats and two bodyguards proceed to the armoured limousines, entering the cars. As they near the Hall of Meetings, they all notice the very different architectural style of Vrak's buildings to those of North Germania. Then, they see the Hall of Meetings. An architecturally brilliantly designed building. They all exit the limousines and enter the structure to the appropriate meeting room.

Third Diplomat Friedrich Greiss: Wonderful building. Ah, but anyway, to continue with diplomatic processes, I have been given an official message from the Reichführer, sent through Reichambassador Karsten Haust down to myself to be delivered to you, Herr Hagwonak. It is written as follows: "Greetings to Ipshi Hagwonak, Ambassador First Class of the Diplomatic Corps of Vrak. I wish to propose a meeting between Reichambassador Karsten Haust and yourself. I feel that though diplomats serve as excellent initial peace negotiators and servants of peaceful relations, they alone are not enough to maintain and augment peace and prosperity between two nations unfamiliar with one another. Thus, the previous suggestion, a meeting between the head ambassadors of our countries, respectively, in the capitol of North Germania, Veisser, and specifically in the Reichchamber. If accepted by your side, since your chief ambassador will be visiting the Reichchamber personally, I will allow 5 armed bodyguards, four carrying pistols, and perhaps one with a small caliber automatic weapon. The Reichchamber will be accepting you with highest honors and full servitude if you feel it wise to pay a visit to Veisser. The Reich Office would be honored. If these processions go along well, perhaps a meeting between myself and the leader of Vrak could be arranged. With best regards, Reich Chancellor Wilhelm Keebler Einheit III of The Armed Republic of North Germania of the region Axis of the Neu Reich."

First Diplomat Jürgen Eisen: If the Ambassador First Class himself cannot be present in the near future, perhaps a diplomatic meeting on North Germania's soil could be arranged, to show our good intentions.

At the capitol of North Germania, Veisser, a medium snow has littered the streets and avenues. Inside the tall, marble building of the Reich Chamber, Reich Chancellor Wilhelm Keebler Einheit III is discussing diplomacy, in a hopeful tone, with General Sepp Dreisiger.

"...the nation of Vrak appears to be willing to establish peaceful terms, having accepted three of our diplomats and even allowed bodyguards to go along with them. To answer your question, General, I do not feel that a military threat exists within this nation. If they had decided to conduct any hostile actions, they would have done so by now, not suggested peaceful meetings, agreed?", spoke the Chancellor.

"Agreed, Chancellor", replied the general.

"We shall see soon hopefully the details of this nation and in turn share our own culture with them through trade negotiations and even a meeting between myself and the leader of Vrak. I am eager to increase what has been a totally peaceful relationship between North Germania and Vrak."

Two foot soldiers armed with assault rifles patrol in the snowy streets outside the Reich Chamber and speak between themselves of various topics and of course, the newest diplomatic hope: Vrak.

OOC: No problem. As well, “Vodniks” are Russian hummers.

Ipshi reads the diplomatic note carefully as they settle themselves in the meeting chamber. Aides rush in bringing food and drink while a small contingent of Royal Marines eye the North Germanian bodyguards. Then in a deep baritone voice he began,

“Please convey my deepest gratitude to your Reich Chancellor Wilhelm Keebler Einheit III, Third Diplomat. But perhaps before an exchange takes place, I would like some clarification as to exactly why you approached our nation. You mentioned earlier that you were “threatened” by Soviet Trasa and yet now they do not pose any danger to your nation. Frankly, Vrak does not like to involve itself in conflicts of which there is no background history provided nor with nations that it has no prior dealings with. But we can act as an intermediary to help broker a peace deal if that is what is required.

As for our King visiting your land, well, I’m afraid that is impossible. He is old and doesn’t take well to leaving the Palace much these days. But some kind of diplomatic exchange is not out of the question.”

OOC: I first noticed you on The Forum, and thought you would be a good trade partner or ally.

First Diplomat: Herr Reich Chancellor initially approached your nation because he noticed the size and economic strength and sought an alliance based on that. We request no military assistance, as you have clearly stated you do not like to involve yourself in the affairs of other nations. The military strength of our nation is increasing daily. As well as the said topic, our region and allies are gaining military strength just as quickly. We are also finding more and more allies; however, our superiors in Veisser still believe that the continued alliance between North Germania and Vrak would be extremely beneficial, especially in any forms of trade, or merely just to maintain an ally. In any circumstance, maintaining good terms with your nation is high on the Reich's list of priorities. If you would like, arrangements can be made for a diplomatic team from your nation visit Veisser. They would be met with highest honors and best manners and servitude. We hope you agree.

OOC: No problem and thanks for the compliment. IC-wise, Vrak is always suspicious of nations that it has no previous contact with. Heck, we’re always suspicious. :)

IC:

Ipshi nodded and then responded,

“Well, I’m sure some form of trade can be reached. Our Trade Division will supply you with a list of our exports and imports. A diplomatic team can certainly be arranged in order to cement any trade agreements and to strengthen our ties.

Would you be interested in a quick visit of the Royal Zoo? We have some strange wildlife that some foreigners find fascinating.
