"Lords and Ladies of the International Community, i give thee thanks for affording me the opportunity to speak before ye this day. Please allow me to introduce both myself and my nation."

The man pauses to sip from the water glass on his podium.

"I am Sir Rupert Ogden, Envoy to His Royal Highness, King Garandor of Allistaz. It is the wishes of our court that we may enter into gracious relations with all friendly nations. We seek to become a part of the International Community, if ye would have us."

"It is the further desire of our court that we enter into the International Community as helpful and productive world citizens. As we are a fledgling nation at the moment, we are limited in what we can contribute, but any assistance we can offer will be given high priority and quick consideration by His Royal Highness."

"I thank thee for thine time. I hope that beneficial international relations may be established with as many of thee as possible. If thee would like further information as to the beliefs and values of our Kingdom, please send thine messenger to our court, and they shall be received with full respect and hospitality."

OOC: I am new to this game and online gaming in general, but have been a pen and paper gamer for quite some time. I hope I don't step on too many toes or break too many rules of ettiquette as I learn the game and the community. I have read a few threads and some newbie guides so I hope I can at least get off to an amicable start. Thank you.

OOC: Crimmond said it best actually. A region does offer the benefit of hopefully more personal interaction among its members. Many regions have forums and websites made up for better communication and to advertise their region to newcomers.

You can find out more about a nation just by clicking on the person's name. Then you will be directed to that person's region. Quite a few regions that concentrate more on the roleplay aspects of NS (like ours for example) are password protected. This is done to prevent "region crashing", since a lot of people put quite a bit of effort into their respective regions.

Some regions specialize in one type of genre (say fantasy) or political leanings, although this isn't necessary.

Sir Rupert walks down the short hallway connecting his office to the small ante-chamber of the Great Court. In his hands are a few sheets of parchment marked with the official seal of Allistaz, a yellow cross over a red cross contained in a circle of white.

As he entered the small room he saw the familiar figure of Terrin Quillstaff, the Court Recorder, bent over a large stack of papers on his worn desk.

"Good day to ye, Terrin." he called out as he crossed the tiled floor. "I've a few pages for ye, when ye have the time."

Terrin sat upright, if one could call it that. Years of handwriting the official records of the court had taken their toll on the once tall man. He was slightly over 6 feet in height, but the perpetual hunching of his back made him seem several inches shorter.

"Good day to ye, Rupert." Terrin replied. "Put 'em here with the rest and I'll get to 'em eventually."

With that he pointed to a large stack of disorganized pages. There were many with the official seal, but also a good many without. The processed records were rolled up as scrolls and tied with a red and yellow ribbon. A large blob of red wax held an imprint of the official seal. These would soon be indexed and stored in the vast Hall of Records in the lower levels of the palace.

"So, how was thine speech today?" he asked.

"Very well I think. We did have a few responses from some of the other Nations, and they were all very friendly." Rupert replied as he lowered himself into a chair opposite Terrin. "If ye have a quill and parchment ready, I can relate them to ye."

Terrin slid a fresh piece of parchment from the table behind him and took down the particulars of Rupert's responses, noting the names of the nations involved and marking them as Non-Hostile / Friendly. The records would be passed on to the King for review before being sent to the Hall of Records.

To the honorable Envoy, Sir Rupert Ogden, Salutations.

I see by the titles used herein that your nations is a monarchy, yes? Most excellent. Perhaps if you would be so kind as to explain in more detail the goals and political stands your nation takes on matters such as sovereign rights within yours and other nations, trade - your needs in both inport and export, the level of technology that you operate at, and so on and so forth. I prefer to be as educated as possible when making the aquiantance of fellow leaders and governments that have previously been unknown to me and mine.

I wish you success in your endeavors, and compliment you on your earlier speech. It was delivered well and tastefully. It is gratifing to know that such things as tact and diplomacy are still held in esteem by others.

To the esteemed Nathicana D'Aquisto dal Lupo, Dread Lady of the Dominion

Dearest Lady,

On behalf of His Royal Highness, King Garandor of Allistaz, the people of the Kingdom of Allistaz, and myself, we do extend our gratitude for thine kind words. It pleases our Royal Court to exchange formal greetings with other nations, and it is our pleasure to provide thee with answers to thine queries.

As ye noted, our government is a monarchy. The crown is held by His Royal Highness, King Garandor of Allistaz and his Queen, Her Royal Highness, Queen Elsinore of Allistaz. They are kind but firm rulers.

As a monarchy, sovereign rights in Allistaz are held by the crown. We understand that in other forms of goverment, sovereign rights are held by the people. We neither approve or disapprove of the way other countries run their particular form of government, as it is the right of any nation to conduct their affairs in a manner of their choosing.

Our political goals in the international ring are modest. We seek to trade that which we have an abundance of for that which we either do not produce or have significant shortages of. We seek not power or influence, but simply prosperity for the nation and our people.

Allistaz is a simple nation by comparison to some of the other nations of the world. We have recently discovered the value of using machinery in a few of our industries, though some protest it displaces workers. Our military is kept primarily for defense of the crown and our people, and pales by comparison to some of the larger nations. Our people have the right to arm themselves, and would be willing to defend their homes if ever the need arises.

His Royal Highness, King Garandor of Allistaz, wishes continued success and prosperity upon thine nation. The Royal Court extends its welcome to thine people to visit Allistaz for business or pleasure. We look forward to a continuance of pleasant relations between our nations.

Sir Rupert Ogden,
Envoy to His Royal Highness, King Garandor of Allistaz.

To the Honorable Sir Rupert Ogden, Envoy to His Royal Highness, King Garandor of Allistaz:

Greetings from the Dominion.

I was most pleased with your response, and commend you for your skill at delivering a missive so informative and well written. It is a skill all too rare in the diplomatic arena these days. It is a joy to correspond with one who so skillfully employs the art.

I am also pleased with your views on sovereign rights of a nation to govern itself as it sees fit.

Goals that serve the good of the nation are admirable ones indeed, and I wish you well in your endeavors. As to size, or industry, or technology levels, I would suggest that we all have different needs, strengths, and interests. It behooves us, as you said, to make use of such avenues as are available to share where we can, and in turn benefit from such inequalities.

Perhaps, if you were to give us a better idea of your trade needs, both in inports and exports? I'm certain we could come to some agreement that would be mutually beneficial.

I also hope that your nation will thrive and prosper, and thank you and King Garandor for your kind well wishes. I thank you as well for your invitation, and wish to extend the same to you and the Royal Court.

Sincerely,

Nathicana D'Aquisto dal Lupo, Dread Lady of the Dominion

Lastly, we applaud your great effort to bring your new nation to the world stage. Very few new nations do this, and indeed, this has suprised us. We wish you well.

We thank thee for thine kind words and thine welcome to the international community. It is most pleasing to correspond with friendly nations, and more so when the correspondence is so gracious.

The Royal Court is looking forward to establishing relations with thine nation. Thine offer of assistance is building our country is appreciated. The Royal Court will conduct a study to see which areas of development we are lagging in and then we shall see if there is some area in which ye may help us.

Proclaiming the goals and policies of our nation would be an exhaustive effort in the form of normal correspondence. If ye have any issue specific queries, I would be happy to answer them. As for the rest, the Royal Court has suggested that we send embassadors to each other's nation as part of a Cultural Exchange program. With luck, each nation will better understand the other and our friendship and commerce relations may benefit. We have recently completed a complex of apartments and offices for use as embassies. There are other friendly nations that we wish to invite as well.

Envoy to His Royal Highness, King Garandor of Allistaz

To Sir Rupert Ogden, Envoy to King Garandor of Allistaz,

We happy to see the nation of Allistaz's willingness to coopreate with Omzian Democratic Republic.

We would be happy to set up a good relation to Allistaz. Although we are quite capable of assisting the nation of Allistaz in various projects, we can offer a hand from our military, incase an imperalistic empire comes and attempts to conquor this fellow nation. Of course, we are honored to be able to send an ambassador to your nation, and we are quite welcome to your ambassador.

If possible, we could send a delegation team, along with Ambassador Janue Thora, also the former Ambassador to the nation of Sniper Country. Nation of Allistaz may send their ambassador and delegation team, if applicatable, to the capital city of Osaria. The "Osaria Embassy Court" has various empty spaces.

We look forward to exploring the cultures of Allistaz, and her goals.

Sincerely,
