The Xanthalian ministry of Defense will have it's funding cut in half from $10 trillion to $5 trillion effective beginning next month. The Xanthalian government made the announcement to the international community today, saying that the Defense department recieves a 'grossly disproportionate amount of funding considering it's overall role in current Xanthalian affairs'.
The funding cut will most likely greatly slow production of new Xanthalian military vessels and cause many unused vessels to be put into spacesock until they are needed in order to save money. The Ministry of Defense has objected to the move, but believes it can maintain 85% of current defenses if it cuts production down by 80%, cuts funding for new technology research by 60%, and shuts down 90% of currently unused ships and facilities. The Xanthalian central government has accepted those statistics, and the cut has been scheduled to go forward as planned.
