An Empire crumbles......(OOC: Civil War OPEN RP)

Rukemia
23-10-2003, 03:04
Rukemia has been in a state of turmoil for several months, mass protests against newly enforced laws occured almost daily and the country is constantly plagued by civil unrest. Fear of an uprising against Emperor Jon had split the country almost completely in half. On one side there were those who were loyal to the Emperor and believed whatever he and his High Council decided was right for Rukemia, was indeed right for Rukemia. Then there were those who had grown tired of having to be ruled by one man and his so-called "High Council", they believed that the Emperor had too much power and that the High Council members were only puppets of the Emperor voting with and against laws at his will. The people against the Emperor were in favor of a democracy over a dictatorship, they wanted to have the freedom to vote on their own and have a part in making decisions for their country.

It was painfully clear that Rukemia was slowly slipping into a Civil War, both sides knew this, when is what they didn't know. But something had to be done and done soon. The when became now on Oct. 22, when a "Freedom Militia", who had formed during the months of turmoil, layed siege to the capitol city of Mercia from within. Pipe bombs were thrown into at military outposts that had been setup on street corners, killing dozens of soldiers. Gunfire could be heard all over the city as soldiers and civilians alike dropped like flies as the bullets sprayed the streets. The same was going on in the 4 other major cities of Rukemia; Rikrit, Mekka, New Freeport and Kemsburg. The "rebels" appeared to be about 500,000 strong are heavily armed and seem to be well organized. Rukemia's entire army has been mobilised to put this threat down but it has been proven to be a burdensome task, they're already 521 reported dead soldiers and 10 destroyed tanks, civilian casualties are unknown at this time but are estimated in the thousands.

The Emperor has declared martial law but has yet to speak out on this conflict. As of right now we advice all civilians to stay inside their homes until this is over with, more will be reported later on....

After the civil war begins in Rukemia, Omz222's old enemy, finally arises, the High Omzian Administrative Council and the Politubro are immediately informed. After an emergency meeting, a press conference was held on the morning.

******

Press Building, Omzian State Administration Bureau Headquarters
11:59AM OCST, 100 Red Revolution Way, Osaria Downtown

Again, a group of high military and government officals appeared in this press conference --- along with journalists, video cameras, and microphones. The sunlight shined the bright yellow star on the red background, and the spokesman finally strided to the podium. Cameras flashed, as if they are waves of the ocean.

"Good morning, comrades. We are now aware of the conflict in Rukemia, the nation we fought years and years ago. We are aware of this so-called Fredom Militia, and the Rukemian people's struggle for freedom, peace, and democracy. We are also aware of the genocide and mass civilian population destruction by the rebel forces, while the Rukemian military is also seems to be damaged. The rebel are clearly very strong and organized, providing a difficult route for the current Emperor of Rukemia, as the citizen population is also revolting.

We express our nertuality in this conflict. We express our coldences for the innicent civilian lifes lost in this conflict, and we will continue to watch the situation. We hope peace can be restored. We will now also allowing refugees of the Rukemian conflict to flee to our country. They will be taken under our care, and given a new job in a new society. Either way, we wish the Rukemian citizen well.

Bless Omzian Democratic Republic."

After the quick speech is done, the spokesman finally strides off. The ocean of camera clicking continued.

Chaos, complete chaos..., thought the Emperor as he sat before his High Council, listening to the incoming reports of the extreme violence that could be seen on the streets of Rukemia. 10 years of tranquility gone, ruined, and in return I get this...death, destruction...over such little things!, the Emperor sat with his head in his hands, blocking out the talking of the High Council...

"Emperor.....Emperor Jon, Emperor you have yet to make a decision on when you will address the public on this situation.", said one of the Council members. The Emperor looked up at the man who had said this with an ugly look on his face.

"Situation? This is a god damn war! People are dying and you call it a "situation? The stability of Rukemia is in jeopardy, if we were to fall to these..these thugs then what? What shall we do then?", the man looked back at the Emperor with a blank expression on his face. The Emperor looked around the long table and then spoke again.

"I will make my address to the people today, the people need to know what's going on now, not tommorow or the day after. We haven't got time to waste, I want all rebels and anyone associated with them shot on site. The leader of this so-called "Freedom Militia" must be found and killed immediately. Family members of any known rebel must be executed as well, they need to know that when you go against the Empire you must face consequences. Any known Pro-Rebel towns must be burnt to the ground, as I said before they must be taught a lesson. Strict curfews must be placed in all major cities and anyone who disobeys this will be shot on site. This will not last long and this will not get out of control, we have the upperhand and we will maintain it! These are my orders and I want them implemented immediately, I will begin to write the address and will speak it to the citizens of Rukemia as well as the world when I am done. That's all."

The Emperor promptly got up from his throne seat and walked out of the room and to his study where he began to write his address. His orders were carried out shortly after they were given and rules concerning curfews and other things were posted up all over the major cities of Rukemia. Over 5 million soldiers were called up and put on active duty and a new recruitment drive was started, conscripts were to be avoided unless absolutely neccasary. But as the Emperor and his army began to flood the streets with recruitment hand outs and papers, the rebels did as well. Most rebel propoganda was torn down when found by a Rukemian soldier, but not before it caught the eyes of a few curious citizens.

The fighting in the streets had appeared to die down, with only sporadic gunfire here and there, mostly coming from apartment buildings and there were a few Rukemian soldiers sniped off. The Emperor temporarily thought that the crisis was over, that maybe he had beaten the rebels back, he believed this so much that he even stopped writing his address only a couple hours after he had begun.

But this was not the case, the rebel leader, Marcus Devon had ordered for his troops to pull back. This was only phase one in the war, he knew that if he tried to take the Emperor and his army head on he would surely lose, the soldiers of the Empire were much better equipped, it would be a slaughter, the revolution would crumble. So he devised his tactics by using guerilla warfare, he allowed to let the Emperor think that it was over, that he and his men had been defeated. Many rebels had been captured but none had talked, that is how loyal his men were, they were prepared to even sacrifice their lives in the name of freedom.

Marcus knew he had to contact outside forces some way, he had to let other countries know of his people's struggle for freedom, but how? Then it hit him, he would use the one form of communication that no one would expect, letters. He sent over 100 letters to several different Embassy's and some to foriegn countries, with whom he had connects in. The letters contained graphic pictures of women and children being executed by the Emperor's army, the fighting in the streets and an in depth summary of why they were fighting and of the crimes that were commited by the Emperor, the letters pleaded for help, for some kind of sympathy. His men needed weapons and vehicles, they needed some sort of life support. They were large in number but few in supply. All he could do was wait, wait for some sort of reply, some sort of message back from a nation to let him know that he and his men wouldn't be in this fight alone.

Marcus was only 23 himself, he was a former college student majoring in polictical studies. His mother and father were executed by the Emperor and his men for treason, but they were only speaking their minds, something that was forbidden in Rukemia. They had run an underground newspaper exposing the Emperor and his Council and pointing out all his faults, when they were found out they were shot on the spot in their homes, right in front of their son Marcus. That was 2 years ago and during that short amount of time Marcus had started an incredible revolution, rallying thousands at his side for a fight for democracy. He knew something had to be changed and what started out as a "study group" at his college library with a few friends had turned into a large, powerful and passionate alliance of all those who desired freedom. All members were kept quiet under a strict oath, thus keeping the group unknown to authorities, when the "study group" suddenly began to grow in numbers though, Marcus knew they had to change locations, so they met up in an abandoned warehouse and from there word of revolution, of a powerful young man who spoke freedom spread like wildfire.

They recieved arms from friends, they recieved training from ex-soldiers and within 8 months they had an effecient fighting force. Now they were fighting on the streets for the future lifes of Rukemia, for the children of the nation.

Thoughts of a new Rukemia ran through Marcus's head as he sat in an underground bunker several miles outside of Mercia, he had gone from a student to a soldier in a very short period of time and now he felt as if he had the weight of the entire nation on his soldiers. Could he prevail? Could he win this? Only time would tell.

Subject: The siege on your capital will be broken.

Padmasa, as we are still on high alert from recent threats, is ready to send aid, and is. An expeditionary force consisting of 3 legions is on it's way to break the siege of your capital and set up a foward command center. Please, adivse us on what the enemy is armed with and where he is concentrated... Further advise, are we allowed to kill those civilians we suspect will turn on us or are sheltering rebels? We are already killing them but will stop if asked.

*Far away from the capital over a hundred miles the padmasan column marched on. Dropships swooped overhead and scouts ranged in all directions. Members of the 'Blades were in the 'van and snipers were everywhere. It was said a SheVa would be brought up but it wasn't with the expeditionary force.*

Expeditionary force stats:
27,000 marines
1,500 snipers
3,000 scouts
6,000 combat engineers
6,000 heavy weapons
500 Heavy dropships
300 gunboats
2,100 troll combat cars
900 orge main battle-tanks
300 macro main battle tanks

OOC: Stats for vehicles are at my 'site and stats for men will be provided at need.

Supply lines are maintained by a full 1,000 dropships.

If you want to set up an ambush scenerio they are avoiding canyons, passes, marshes, and forests where possible. If possible could I get the stats of the average rebel soldier, I won't change my men's armament once I find out and pretend I had outfited them that way the whole time but I would like to know.

Subject: Help accepted.

We weren't really expecting any outside help at this time, but now that we see that the situation is growing only more and more serious with time, we will graciously accept your offer. Large concentrations of rebels are believed to be in the Southern woodlands surrounding the capitol city of Mercia, several bombing runs have been commenced in this area but as you can imagine it's very hard to know when we are successful and when we are not. Many Spec Op teams have been sent to this area, but few come back alive...we suggest you send your men to the outskirts of the city, to make sure that the rebels inside the city are cut off from any type of supplies they might be recieving. Do whatever you feel neccasary to end this threat, killing civilians can count as neccasary, sacrifices must be made to maintain stability...

OOC: The average rebel soldier is armed with an AK-47 and hunting knife, most have camolflouge and the ones that don't wear civilian clothing. Come on people, I need more folks to join.

Subject: Pressing home

My lord, we are a mere 60 miles away now. We have met litte resistance, the litte we did was shocked to see us. We fear though that the element of suprise has been lost. Casualities are light and almost exclusively from friendly fire. The siege will likely be broken in 3 days. However scouts report the enemy has armor. Repeat the enemy has been supplied with armor and possibly better weapons. Please confirm armor sightings. Also, we will need your help. When we launch 3 green flares and 2 red... Rally your forces in the city. We fear that the numbers of the enemy will kill us if you do not.

*The column pressed ever foward yet not all was well. There were unspeakable events taking place*

*Sivak expert sniper/scout of the first legion stalked throuhg the forest with a quite ease. He held his 1f-7 at his waiste, ready to bring it to his shoulder in a second. He heard the voices again, this time not so far off, still directly in front of him. On impulse he ducked down and continued foward at a steady lope. Even with his expertise he didn't see the end of the trees coming. All he knew was that he was suddenly in a clearing facing a squad of men carring assault rifles wearing camo. Bullets flew left and right of him and his returnfire was almost slow and certianly methodical as he cut the men down. In the span of a second, though he would attest that it had been minutes, the enemy squad was, to the man, on the ground twitching. He slit thier throats anyway.*

"Commander, enemy squad at my position. All are dead."

"Good work Sivak, check the bodies and get a move on."

*Sivak did as ordered and as was the norm found almost nothing. Some Bucks, a few extra clips, basic survival gear. Though the last body was an different. The man had carried papers. A quick scan of the documents had Sivak once again reporting.*

"Sir, the enemy is getting ready for a massed assault on the city... tomorrow. Also, looks like they bough some missles or something, I wouldn't recomend sending a dropship near them."

"Okay, we'll advise our allies."

We have obtained intel in the form of a hand-written letter and polaroid photos that suggests that there is a rebellion in your nation. We are not happy with this situation, more specifically we are not happy with what caused this rebellion, atrocities commited by the Empire of Rukemia. As far as we are concerned you have two choices:

1) Both sides can sit down for talks in neutral territory well away from Arda with us a mediators. This is the option where we stay out of this conflict and you do not provoke our ire.

2) You can not sit down for talks and we help the rebels. This is where you piss us off and I think you know what happens when we are pissed off.

We leave the choice up to you but choose what is best for your nation.

We hope that you are incorrect in your recent report of the rebels having armor, for we find it hard to believe that these group of thugs could sneak anything into our country without us knowing, let alone steal one of our own tanks. If, however, by some chance the rebels really have possession of any armor then they will be destroyed with ease, if rebels can manage to operate them then they couldn't be too powerful. Orders have been given to our troops to do as you have requested and they will await the signal of your men.

"I hate to do this but it would appear the country of Rukemia is on the brink of civil war, I just thought you should now."

Allenson takes in a deep breath. He knew all too well what civil war could do a country, the memories of Tappee's civil war still fresh in his mind.

"Send them a Message, tell them that if they are in need of any assistance to let us know, and we'll see what we can do."

It was his belief that maintain stablity of any country would help prevent unnessary blood shed.

Rebel Leader, Marcus Devon, had just recieved word of the Padmasian troops who had arrived as allies of the Empire, he cursed under his breath. He felt like a coward, sitting in a bunker so far away from the fighting giving orders to men who already considered themselves dead. But he soon shook the feeling and got back to doing what he had to do, this was a war and there were to be casualties, he wouldn't allow himself to fill his mind with thoughts of his men dying. In the recent days his men had dubbed him the nickname "The General" and his right-hand man, who was second in command was known as "The Lieutenant". The Lieutenant, who's real name was Chris Skathers, had the job of making sure whatever The General ordered his troops to do on battlefield went down exactly how The General wanted. He stood at attention at Marcus's side as Marcus was sitting down with his hands folded looking deeply into a map of Mercia that was layed out before him on a table. The map was roughly estimated and the location of the troops on it were purely based on landmarks.

After staring at the map for sometime he looked up at Chris and gave him his orders. "Ok, it looks as if we're going to be out-equipped but not outnumbered in comparison with the Padmasian troops. We need both sides of their columns swamped while they're marching through our territory, I know that this will hold off the initial strike on the city, but we must get rid of the Padmasians before they can move inside the city. We will need at least 40,000 men for this and only those who are best equipped. We just recieved a shipment of 250 RPGs and 10,000 M-16s, as well as a few large crates of grenades. It really is amazing what you can purchase on the internet, but anyways I want the Padmasians struck directly in the middle of their columns from both sides of the path their traveling on, this should stall them long enough for us to begin our push into the city. You got all that Lieutenant?"

The Lieutenant nodded, he pulled out his cell-phone, made a few calls and within 1 hour rebel troops were moving into position to ambush the Padmasian column lines. Silently, the rebels moved through the forests in groups of 8, under the cover of night towards the Padmasian lines. The rebels could see the outlines of tanks and troops marching down the path that they were soon to ambush. Once the main attack group was some 100 yards away from the Padmasians, they stopped advancing and crouched down, gripping their AK-47s nervously and preparing to fire. The men who had been armed with RPGs were to be the first to fire at the supply lines, their desired targets were ammunition and supply trucks.

They all held their fire nervously as the Padmasian columns trudged along in front of them apparently unaware of the rebels presence. When the group leader felt the time was right he aimed his AK-47 at the head of a Padmasian soldier and fired, giving the signal for the RPGs to let loose. 100 streaks could be heard as 100 different missiles hit around 40 different targets tearing into Padmasian supply trucks and open troop concentrations. Another volley was fired, and then the rebels leapt up and rushed the enemy as best they could, firing wildly on the Padmasian troops and running furiously out of the treelines. The battle had begun.

Rukemia doesn't have anything to effectively counter space and neither do the Rebels. Gravships and Dropships are ok as long as their uses are for more of an artillery/navy type part, instead of trampling all over ground forces. In other words I want this RP to last a while, not to just curl up and die because of an Ortillery strike, so yeah, keep the future tech at a minimum please.

Surely you don't expect me to help you because of these pictures Marcus, my old friend? If you needed help dealing with the Rukemian Empire, all you needed to do is ask. You certainly didn't need to send me disgusting pictures of dead babies and women. You know that I have a certain... influence in the Apparitions government. You also know that I have used my influence to control the Apparitions army in the past. So you know what I can do to help you. I could send you 50 000 of Apparitions troops to help you in your effort. I certainly could send you 100 000 sets of Apparitions latest design of body armor. But the question is, is this help a gift or a loan? I will ensure that you win this war if you pay me back in full by the time you are in power. Plus you'll owe me a favor.

The praise is not neccessary, we are just helping to dispose of an old enemy. The equipment will need to be dropped from orbit using ablative shells, so we need a DZ well behind your lines to guarantee its delivery. No payment is neccessary, its old surplus and we use more advanced weapons now. Speaking of which, if this does not help we can send some of our standard issue equipment, but that will cost you. If worse comes to worse we may end up sending I Corp, they're our best troops and will steamroll anything short of another battlemech equiped army.

I'm not sure who you are, or why you call me an old friend, but if you do what you say you can then I promise that I'll hold up my part of the bargain. When I gain power, I promise to you that I will re-pay you in anyway you see neccasary. I've little knowledge of your nation and it's military history, perhaps some background on these troops and suits that you say you can send to us will shed some light on the situation.

"You know, if you're going to be my spymaster, I think you should tell me your name."

The blonde man smiled and shook his head. "I'm sorry, Brian. I mean, Mr. President."

Brian Adams sighed. "Well, it was worth a try. What is your idea?"

"I need you to lean on the Business Council. Specifically, WMD Inc. and their subsidiaries."

"Rukemia?" Adams guessed.

"Correct. As you know, Mr. President, Rukemia is key in Arda. We need to keep the trade routes and the markets open."

"Very good." The President nodded. "I'll get WMD to contact the government."

The spymaster bit his lip. "Not so fast, sir." At Adams' raised eyebrows, he continued, "I recommend we get weapons to the rebels too."

"To the rebels?" But Adams could already see the point. Most of the small Apolytonian governments invested in Karakas' arms trade were in collapse or flux. True, as long as Alecrast, Centralis, and Dakmoristan remained solvent, his government would be all right. Nonetheless, new arms markets would go a long way towards reversing Karakas' economic downturn.

But playing both sides was risky. The arms would have to be moved by at least two different companies, with no (apparent) connections to each other. He said as much to the spymaster.

"True," the blonde man admitted. "It could blow up in our face. It's your call, Mr. President."

"We'll do it," Adams affirmed. "The Business Council wasn't born yesterday. I bet they know tricks I've never even dreamt of."

"Have we recieved any word yet" Asked Rowling.

"No but they'll contact with the where and the when, if they are ready. I can only guess with the current activity that their playing it pretty careful. We may not hear from them for a little while."

Rowling thinks for a moment. "what do you think the Allenson plan to do."

"I think that he want to talk with the rebels see what they have to say. If he like what he hears then maybe he'll help, if he doen't. he'll try to brooker peace between the side, as a mediator. But if they upset set him. we'll then he'll have no choice but to send in the military if they're requested. The role that we will play in this conflict will be the result of this meeting. I only hope that we ca avoid bloodshed if possible."

OOC: Sorry about how late my reply is and I was going with mostly modern tech, though my general and his guards will have powered armor... 11 men won't change the outcome. Hmmm, I wonder how many rebels will die tonight.

IC: Xok waited. His guards stalked to either side of him, and the men were all around them, he was reasonably safe. Then the explosions started. Further down the line trucks exploded and men screamed, but Xok just smiled. "Janos, a flare please." The big guard nodded acknowledgemnet and fired the flare-gun he had been clutching for the past hour, a white flare streaked up into the night illuminating the column. The men responded with a ragged roar.

There rebels couldn't have known, they probably didn't even expect what happened but when it did they instantly knew it had been a mistake to try and fight these men. The Padmasan troops, to a man, dropped to one knee took aim to one of the sides and began simply cutting the forest apart with heavy fire. Most of the men had been equiped with ARZ's and the 11 mm rounds began cutting the very trees to either side of the road apart. The snipers, and there were enough of them, had been depoyed evenly and all had been issued two clips of explosive rounds, they went to work with a zeal. Explosions began rocking the column but the men kept up, heavy weapons specialists brought grenade launchers to bare, the rebels were now locked in a fight they could not hope to get away from. The tanks, the turrets swiveled ominiously to the sides and machineguns raked the forest, no main guns fired though...

Xok led the counter-charge. 900 men rushed into the forest to either side all armed with AGC-7 and hammer 5s. Time would tell later how many fell in the first few moments.

Expeditionary force stats: (first combat revision.)
23,500 marines (1,500 men died in the opening volly) (2,000 fell to grenades)

A lone man wearing a trenchcoat and a hat that covered most of his face, walked down an empty sidewalk in the Embassy District of Mercia City. To the back of him were many patrolling Rukemian soldiers, overturned cars and public displays of execution. To the front of him was none of that, only embassies. The embassy district seemed to be completely untouched by the hands of war, and if you were to look at only this section of the city then you would never guess that a war was brewing inside of it. He walked hurriedly now as he neared the Tappee embassy, he knew that Rukemian snipers were all around him, watching his every move and he wanted to get inside a building as soon as possible. He walked up the stone steps of the embassy and knocked on the door, he then waited for someone to come and usher him in.

__________________________

"For Rukemia!", shouted a rebel as he ran crazily out of the forest and onto the battlefield. He had an AK-47 strapped around his shoulder and was firing it wildly at the Padmasians, several hundred men followed behind him and ran out of the treelines screaming war cries. Just as he and his men were about to advance a little further, 3 bullets ripped through his chest and he was silenced. He fell to his knees and died slowly, the same fate would fall upon much of his men as they continued to run out of the forest greeted only by bullets. They had underestimated the ability of the forces they were up against and the end result was bloody.

Bodies were hurled into the air as explosions rocked the treelines sending rebels every which way but down. RPGers stayed in the background of the battle, aiming their weapons at the tank turrets now, they fired randomnly and moved around alot to attempt and confuse the enemy. When the Padmasians began to run out of the column line and into the forest, the combat quickly changed from long range to hand to hand. The RPGers couldn't fire on them because if they did they'd be killing their own men, so they continued to do as they had before and randomnly fired on tank turrets as well as large concentrations of soldiers. The rebels were definately without a doubt taking heavier losses in the battle, but they were dishing out their own hits as well. Their sheer number kept them from retreating and they continued to fight valiantly rushing the enemy from the forests.

9,000 Rebels dead

Can you sneak my soldiers in as easily as you can sneak all those weapons in? The Apparitions nation is going to keep very quiet about our involvement in this war for as long as we can, so we need any extra stealth we can get. Here is what we will be sending:

28, 000 marines
2, 000 snipers
3, 500 scouts

More will be in reserve, we plan to also send 1, 000 supply dropships. Please write back to me soon, telling me how we can stealthily enter Rukemia.

The sound echoed through the halls of the embassy. Since the begining of the conflict security at the embassy had been increased.

Two Marines open the door to find a single man stands before them. He looked to be apart of the shadows themselfs. One of the gards looked over at the other waiting. The second guard looks the man over trying to decide what to do.

After a few moments of ackward silence the secound guards speaks

"Come inside, embassador Sim's has been expecting you. If you'll follow me."

The Marine leads the man through the main corridors of the embassy until they come to stop infront of an office. He open the door and waits for the man to step though.

Waiting in the office are Embassador Sim's, and Agent Rowlings.

Sims is a man is his late sixity's with short grey hair, and blue eye's. he's waring a black suit which appears to small for his medium build. Across for Sim's is agent Rowlings

OOC: Christ, I'm sorry to do this, but all my hand to hand equipment is futuretech... I can't really change it, so oh well.

IC: Xok's countercharge could have been called many things but overall it would be thought of as suicide. The aggies had torn rebels apart, literally shredding them, but they didn't carry enough ammo. Now it was down to hand to hand. But even there the rebel scum could not hope to irk out many casualties, chainswords were brought to bare with results that would make the Padmasan weapons masters who were so far away smile. Xok himself was litteraly covered in blood as he emptied clip after clip of rounds into the rebels his men had ingaged while his own sword rose and fell, shearing first through the knife they futally tried to parry with, and then through flesh and bone.

Back on the road fighting was just as terrible, the rebels had made a bayonet charge taking hundreds of casualties but still soem made it to the padmasan men. "Legions, From up! From up!" and the men did, leaving 4 feet between each man, the front line became butchers. The men in the back lines fired still and some even slimbed onto tanks to get better shots. Even as the dreadful slaughter took place from the trees far behind the rebels another flare shot up into the sky. "Green flare! Repeat Green flare!" The call traveled up and down the line with amazing speed and all who could quickly donned Gill A4s. (gas masks) Those who could not suffered. For as the green flare rose each man who could pulled a single poison grenade from his belt and threw it. Soon choking yellow fumes filled the forest. Men fell on both sides, though mostly it was only Padmasan men from the front who died, and soldiers form the back lines stepped up to take their places.

Far back, where a flare had sailed from over three thousand men loped through the forest. Each held the duel knives that were the symbol of the Padmasan scouts. They crashed into the rebel reserves and soon their funeral durdge could be heard even above the fighting. Men died.

Rebels could not risk killing thier own. The Padmasan men suffered no such problem and the tanks each let loose a shot into the woods. RPGers who had just fired a shot found themselves not only chocking gas but engulfed in flames. The Tanks had finally decided to end the fighting quickly.

OOC: The gas, a special made Padmasan poison. First acts like a tear gas causing retching, ect. But more than 2 minutes exposure causes something different to happen... it is similar to a scorpion's venom the nerve system is shut down causing paralysis and death via suffication or if the victem is lucky, their heart stopping...

second note, all Padmasan men are trained in hand to hand combat with all weapons. Though most will never use this training.

Expedionary force stats: (Second combat revision)
21,239 marines (combined poison, friendly fire, and rebel fire)
1,230 snipers (rebel fire)
2,750 scouts (enemy fire and bayonets)
5,150 combat engineers (enemy fire and some RPGs)
5,590 heavy weapons (just a few dead)
500 dropships (none on scene)
300 gunboats (none on scene)
1,980 troll combat carrs(RPGs
894 ogre main battle tanks (a few more luck shots)

The man looked at the two guards who had escorted him in and then sat down. He took a seat and then took his hat off, putting it in his lap. Underneath his trenchcoat he wore a cheap black suit that was stained with sweat in several places. He appeared to be nervous as he fiddled around with the black hat that was in his lap and he took turns glancing at everyone in the room. Finally he spoke, "I am...I am Marcus Devon, leader of the revolution and I have come to speak to you today upon recieving a letter that wished for me to come here."

He talked as though he were reciting lines, and in truth he was. He wasn't Marcus Devon at all, just a body-double who would normally be fighting on the frontlines had he not been called up for this assignment. In his left ear he wore an almost invisible, flesh colored earplug, through which Marcus spoke to him, telling him what to say. In his right trenchcoat pocket he had a small microphone plugged into a very small attenna like object, through which Marcus heard, allowing him to hear every word said in the room as if he were there himself. Marcus was prepared to negotiate, but he had no reason to trust Tappee enough to bring himself to the table.

Rebels vs. Padmasans,10 miles outside of Mercia

The rebels almost seemed to have the upperhand in the battle, they had swamped the enemy from both sides and were flanking their frontside. They fought in a WWI type style, charging the enemy side by side, for they knew no other way to defeat the enemy in this scenario. The rebels were out-classed by the Padmasans when it came to hand-to-hand combat, but they still managed to put up quite a fight given their situation. Most of the rebels wielded hand-made tomahawk style axes for a sidearm, which were almost obsolete when put up against the enemies sharp swords, which cut through rebel bones with ease. Few rebels were equipped with a handgun as a sidearm and the ones who were were normally group leaders.

Blood painted the green trees and grass of the forest that day and most sprayed from rebel veins. The sight of the battle looked horrible, mangled bodies, both rebel and Padmasan, littered the forest floors, most were missing limbs and still bled even in death. The fighting was so close-ranged and so furious that there was no time to care for the injured and if you had fallen and not died, you were either shot in the head or were left to bleed the death. The Rebel motto was "You're better off dead if you can't fight.", and they intended to stick to it.

Victor Tate, a Wargroup (500 men) leader, cut through his 4th enemy soldier with his axe and he finished him off with 3 bullets from his 9mm sidearm. Blood was splattered all over his face and it shined in the sun like warpaint, he looked to his right and saw a dozen rebels get cutdown from railgun fire, he looked to his left and saw a rebel soldier fall to his knees and then get decapitated by the sword of a Padmasan. They were losing, many men had fallen, too many for his taste, this seemed to be a lost cause and Ricky began to doubt the strategy of his superiors. Still he fought on, he swiftly pocketed his 9mm, raised the M-16 strapped around his shoulder and shot two Padmasan soldiers who were running upwards into the treeline from the column. He shot two more approaching Padmasans and then raised his hand to signal to his Wargroup that it was the right time for them to enter the fray. They ran from the forest and into the columns, swarming past Victor and reinforcing their comrades below. Victor began to run himself when all his Wargroup had passed him and he fired sporadically but accurately on the Padmasan column below him.

Victor threw his only grenade into the middle of a group of 4 Padmasans, killing them all and unfortunately the two rebels that had ran towards them. Victor fired continously on the Padmasans killing most that he encountered and injuring all those that he didn't, he didn't have much time to deliver fatal blows to those he shot and didn't kill, he would be left too vulnerable to the enemy.

He was on his 14th Padmasan soldier when he saw the green flare go up in the air and over the heads of those in battle, he wondered what it meant, but not for long as it became clear as soon as the enemy pulled out gas mask and hastily put them on. Victor figured they must've had some chemical weapon they were about to fire, but he honestly didn't want to stick around long enough to learn about it. "Retreat! Retreat!", yelled Victor and all his other counterparts who had figured out the meaning of the flare, but it was too late for the most part. The enemy had thrown strange looking grenades and from within them a thick yellow gas seeped out, first choking and then violently killing all those who were in contact with it long enough. Victor turned to run for cover into the forest and was shot in the arm by a Padmasan, he didn't have time to return fire so he kept running until he was safe from enemy fire due to the thick trees in the forest.

He coughed as he ran, much poisin had gotten into his lungs, but not enough to kill him, as he ran further the air became fresh and he was finally able to breath in clean oxygen. The rebels had been pursued into the forest during their flight and many had been cutdown by the enemy, gunfire could still be heard from behind and screams could be heard as well. Victor fell to the ground from exhaustion and took cover behind a tree, he leaned his back up against the trunk and then peeped over it to see how many of his men had made it out. He only saw 90 or so men and most were in a similiar condition to him, hiding in bushes and behind trees looking warily behind them. The battle had turned into a massacre once the poisinous grenades were thrown, that plus the cannon fire as well as the pursuing soldiers was enough to wear the rebels down and cause a full retreat. The battle seemed to be over and it looked as thought he enemy had won.

We don't control a large enough area of Rukemia for you to safely sneak almost 40,000 soldiers in quite as easily as we sneak in weapon's crates, unless of course your men were to hide in crates, but we would advice against it since they would almost certainly be caught. The only two feasible ways of getting into Rukemia and coming to our aide is either

1. You could try to fight/sneak your way in, which would not only be difficult but almost certain suicide given the numbers of the forces you have offered.

2. Have them transported by means of dropships, which would still be difficult, but definately more feasible than option #1. We have the technology to temporarily jam the radars that scan about a 40 mile radius of Rukemian skies, thus given that you were to fly at a high enough altitude, maybe even temporarily in space, then decrease your altitude fast enough to drop safely drop off your soldiers in Rebel territory and somehow leave unnoticed at the same speed, then and only then could we do business on the battlefield.

Unless of course, the Apparitions government can come up with or maybe have a better idea, this is all we could come up with and this is all you have to work with at the moment.

Goodluck.

Allenson takes a sip of his coffee allowing it to fill his stomach.

"Well their government doesn't need our help, and we are not sure what the rebels have to say. so for the moment we are going to remain neutral. But we need a presence in the area just in case. I'm going to send the Dodalla and the Dauntless, with four squads from the second X of the coast."

"CAG, launch Shiva regiments 1-100, standard strike package with an assasination attempt thrown in. Make our package delivery right after the attack commence."

"Yes, sir. One strike/assasination/delivery combo coming right up."

Fighter poured out of their launch bays, they were painted a dark grey with a slightly lighter grey speckled here and there and had no insignia so as to hide their origin. As they approached Rukemian space they broke up into groups of twenty-five and adjusted their formations relative to where their targets were on the ground. As they started to enter the atmosphere they tipped the noses of their fighters straight down and cut their engines to the minimum required for maneuvering. Their targets consisted of barracks, airbases, tank laagers, radar sites, fuel depots, and in the case of the 1st Regiment the Emporer of Rukemia's palace. The flight leader counted the kilometers until they were in range of their weapons, at 4.8 kilometers they fired their light guass rifles, at 4 kilometers they added their extended range PPCs to the mix. As they reached 3.5 kilometers they pulled their aircraft horizontal and threw the fusion engines into full output and one they leveled out they pointed their noses back up into space and returned home, at least those that made it did.

Under the cover of all this chaos a single dropship skipped along the surface of the atmosphere and dropped several hundred ablative eggs as near enough to the assigned DZ as was possible. As the eggs dropped the ablative skins burned and layers peeled away and after there was no more ablative to surround the crates parafoils deployed to further slow the descent of the crates. Finally the crates touched down with feather softness and the parafoils calapsed over the crates, leaving them camoflagued from aerial observers.

OOC: The specs for my Shiva fighters are here: http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=60862&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=20&sid=2a0bfc18db2aba6fbe2806e978751982 and there are 50 fighters to a regiment. OOC: Well, now that there's been a small fight I wonder when the real fun starts? How do you feel about trench warfare, I've wanted to try it out for some time but.... TG me if you want to give it a try.

IC: Xok stood among his remaining troops, many had died but they had irked out a victory. "Okay men gather up ALL the wounded and all equipment you can. Our dropships will make one run down to pick up our most seriously wounded and we'll have to get the rest to the city before anything else can be done. In ten minutes we move out... Engineers and Heavies. I want the forest behind us to burn, explosives are to be thrown as far in as possible, rockets if needed. Don't waste time just get going. The scouts are already ahead and checking for resistance."

A rumbling came from the back of the column and they were once again joined by the Macro tanks. The column mvoed out, the rebels that had been captured were given enough frist aid to keep them alive... the city was the last chance... if the casualties become more grevious the entire expeditionary force might need to be recalled.

Hundreds of miles away, deep in the city of Padmasa a debate raged. It seemed that the Masters wanted to not only send re-inforcements, but wanted to find and kill this rebel leader Marcus... it seemed that an ally might be called up.

Victor wrapped one last bandage around his bloody arm before leaving his camoflouge tent and joining the rest of his men outside who were either in foxholes resting or patrolling the borders of the camp they had made. They were now roughly 5 miles east of the Padmasans and were going through a process of regrouping and reorganizing after the pounding they had recieved from tank artillery and rocket fire. It had been a hard day, and things were bound to only get harder from the way things looked. The entire Wargroup of once 50,000 men had been cut down to more than 1/2 its original size, which meant that they were only 50% capable of what they once were. They had been completely crippled, cut off from supplies and were now stuck in between the Padmasans from the east and the Rukemians from the west.

There only option was to continue to move several miles northward until they were in the clear and once they were they would loop around and meet up with the main Rebel forces. Victor had been named the new Commander, as the orginal one and the one that would've took his place, both died in a rocket/artillery strike. Victor had seen more bloodshed in one day then most people see in a lifetime, most of which he wished he had never seen. He felt that he was going to collapse from the weight of responsibility on his shoulders, since now he and only he was solely responsible for whether they made it out of this alive. Many disturbing thoughts ran through his head as he sat next to a one of the many campfires and stared blankly into the dancing flames.

Sims thinks to himself for a moment, trying to decide how to proceed from here.

"Ok this is what I'm going to do, I want you to follow the guards that are waiting outside the room. They will take you to one of the guest quarters here in the Embassy. Get some rest you look as if you could use it. While your waiting I'm going to contact my government, and tell them what you said to me, I will suggest to them that we help you. But the President Allenson is the only one who can truely make the decision."

Sim's waits for the man to leave before sending an encode transmission back to Tappee. It Reads:

Message: It is my belief that it would be better in the long term for the population if the current power is removed. It has been my experience that if we allow the current power to remain that more innocents would be lost then otherwise. Therefore, it I would suggest that we aid these freedom fighter in their cause.
{end}

Now all he can do is to sit and wait.

Unfortunately, I have lost my political power, and enlisted in the army. Enclosed is a letter from Yakton Uptoni our leader.

Subject: The Rukemian Civil War

I see that Ghost has sent you letters, saying that I will send you troops. He used to have an influence over me which I have recently broken. I will send you the troops that Ghost had recommended earlier, only I will only be sending a few thousand. They will be disguised as peacekeepers. I will send a message to the Rukemian Government, telling them that I am sending peacekeepers to protect civilians from danger.

Here is the new amount of troops we will be sending:

1 500 marines
500 snipers
250 scouts
250 combat engineers

OOC: Alright, here we go.

Skies above Mercia

A lone squadron of F-22s patrolled the night skies of Mercia, scanning the perimeters of the city for anything suspicous in the air and on the ground. They couldn't fire on ground targets inside the city, but they could warn Rukemian ground forces of any strange activity taking place in the city. The night had been boring and so far they had had no need to call any ground forces about anything, as a matter of fact, this night had been one of the most quiet that the pilots had ever seen. But unknown to them, it was quiet for a reason, the rebels had recieved word of Scandavian States delivery plan, and what little rebel forces were still in the city were told to hold their fire until it was made sure the package had landed.

The squadron of 15 F-22s had just circled around the city for the third time when it happened, around fifty unidentified aircraft leapt onto fighter radars and into Rukemian airspace, the Rukemian pilots were taken by complete surprise and scrambled to make communication with the aircraft before opening fire. Two attempts of communication with the fighters were made and when they recieved no response, they alerted anti-aircraft on the ground and then sped full speed towards the fighters. A volley of 60 missiles were fired and then another, as well as several rounds of kinetic cannon fire. 9 of the 15 fighters were lost to the enemy aircraft, before the aircraft spun out of orbit, dissapearing from fighter radars.

Rukemian forces inside the city were hit hard, but civilian casualties were high as well, due to how boxed in the Rukemian soldiers were, many of their outposts stood atop civilian buildings. The Emperor himself was not harmed, he rarely stayed in his palace during times of war, he was several miles outside of Mercia in an undisclosed area.

Casualties:

4 Radar sites destroyed
9 F-22s lost
14 Lelerc Tanks destroyed
23,290 Rukemian Soldiers dead

Rebel HQ, Mercian Forest

Thousands of rebels stationed at the HQ in deep in the forest, waited almost impatiently for their delivery. The package was being dropped off near a cave, where many rebels hid inside ready to take the package when it came. Suddenly bright lights filled the area and thunderous booms were heard from above, something was happening and it was big, even from within the forest the rebels could still see the lights of the air battle above them and now they looked around for a sign of their package, they knew it must come soon.

Finally it did without any sign whatsoever, several boxes dropped from the dark sky and outside the cave, they were taken inside the cave and the contents were shortly given out to the men, after a brief lesson on how to use them by one of the group leaders...

Sim's had just recieved word back from the Homeland and felt that it was time to talk to their special guest.

He waited while the man was brought down from the guest chambers to his office. After some time on of the guards opened the door leading the man into his office. Sim watched as the man took a seat across from him.

Sims reaches over and tosses a file that was located beside him across the desk, it lands directly infront of the Rebel sitting across from him.

"My government has decide that it would be better for the people of Rukemia if you where the one's to win this war." He pauses for a moment for the man to take in his words. "But this poses a problem for my government. We currently don't have the resources to provide military aid on a large scale. In addition we want to keep our involvement low profile. So this is what we plan to offer you."

He glances over to Rowlings who gives him a node of approval

"In Two days a number of special forces teams will be arriving off the coast Via Tappee's flag ship Dauntless. Those team will be ordered to assist you in anyway possible. Their primary orders will be to train as many of your people as possible. However, if you need they will engage in combat if nessary." Sims points to the folder laying on the desk. "In that folder there is a list of equipment that you may need. let us know what you need, and we will try and get it for you. But let me be very clear in this matter. If any of our people get captured or if this gets out, we will disavow any knowledge of this operation. Now do you want our help, or has this been a waste of my time?"

He sits back and waits a responce.

As the aerospace fighters landed the Fenrir's CAG gave his report, "Twenty-one fighters destroyed and about a hundred more damaged, we'll put the alternates onto full time duty with their regiments and put together the neccessary replacement fighters but we can't take many more losses like that before attrition becomes a factor."

Admiral McCleod nodded, "All right, I'll contact the rebels and see what they can do about the kenetic missile sites. Right now orbital bombardment is out of the question, but we do have two RCTs with us. If they can't take those sites out we can."

Now that you have your shiny new toys we have a playground for you. We need you to break some of the Emporer's toys, specifically his kenetic missiles. Our Aerospace Forces have never taken any losses in combat, the Emporer needs to pay for the honor of being the first to do so. If you need assistance we can provide it, we don't want you throwing your men against a wall that we'd be better suited to breaking.

Let me know,
McCleod

OOC: Would you object to a SF unit in battlearmor taking out a couple of your KM sites?

Xok and his men did not run, they were jog-trotting as usual... Though the flames that were close to overtaking them and the smoke was acting as a beacon to all rebels in a hundred mile radius...

________________________________________________________

They arrived in the city looking like death's own children, the smoke was a dark cloud that proceeded them. Xok hastily sent death squads of 50 to clear out any rebels in the city proper, while engineers erected an HQ. Xok himself ran to the highest point he could reach until his death squads reported back and contact the Padmasan High Command. An additional 13,000 men would be brought in via dropship and another 6,000 combat engineers were coming to. XOk was to entrench around the city and let the rebels waste energy on his forces, and when the rebels were distracted the locals would kill off the remaining rebels. Entrenching began as soon as Xok sent an affirmative and told his men to get to work.

A message was sent to the locals via a private.

To: Rukemia High Command
From: Grand General Xok
Subject: Arrival.

We have taken some 5,000 rebel prisoners, all will be tortured until we learn the location of thier bases... We were ambushed, best estimates say that there were over 30,000 rebels against us. We are currently digging trenches around the city and re-inforcements are coming to man them. I require a list of local soldiers, supplies, weapons, and other equipment. Any armor would likely help.

We will undertake to re-arm your best soldiers with our own arms. I do not wish to offend you but our equipment is much better and if your men are to be any help at all in fending off the rebel attacks they will need to be as well armed as my own men. Please, confirm that this is acceptable.
