Slave Trade in Istar (open RP)

23-10-2003, 01:09
Gurzakazah Tivzargoh (Gurz for short), a large young minotaur over seven feet tall with enough muscle mass that would be the envy of a Istaran Bull in the School of Games during the mock tourneys before the major bloodbaths, his body fur was a rich brown that was matched only by his eyes, of course it didn't matter how strong he was or young he wore the iron collar that marked him as a slave of Istar, he and the rest of his kind in the Holy Empire.

"Move you cows!" roared the Slavemaster Darza, a bulky woman with mean red eyes, onyx black skin, a pug face, the intelligence to match, and enough muscle to rival a fully grown male minotaur. She cracked the whip over their heads to get them to move faster as they worked as a chain gang, picking up trash and refuse in the city of Istar because after all the city didn't just keep itself clean by magic (and it was tried several times before it was determined that it wouldn't work) and it was part of Gurz punishment to do this humiliating job for him knocking the lights out of that teenager who threw a rock at him, but it was better than working in the mines which he knew was where a minotaur with his muscle would wind up any day from now.

The sun had set an hour before and most of Istar was quiet at night, more out of tradition than anything else, but a few passersby ignored the sight of Minotaur Chain gangs keeping Istar clean. "Oh look at that!" the Slavemaster spat as she looked at a rather nasty pile of garbage on the marble road, "Clean that up now you cows!" she cracked the whip over their heads again to get them to move. As they cleaned up the mess (without gloves mind you) the Slavemaster made a call on her cell phone. "Hello? Is this the Master of Games? Good, no I'm fine. Listen I think I have a slave that will fit in quite nicely in the School of Games, he is too volatile for street cleaning and has enough muscle to do the work of three men in the mines but I think he would be better off as a gladiator than a steel miner. Perfect I'll see you tomorrow." she then turned her cell phone off and cracked the whip again for good measure.

The Next Morning:

Gurz's day started off having a bucket of cold water dumped on him by one of the guards. "Wake up cow! Darza wants a word with you." the guard said as the Minotaur woke up coughing and shivering from the cold water. Within a few minutes he was in the gray rags that he wore as all his other clothing had long since worn out and he was being marched down the halls of the StreetKeepers Complex towards Darza's Office.

In the Office

In the office the Minotaur bowed and scraped his horns on the floor as was necessary to keep from being hit with the giant stick (which was the size of a large tree branch) in Dazra's hands. The other person in the room was a one-eyed grizzled man with plenty of muscle in leather armor. "Look him over all you want Gamemaster," Dazra said as the Master of Games overlooked this prize piece of prime fighting material. "You won't find a tougher minotaur." The Master of Games then said, "We'll train him and try him out, you will be his sponsor, and you get a 10% share in all the money made off of him, if he lives." the tone in his voice showed her that this was a take-it or leave-it deal and no one swindled the Master of Games. "Done." she said as she shook his hand and gave him the contract from him to sign. Gurz then became the ward of the School of Games with Dazra's permission as he was her slave.

The School of Games
The Great Colosseum of Games in the western quarter of the Old City of Istar was the largest Colosseum in existence, putting even the Roman Colosseum to shame as it was over 10 stories tall and the arena (in the shape of an oval) was over 800 feet wide and 900 feet long, the sand was constantly replaced and kept clean due to the large amounts of blood the sand was bathed in. Gurz took in the sight of his new home, empty was it was only the morning and the games happened at night and it would be several months before his first tournament, that is if he lived that long. "First of my name is Turji, remember my name Minotaur as that is the name of your new master." the Master of Games said before two guards took him to his cell. "At least it is private." Gurz thought as he was thrown in.

OOC: Ok now you can get involved, as the gladiators in the cells near the Minotaur. The two formats you have to work with will be pretty basic so you can build on from there.

Minotaur-Slave: They are usually born into slavery (but a few are still captured from remote island tribes and pirate vessels on occasion), usually very obedient to their masters (but they hate every moment of their obedience but very few ever see a way to escape it)

Human-Prisoner Slave: The most dangerous criminals of Istar (murderers, serial rapists, and major theifs) are made into gladiator-slaves, usually they are just used for public feedings to the lions and Istaran Maneating Bulls before the main event, but a few are veteran gladiators.

Razkah Seronot (Raz) heard the new prisoner being thrown into the cell next to his. The former occupant had died a while back. He was suspicious of the newcomer, but would wait to see what kind of attitude he had.
23-10-2003, 02:24
Raz decided to initiate contact. "Hello" he said in a gruff voice.
23-10-2003, 02:26
Hearing no immediate reply, Raz sat back and waited. He much preferred this place to the mines where he had been before, but the others were a hell of a lot less talkative.

As Gurz eyes came into focus he noticed that there were many cells in the underground bellow the Colosseum, each one had a single Gladiator inside. Gurz glanced about but saw no guards, he noticed then heard a voice speak to him from the cell in front of his. "Welcome to the School of Games." said a sultury human voice. The woman came into view, she had short cut raven black hair, long fingernails, baby blue eyes, skin bronzed by the sun, and was wearing a simple gray slave robe (the armor the gladiators wear is kept in an armory several levels above the slave cells). "I am Lilla." "I am Gurz, for short." Gurz said as he nodded and stood up.
23-10-2003, 02:31
As Raz heard Lilla's voice, he said, " Lay off him Lilla, he's only just gotten here." But now that the newcomer was alert enough to speak, he added, "My name is Raz for short."

"Hey Raz." Gurz said then coughed after enhalling some dust, "How did I ever get myself stuck here." he muttered to himself.
23-10-2003, 02:38
"Well, I suppose I got stuck here because working in the mines was too easy for me, and they were worried I would turn on them one day(Raz got in alot of fights in the mines and is very smart), so they sent me here." he said quietly. "Where were you before?"
23-10-2003, 02:46
"Street cleaning chain gangs, punishment for beating some dumb teenager nearly to death for throwing a rock at me while I was being sold at market." Gurz explained.
23-10-2003, 03:01
"Humans." Raz said with a snort. "Buying and selling us like we're nothing. We are every bit as intelligent as them. We could rebel and overthrow them, if we had the chance but we never have the chance. They make sure of that."

"Not just humans, the elves too." Gurz reminded him.

"I was one who never got sold at market. I always just sat around instead of displaying my strength. The men would whip me for it, but i never did do it. One day, i was tired of the whipping, so I showed my strength by throwing my captor against a wall." Raz explained. "Even then no one wanted me, so i ended up in the mines.

(The elves aren't the ones who actually beat and drive us as slaves though, are they? That pretty much goes against everything i have heard and thought of elves. maybe they enslave us but not the more brutal things)
(also what does OOC mean? i'm not an experienced RPer)

OOC: Good point but he was pointing out that Istar has a large minority of elves (and a few kender to the misery of the citizens).

"Yeah and your one of the main headliners of the Colosseum because of it." Lillia pointed out for Gurz benifit.

"Yeah and your one of the main headliners of the Colosseum because of it." Lillia pointed out for Gurz benifit.

" I don't enjoy the fights, but it does beat chain gangs or the mines. Most of the humans(are there elves in the matches?) in the fights, with the exception of Lillia's type, are extremely easy to kill. Most other minotaurs in the matches just let me alone." he explained.

OOC: the last pure blood elf in the School of Games was used for cannon fodder 400 years ago.

IC: "The only fights I ever had with Raz here was during the Pre-Fights, the ones where no one gets killed and are fought to whet the appetites of the audience before the big slaughters." Lilla explained.

OOC:Tolken elves wouldn't likely however I have read series with the elves being quite evil, enslaving all of humanity or trying to wipe them off the face of the world and of course there is always the dark elves.
