*shakes head in disbelief* COME ON, this isn't slave trade we're talking about, this is an OOC selling of a nation I don't use anymore!

If you're getting IC money, I'm IC invading.
DOn't argue with WV, it'll make you look like a fool, trust me I've done it...

The Shogunate will not stand for the blockade of our allies in Sneaky Bastards over the purchase of empty land. We do not wish to engage in violence, and strongly encourage the removal of Whispering Voices military assets from anywhere near Sneaky Bastardian territory, lest we need to forcibly reopen trade routes via orbital assets. What Whispering Voices does with La Famiglia is not our concern, but military action against Sneaky Bastards for a real estate transaction will not be tolerated.

((OOC: WV, Sneaky has plans to play this new puppet out as an empty land purchase to ease overcrowding and the like. Just like he did with Lordinum. LF doesn't get money ICly, it's just an easy way of determining who gets the nation.))

So I could've said 100 Trillion??

<Transmission to Reploid Productions>

If Sneaky Bastards required empty, unpopulated land, they could simply have geoformed/dried/raised sufficient land for a surplus five million people. Any attempt to forcibly open a blockade by Reploid assets will result in destruction of said assets.

Slavery will not be tolerated.

OOC:

He could just make a new nation, or simply roleplay it. No need for 1.1 billion populace worth of land if you're just roleplaying an expansion. And the stuff about people not claiming the money simply doesn't wash - if that was the case, why not give it away like other nations have given away their unwanted extras, with competitions or roleplay or something else worthwhile?

((OOC: WV, yer missing the point. Yeah, LF could have roleplayed it better. But in the reality Sneaky and I are accepting, he purchased x amount of empty land. No people/slavery involved, therefore we've got a schism in the accepted realities. Is it any of your business how other nations you've never interacted with before go about theirs?))

You know, the simplest way to do it would be to wait and see how Sneaky Bastards RPs Bradislov, and hold off any further action until that can be determined. Otherwise you are engaging in acts of aggression without justification (although I fully support your anti-slavery views). If you do act without evidence, Guanyu will have no choice but to ally ourselves with Sneaky Bastards.

So will you hold off whatever you're planning on doing if I remove all monetary charges and just let Sneaky Bastards have it for free?

As much as I hate backing down from a threat like that, if we can settle this like professionals and avoid any unneccessary bloodshed, then we shall persue a path of peace.

OOC:

Perhaps had the thread not been entitled "Auction for a nation with over 1 BILLION PEOPLE!", and had La Famiglia hinted in any way that it was an empty nation, or in fact any other part of the nation being empty been hinted at in any way, shape or form ... maybe.

But since La Famiglia obviously sold it on the basis there were 1+ billion people in it, is it any of your business how other nations you're not directly interacting with describe their nations?

The nation was sold as one with over 1 billion people in it. Whispering Voices hates slavery. Therefore, it makes sense for WV to act upon this sale in character, since it was an incharacter sale with incharacter money paid to La Famiglia.

A simple referendum held to allow the citizens of Bradislov to determine their own fate would be ideal. In the event they choose to be disposessed by the Sneaky Bastard(s)(ians), then that's up to them. Presumably there will be prime land elsewhere for them to go to.

LF- Check your TGs

OOC: There are plans to the RP the purchase of the land and details were being discussed on how it would be worked out. The auction was only to determine who got control of the nation OOCly. Could there have been a better way? Maybe. But this auction was the way LF did it. Don't like the way it was done? Tough.

OOC:

Last OOC post from me in this thread. However, the nation is clearly being sold "with populace", so unless some act of genocide has happened that hasn't been mentioned, what else do I - or indeed my nation - have to go on?

IC event 1: Nation put up for auction. Described as being "of over 1 billion people".
IC event 2: Warning issued to country selling said nation.
IC event 3: Nation sold.

Now, to my mind at least, logic dictates that due to IC event 2), the following will happen:

IC event 4: Warning followed through upon.

There has been no IC indication from La Famiglia that the nation is empty, and since he responded asking if we could work around this rather than saying "it's an empty nation", presumably it isn't actually an empty nation. I apologise for not being all-seeing and all-knowing and able to read people's private telegrams and/or thoughts, however, as far as I'm concerned the actions of my country have followed a distinct and logical progression, whilst yours have been "hey, that massive country with like, a powerhouse economy and dwellings for 1 billion people is totally uninhabited! Ignore the thread name! La Famiglia doesn't know what's in his own country!"

However, I do concede that due to the fact I haven't been involved in conversations between LF and Sneaky B about future roleplays, I don't know what's happening and there may indeed be a justification for 1 billion people disappearing.

Then again, my nation wasn't in those roleplays either. So.

OOC: Tag + Comment!

I'm kinda glad someone has actually done something IC about the terrible RP that is selling nations. Though personally I like to stick to basics...

OOC Selling of Populated Nation = No money for your other nations, seeing as it is a OOC transaction.

IC Selling of Populated Nation = Your nation would be selling a politically independant nation to be ruled over by some other nation they have never heard of. If someone did that to my nation, I think I would be pretty unhappy. Like WV said, it's like slavery and is perfectly open to IC moralistic wars being declared.

I suppose that if it was unpopulated then you could do it IC without repercusions, but you couldn't use the nation it's self (by that I mean the people and in the income they receive) you would just be buying alot of land, which means the 1 Billion Population part of the nation is ignored and deleted by in activity (becuase it's a empty nation).

*ahem* anyways... as you were

-=<Sneaky B News Network: Government purchases 593.5 million acres of land>=-

"Earlier today officials from the Department of Land Management and the government accounting offices met with officials from La Famiglia to make official the purchase of 593.5 million acres of land. The goverment purchased the land for $1,500,000 per acre. The purchase was made in an attempt to remedy the problem of overpopulation and the straining of resources in our lands. At a press conference after the officials met, one official from the Department of Land Management addressed the issue.

"We had very few options to work with. Our population is growing too fast. With halting of the deep space colonization project and the orbiting space colonies in the Lordinum Colony Cluster reaching their population limits, we had to make the purchase. La Famiglia had empty lands being unused which were perfect for us. This is only a temporary solution however. Until we can restart the deep space colony project, we'll have to resort to buying unused lands from other governments."

When asked about building additional orbital colonies, he replied with this statement:

"The Lordinum colonies were built by another government and abandoned by them, and we were lucky in obtaining them from the goverment that owned them. Building the orbiting colonies is a very long, time consuming process. While we do have the designs and technical data to build more, we simply can't do it in a short enough time to ease the strain down here on the planet.'

We'll have more on this story when more info becomes available."

"The transmission by the obviously-biased propaganda machine of Sneaky Bastards shows a human rights abuse of epic proportions in the making.

Close on 600 million uninhabited acres of land that are suitable for inhabitance and yet are not inhabited? Anyone with a modicum of reasoning ability can see that this is clearly an impossibility!

What happened to the disappeared citizens of Bradislov? Where have they been deposited?

Where are the bodies of the innocents, foul swine? Where are the one billion dispossesed men, women and children mentioned in La Famiglia's advertisement?"

The Don of La Famiglia, Johan Glas, released this press conference today on the citizens of Bradislov.

"The nation of Bradislov was in a near-anarchic state, being in several civil wars within its history. Over the past year, nearly three million Bradislovian have relocated to neighbor nations-La Famiglia, Lupara, and Spetsnaz to name a few. Upon the recent removal of the Bradislovian government at the hands of an internal rebellion movement, the country fell into anarchy again-the nations of Omerta Isola, where Bradislov resided agreed to relocate the citizens of Bradislov from the political termoil. The vote from the Bradislovian public was overwhelmingly in favor of the move-therefore, the citizens were moved to the nation of their choice within the region."

Subsequent to the publication of the UN's independent commission regards the Bradislov referendum, which we received this morning, we are pleased to find that slavery has not taken place.
