The Middle-Earth Cup
The Middle-Earth football cup started this morning, with 4 matches being played throughout the Day in Great Boogies National stadium.
Todays Matches were reported by Mila Carondell.
Match 1 - 1st Round
*** Boogieville FC vs Trax Athletic ***
Well although Trax were looking to be the favourites for this match, with their team being much superior to Boogievilles, the Match told quite a different story.
Things were started off almost immediatly, with the first shot coming in from Boogievilles Starro(11) in the 6th minute.
The game continued badly for Boogieville after that first glimpse of success though, as passes were falling short almost constantly for the forward players.
Trax's passing on the other hand, was very impressive, and they were in strong possession of the ball for the first half of the match.

The 2nd half was even slower than the first, and nothing really happened until the 75th minute, when Trax's Horsetamer(11) smashed the ball from just outside the 25 yard box, and Boogievilles keeper Conntas(1) just got a hand to it, to make it go wide of the goal.
Overall a Slow match, with Trax Athletic looking the stronger team at the end of the Game

Match 2 - 1st Round
*** Murlokian FC vs New Orlando ***
The first half of this match started excellently, and fans were pleased to see that what they had paid to see the match, was worth paying, as both teams were very riotous for most of the time.

Nearing the end of the 2nd half, and Orlando's Candence(10) and Mae(5) both recieved yellow cards within 10 minutes of each other, for foul play.
At the end of the 2nd Half however, the Orlandions were looking the stronger team.

Match 4 - 1st round
*** Lothar FC vs The Atreus ***
The last game of the day, and what a game to look forward to, a real clash of the titans as these bad boys go head to head with each other for a whats looking to be a smashing game of football.
Play was between halves most of the time for the first 20mins, and the first shot to goal came in the 26th minute, from The Atreus' Bautista, and Cohen(11) smashing another one towards Lothararion's keeper, but to no effect.

In the 2nd half, the Lothararions began to look ever stronger, and it wasent long, until the Game had changed.
Moffit(8 ) smacked a surprise into the back off the net in the 68th minute, leaving the crowds roaring once again for their champion team.
It was only a few minutes later however, that the gap widened even more, with Router(11) smacking another one in the back of the net in the 73rd minute, after a sensational one-two session with Earlier scorer, Moffit(8 ).
The final whistle blew, and a sad and sorry Atreus left the pitch, with the sound of Lothararion fans cheering wildly. Good start to the Tournament, and a good end to the Day.

Damn't... A loss...
Greetings, and today we had another great line-up of Games, 4 of which were also played today.
The first game today was Match 5 - 1st round
*** Trax Athletic vs Cirdan Azura ***
The first half looked dull for The Trax's, with hardly any possession of the ball what so ever to the surprise of the fans.
Azuras play in the 1st half was somewhat more impressive, with Strong defending keeping the Trax's out when they made a break, and fairly solid passing lines going up to the forwards.

The Azuras really hammered into the Trax's in the 2nd half, but it was not long before Trax began playing how they should, and Horsetamer(11) banged one in the back of the net in the 56th minute.
This was possibly one of the only decent runs the Azuras let Trax have however, and it was unfortunate for Cirdan that they made sensible use of it.
Top marks for effort for the Azura's, who were possibly robbed of this game.

Match 6 - 1st round
This was the 2nd time these teams had met, since the freindly last week which saw Boogieville run off with 2 goals to nil, and as the Fans made clear at the start of the match, The Orlandions were keen to repay the favour.

The Game got off to a quick start, with a foul being made in Boogievilles penalty box, which Candence(10) made use of, putting the Orlandions ahead in the 8th minute, with his debut goal for the team.
It was not long however, until the Boogieans fought back, with Jenner(10) putting the teams back to level pegging with his goal in the 24th minute.

The Boogieans were at it again in the 2nd half, but were stopped much to their dismay, by a cracking save in the 56th minute by Orlandos Keeper, Raeros(1), who stopped Boogieville going ahead.
He couldent hold out for ever though, and a Fatal mistake by one of Orlandos defenders, which temporarily blinded keeper Raeros, left a free kick from the half-way line go sailing in, in the 84th minute, with Roy Hudsons (currently injured) replacement, Ron Rogers(9), making his mark.

Things began well for Atreus, with play moving swiftly forward, and Fitzgerald(7) had an unlucky bounce off the crossbar in the 36th minute.
Good things however, always come to an end unfortunatly, as Forest's Springwater(5) made sure of, as he put one in the back of the Atreus' Net in the 45th minute.

Forest's Forward, Barter(6) held the fort from the 2nd half, ensuring the Atreus did'nt make any strong breaks, and he did well, as The Atreus, Unfortunate yet again, left the pitch with the other teams fans being the only ones cheering.

I LOST AGAIN!!!!! AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH! I went to the match agian, dispite my officials telling me it wasn't good for the baby. AND THEY STILL LOST!?!? grrrrrr i am not a happy elf :(

Im afraid this Tournament will have to be Put on hold for a While, as after some Meetings with Club managers, and the Board of the GBFA, we have decided to Enter the 10th World Cup. Unfortunatly, with current Sports funding, we can not afford to run the Middle-earth cup at the same time. Apologies for all those Concerned.
