For Sale: Shape-Memory alloys, cheap

Spacer Guilds

The recent discovery of two large asteroids, each with both high nickel content and high titanium content, has led to a massive overproduction of nitinol.

Thus, we will be selling off large quantities of nitinol, as well as titanium and nickel.

Prices are negotiable, and not necessarily limited to currency.

Well, what does this nitinol do?

As the title implies, 'tis a shape-memory alloy. Once it is molded, it can be deformed, and will retake its original shape upon heating. It has many uses. It can be used in artificial muscles or other linear actuators, tight pipe seals (stretch it to fit around the pipe joint, then heat it to make it contract), storage (make something big out of nitinol, then compress it for transport/storage and reheat it later), etc.

Our base price is the equivalent of 20 ounces platinum per ton. At current values, approximately 6,000 MC.

Well, as far as practical uses go: I can use some for testing hulls for warships. I require 20,000 tons of Nitonol, money will be transfered as soon as confirmation of the order is made.

that comes to... roughly....
26,250,000 Cells
at 20 USD per cell...

It seems that this is a rather successful product. As usual, bulk orders deserve a rate cut. Anyone wish to negotiate a lower price?

OOC: Nope. Nitinol is a real alloy.

"Your metal has significant interest in the CnC Universe scientific community in metallurgical research. My nation is willing to emburse you with $250,000,000,000 dollars worth of Nitinol, and we are willing to pay all at once. Pertaining to advanced computer hardware engineering, we are interested in researching materials which can hold memory components without the need for magnetism. I hope we can do business with a product as useful as yours."

We are interested in buying large amounts of titanium and nitinol from you.
How much of each do you have?

And do you have a price for us regarding the two substances?

It is, then, a reasonable reduction.

Our totals come to 349,927,694,084,710kg of raw titanium and nickel. Nitinol can be manufactured from this stock as needed. We shy away from giving hard monetary values, but our base price per ton of nitinol comes to 20 ounces platinum, and titanium comes to 12 ounces platinum per ton.

Very good. Perhaps you would be interested in spintronic or optical components?

"Yes, any material such as those will do. We will take an additional $100,000,000,000 of the other materials you just listed in addition to the $250 billion Nitinol inquiery. The money will be hardwired to your specified accounts momentarily."
