Diary of a tourist on holiday in Der Angst
Day 1: Today, we arrived in Der Angst. The ship was black, with some sort of shifting surface. I was scared, but they said it was all secure. A day before we arrived, the water changed from blue to green, sometimes red or brown. It`s fascinating. When the brown and red water touch each other, a small explosion can be seen. It´s wonderful fireworks, the bright orange lights all above the water... I saw a whale, although a strange one. Didn`t know 40m long purple glowing whales with saber tooths existed. All of us had to upload mental firewalls. Damn teeps, but they said the animals would scan us. Since when are animals telepaths? Damn scientists.
We were forced to wear this strange encounter suits as well. They say the level of radiation and toxic chemicals is to high for us to survive. I don´t believe them, but to please them, i wear the suit.
The hotel isn´t bad, although the building seems to be build out of the same stuff the ship uses. Somehow i feel dirty whenever i touch anything, even with the encounter suit. And there are strange noises coming from the upper levels. Have to research it sometime.
Day 2: Today we visited the harbour. Again the explosions and flames in the sea. And in the air, for that matter. Must be the gas coming from the chemical industry.
I met a nice DA woman. She looks strange, with her pale, white skin and dark hair, but i like her. The locals say, to tell a girl you love her, you should meet her at the great oil spill some km from the coast. They say it´s romantic. My wife, however, has a different opinion. No idea why she hates me so much. After all, she wanted to do the trip as well.
Anyway, the giant submarines they have are interesting. Unfortunately, we couldn´t board one, but used one of the Underwater Mag Levs to reach the sub aquatic domes in the sea of Aerona.
Fantastic thingy`s, i have to admit. Up to 330000 people live in this domes. Impossibly crowded!
But the view is fantastic.
The fishes are a wonderful view. Any existing colour can be seen. And when one of the pink electrosharks is on the hunt... oh my. I even made a few fantastic pictures. Love the new digicam.
But the squids scare me. What do the bioengineers in DA have with those saber- tooths? Especially when they cut through the domes walls...
Day 3: Everytime i look up those 3km high towers, i realise my own irrelevance. However, I always wondered what this tiny doves above them are.
I should have known that this 'tiny doves' are somewhat larger, considering how high they were.
But 12m wide and fire- breathing? Curse this bioengineers. I will miss Marie, too.
However, today we watched the underground parts of the city. Quite interesting, although i still think my own cellar at home looks better.
The outskirts if the 'fortress' were especially interesting. They say that it`s a growing plant, and that it is supposed to become a fortress. I think the DA engineers need a reality check and less morphium.
The biology down here is interesting. Although i still don`t like the eight meter in diameter spiders here... but the DA kids seem to love them, must be a popular pet.
I would like the plushy- like earthworms, though, but one of them nearly bit through my encounter suit. Well, they say the acid isn`t able to get through it. Lucky me!
Day 4: Damn parasites. We had to change our hotel, as the old one was overrun by a colony of 30cm long ant- like creatures. Man, i was scared! Now we`re only ten, considering that we arrived with 15... But Brett is finally gone, god i hated that arrogant ass!
In the outskirts of the city, we saw a Hulk. Impressive view. 40m long, 10m high, looks like a brontosaurus, only that it eats houses instead of, well, leaves. But then, the Angstians say that their houses are acctually plants, so i presume it`s all right.
The news were boring, as always. Why can`t i get the soccer league news from home? Anyway, it seems the Angstians launched a new spaceship class. Sperical ones. Who cares! I want my soccer results!
Day 5: Only two days until we leave. It´s too sad. I love this country, it`s fascinating, simply... different.
Oh, and i have to change my opinion. The encounter suits ARE neccessary. Susanne`s broke. Well, makes divorce unneccessary, so there`s a good side on it, as well.
But she looks beautiful, with her green, rotten face. And thats after being in contact with the air for only two minutes!
Still don´t know why she wanted to return early. Well, i will enjoy the remaining days in Der Angst.
Day 6: Today we were diving. No idea why the others were so scared. As if there would be anything dangerous waiting for them in the water. DA is safe, just as the ads said! After all, they DID want an adventure trip.
As cold as the air is, we have february, and regularily ~0°C, the water is relatively warm. Must be the regular fires where the chemicals in it mix.
However, it was fascinating. All this different species! Esspecially this ten meter long jellyfishes... with even longer tentacles. Jack loved them so much, he refused to leave them. Lucky boy.
Still, saber- toothed sharks are not my favourites. Although they very much like my group comrades.
One thing is for sure, i will never forget this holidays.
Day 7: We had to prepare for departure, while DA schoolchildren (Scary look. All pale, white skin, black hair... and their spidery pets *shudder*) went to school.
Unfortunately, one of my best friends during the trip, Michael, forgot to update his mental firewall. Well, it`s not to bad to think one is a bird... but in the 66th floor? Well, i hope his wife wont take it too serious.
So, in the end i left Der Angst, with only the best of memories. I definitely have to come here again. Such lovely people, such a lovely country!
Unfortunately, my flight back is a bit lonely, was much more fun when we came here.
Hope the kids are ok. Damn, have to take care of them, now, that their mother is gone. But i talked to Michaels wife, and she`s very much in favour...
