Those Were The Days...

Who was ever in the UPC, WMNK, or CAF? (Those are in chronological order). Those were the good days.

Bah, stop reminising about the good old days. Although NS is swamped with n00bs, the truly stupid ones are few and far between, and there are still several million good RPs out there.

And just because I can't think of one off the top of my head... :P

<---- Didn't learn how to roleplay well until July. Sigh.

Still, the GDODAD actually being feared, Nanakaland, the endless stream of WMNK copycats (CAGED)... those were the days.

And just because I can't think of one off the top of my head... :PLately, I've seen quite a few good newbies churning out from Oct. 17 to Oct. 19. Or are they all puppets of older nations?

AMF is still here.

Anyway, it's nice to see I got so many replies so quickly.

The CAF no longer exists, it's NATO now.

And I:

-Was the founder of the UPC.
-Was one of the first ever WMNK members.
-Founded the CAF as well.

Nik, you did a good job with the others, I'm sure you've got room for one more.

I'd definitely join.

It's ok. Not many people know me. I've been silently acquiring an empire for the most part. I haven't taken a big part in RPs, but I am starting to get into doing them (now that I've gotten to be massive  ).

Good times, good times.

Dark Terror, they sucked back then too... but that was because of technical problems, not nations RPing skills...

I remember a bit... I arrived around the "good time," but I still think there are good RP's out there.

Still, my biggest pet peeve is the lack of good open RP's. I got involved in a good one (during the good times)... not sure if anyone remembers the Xolistan incident... hoo that was fun.

But now it's all... wierd stuff... and while I don't mind creativity, I think I speak for everyone when I say there's nothing like a good war RP.

I remember when I started, waaaay back in December... I remember when Demonness was a major superpower (now she's Lodoss-only) and was invaded by the Gretzlanders... I remember the military glory that was Darkskye... I recall the time Trenton, NYNJ was nuked by a rouge St. Dominic submarine... I fought with Chimaea, Aerigia and others in the Amerigan Slaver War, only to look on with horror at the atrocities of Iesus Christi... I remember konwing next to nothing about the Ieno-Iesus conflict, having given up NS for Lent :) ... and many other thing I can remember.

I've been here a long time.

God bless,

One thing though, the boards DON'T suck now. The experience that we had back around the time that we joined is the same one that the new nations are having now. It may seem like things are worse, but that's only because the overall picture has broadened and zoomed out, we have grown older, and the sparkle and shine of this place has faded. We have been here long enough to see trends repeat and the same thing be posted time over time. It seems to be wearing down into never-ending repetitivity, and this bothers us because we're so old that we can see it clearly. So we obsess ourselves over the little things like this, while new nations still think of this place as something new. Remember the feeling of exploration and adventure that you first had when you came here, and everything was new to you? That's what the new guys are feeling right now. These are their golden days.

TDP helped me there. That was also the night of the simulation rP with tDP and sniper country. Now that was the day.

I'm giving NationStates an honest shot. I'm seeing what would happen if I was actually running a country, not how many invisible nukes I can launch at every nation. I just hope I can do a halfway decent job at RPing. Here's to the n00bs like me who want to play.

Well, CAF is now in NATO. Problem was, after TDP left CAF dwindled. NATO salvaged what was left of it, and SCORE, and soon to be NPA (N00bie Protection Agency).

A lot of NATO's success if contributed to TDP assisting our decision not to enter the Drum Gods vs. FluffyWuffy wars. We built our standards after that.

Newb/Newbie: New player.

n00bie: New player that isn't getting the hang of the game or is making the same mistakes many times.

n00b: New player that has become a pain in the ass and never ceases to annoy good RPers.

Reverted n00b: An older player who's RPing skils suddenly go down the tubes to n00b level.

Just one nuke, actually, and the reason it couldn't be popped was that it was godmoded and never existed in the first place. Had it existed, the hole created by the nuke would have caused it to collapse.
