The Core City Daily Times
AP- The Jedi Knights of CoreWorlds report that they have averted a potential major attack on the Academy by the Anti-Force Liberation Front. The younger padawans were sent deep into the forests for their own safety, as Knights and Masters fought off the terrorists. The 20+ terrorists had AK-74s, grenades and even 10 pounds of C4. Fortunately, the explosives were seized before they were used. A spokesJedi was reported as saying that "we are glad that the Academy are safe, and the terrorists have been apprehended. Thank the Force, that no one was killed."
As you probably know, the Jedi are refugees and children of refugees from a Purge that occured about 20 years ago and sanctioned by the evil Emperor Palpatine. The were welcomed with open arms by the then President Donald Deagan, but criminals weren't so happy. Currently, there are at least 50 Jedi in CoreWorlds, counting padawan learners and initiates, and the numbers continue to grow. The Jedi are placed under the Justice Department, working with ordinary police and they report directly to the President.
The AFLF spokesperson, speaking from an undisclosed location had this to say: (cue Imperial March)
"You may have defeated our forces this time, Jedi, but next time, we will succeed, and we will have our revenge! MUWAHAHAHAHAHA!!"
(OOC:Crazy, aren't they? :P )
In other news, the Department of Defense, R&D division have reported that they are beginning research on laser weapon technology based upon the weapons brought by the Jedi (not lightsabers), and are expected to start mass-producing their first-model blasters within the next 20 years or so. The blasters will replace 'normal' guns and have a stun setting for nonlethal purposes.
This is CWNN (CoreWorlds Network News) reporting live and on the scene with Matthew Perry.
(OOC) P.S. I hope I'm not godmodding when i have Jedi as part of my police forces. They can, of course, be killed. It's just that they're harder to kill than ordinary soldiers. Besides, they're keepers of the peace, not soldiers, as Mace Windu said. (/OOC)
