Opening speech by renowned Cleric Mular Zahar Khan, Friend of the Sultan, member of the royal court and proponent of liberalization, at the opening of the clerics national conference in Luxx North Star

the path of those whom thou hast blessed,

We have called the faithful to gather here, and with the guidance of The Most Merciful God and the blessing of the Sultan whom God smiles upon, to discuss the issues that the sanctified Sultanate of North Star faces.
As in the time of Caliph Ali, we gather as one people, Sunni Hanafites,Malikites, shafites and Hanbalites leaders of North Star shall gather with their Shi'ite Majority brethren , the Quran will be our guide throughout these days of discussion.
The first of these issues for us to discuss is the Implications of the growing illness of our beloved Sultan, we need to decern the rightful heir to his position, including the role-if any , in accordance with our understanding of Shari'a Law , of his new wife Hatusu-Beloved of us all and favored by many, Hush your cries brother Immans and clerics, God will not let us be divided on this issue and we must achieve a sound unanimous thinking on this subject. My view on this is known, my understanding of the Quran and the Sunna say she , by virtue of her blood should not be excluded, but we will discuss this further in time, a Ijma will be reached here on this and many things.
ulemas, we must also discuss the rising isolation of ourselves from the outside world, and the implication of this for our people and culture, for truly as we now triumph in technology and excel in all fields of advancement covered by the UN , we face the possibility of this changing with the growing isolation. Our closest friend and ally Iesus Christi has openly gone into a voluntary isolation, what is the implication of this for us and the Reich as a whole? Can we trust certain elements within the Reich to be true to our regional aims? Does this isolation of Iesus Christi mean Iesus Christi is no longer our friend? Once again I ask for silence until we begin our debate. We brothers must come to a conclusion on the political future of our nation, and our attitudes towards our traditional enemies such as SATO. Is the bleeding beast even our enemy anymore?Besides the blood debt, is there any religious edict or cultural necessary to continue to consider them enemies?
And finally we must come to some united discernment on the rising conflict between us and our Christian and Jewish communities inside Northstar and Reich wide. In particular I point our attention towards those Christians who seem brainwashed by delusions of homo lude and rising number Jews of the cabbala appearing regionwide. We only need to look to Iesus Christi for the rise of these new dangerous ideas, and these ideas it appears have a fertile ground in the growing Isolation of the Iesus Christi warlords.I would even say that the blood and honor laws the Sultan placed into law recently because of his friendship with these warlords, maybe a violation of the intent Sharia law.
The Jews and Christians possess God's earlier revelations in the form of the Torah ,revealed to Moses -peace be upon him and Gospel ,revealed to Jesus- peace be upon him respectively. When God revealed the Quran to Muhammad-peace upon him, God addressed both the people following these previous scriptures as the 'People of the Book' and called them to return to the straight path again revealed to God's final Messenger Muhammad. These are still Gods children, but they are apart from us because of their lack of understanding, and the threat is, with the rise of extremes in thought amongst these lost children of God, violence may occur. Our community needs us to set forth clearly what is to be done.

Shorash slowly stepped out of the car flanked by four inquisitorial bodyguards. He would attend this meeting but he was not entirely sure of what North Stars objective was. Very Well, He shrugged and joined the group and started walking towards the meeting place.

The Sultan finished speaking and slowly ,aided by his two oldest sons stumbled from the room.
As soon as his royal presence was out of hearing distance, the clerics ignited into heated debate.
The Clerics of the conservative Hussi Mosque lead by Mular Vikram, who had only just keep from shouting during the Sultans address, gave into the anger and launched into a torrent of rage directed against the Sultan, his advisors and some of their brother clerics. The room quickly divided into camps , deep divides quickly appearing.
Zahar knew this would go on for sometime, the debate had already gone for 7days before the sultans address and little had been achieved, now the Sultan-God Bless Him, had thrown the cat amongst the birds, he had spoken about secularization of education ,politics. He accused some of clerics as being minions of modernity rather than Islam, he had even spoken against Iesus Christi! But the real kicker was the fact he had named his oldest son as heir without waiting for a clerical insight into the issue. Zahar had agreed with a lot of what his beloved Sultan had said, but his speech hadn't been wise, it had the sound of a dying man desperate to leave his mark. Desperate to prove to himself that he was his own man before he passed on. A ‘deathbed Atta turk' would be how Patrick Iesus would have called it.
As the room roared in debate, Zahar wondered about his ugly friend and if Memnon would ever find out what happened to him.

Days and days had passed since the Sultans speech, and the issues had been generally buried-
"So we agree on the increased punishment for those carrying out this so inappropriately named ‘honor killings? God in his wisdom guides us to defend the truth of Shari'a!" The Room murmured in agreement.
These more ‘ordinary' issues to be taken back to the Ulema based courts had proved to be a great and helpful distraction during the great days of debate. The more ‘liberal' clerics especially those from Zahars own Sowet mosque had campaigned strongly for the truth of the Quran and the Sunna to take precedence over traditional cultural thinking.,and had meet great success.
The Sowet clerics couldn't help but be slightly smug at having managed to controlled their conservative brethren so easily on the issue of ‘honor killings'. In the end it had been the ultra conservative cleric Mular Vikram that had actually demanded death for those who would blasphemy against the holy Word by claiming there could be any other honor but Gods.

Lady Siri had actually taken to, after a long day's states-elfship, sitting back with a bowl of popcorn and watching the highlights from the North Star debates. She was greatly pleased with their progress, and was enjoying it greatly.

(OOC: If it's not televised, ignore this post. I'm just going on an assumption here, and I know the Arab League televises their meetings, so maybe it's a stretch, maybe not.)

the following is a ‘confidential' statement written by the clerics setting out how things will/should be. Being North star has no parliament as such , these ‘rulings' become law, unless the Sultan has a fit.

Under Shari'a all citizens are entitled to five rights: life, intellect, family, property and religion, this is a pillar of our faith, this is the absolute predestinating will of God, who are we to defy it?
Therefore, in the name of God, the most holy, praise be his name, we his holy clerics strike the ‘blood and honor' laws from the code of the nation. As it was presented it was unIslamic and a violation of the will of Allah. Either these creatures are children of God or not, this mudding of the way must end. Praise be Matthew Iesus for having the courage to at least address the issue of the subhumans, praise him and his family, true friends of the clerics of North Star, praise Iesus from whom our Sultan could learn so much.
In replacement of these laws, non-humans and mixed bloods will simply be removed from the true Islamic peoples to protected communities , and from there, a policy that the Sultan sees fit will be carried out.
The prohibition on photography, Non Northstar or Iesus Christi movies, receiving external television broadcasts will remain, we will not destroy the dignity of the Life God has given us with this western vile.. Punishments of breaking these laws will be increased and applied, as need to the families of those that have aided in these crime against our people and he whom created us.
The General Department for the Preservation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice will continue Their role to insure STRICT conformity with Shari'a. With this understanding, we as a united brotherhood can not accept isolation or the unilateral decisions made by leaders of the Reich or any other group inside the Reich. The Holy Quran is clear , "o believers ,take not my enemy and your enemy as friends"!
The asp of SATO and western modernity will not be taken into our houses! we must struggle outwards in not just our cultural life but also in our international policy.we must force back the tide of evil! We have the guidance of the unfearing because we know God is with us..

Zahar Khan couldn't help but feel disheartened as he read over the edict being sent out, the conservatives had triumphed in almost all things, mainly due to the Sultans Pro-Western sounding speech. The Clerics had gaged at the attitude he had taken towards them, and this Fatwa was a direct assault against his power and the power of moderates nation wide, the only bright point was the delay in there call on who they believed should be successor to the Sultan, for on that issue even the conservatives were deeply divided.. Zahar only prayed the matter of accession wouldn't lead to blood shed like it had so many times throughout North Stars history.

You should throw fits more often, great Sultan. Your clerics overestimate their position in the chain of command.

Failing that, though, I will gladly accept into my nation what few Elven citizens remain within your borders. I am certain the clerics'... creative interpretation of the Qu'ran would not appeal to them.

While I admire your concern, our citizens are our own, and I can assure you they desire naught to leave nor have reason too.

But the only thing I cant get is how King Will is a coward? He is a war hero and has done many great things and is very aggressive militarily.
