Vaon looked around. This was not what he expected. Where was the Great Desert of his homeland, where it was sand for miles? Where was his brotherpatch of desert? As an experiment, he lifted a patch of sand. It worked. So he was not stripped of power, as he had feared for a moment.

"Rise," he asked of the desert. "Speak."

"I am here," answered the desert. "I am with you."

Vaon asked the desert to twist, to swirl. It did. There was a cyclone of sand around him, but no outward wind. He felt the power flow into him, drawing him in. He embraced it.

What was this? The desert wanted something. It was not alone. There were creatures on it that didn't feel for it. Vaon helped the desert, and life was erased from the land.

"Make me known to whoever lives beyond this place," Vaon asked of the desert.

The desert, in reply, made a great tower of sand, far into the sky.

"Thank you," said Vaon to the desert. "I will exist here as long as I am not disturbed."

And so he waited.

Lady Amanda had walked this desert before. She knew it like the back of her hand. She had not visited it for some centuries now. It had changed and yet it had not. She still knew it and the wind would always show the way.
She looked up to the sky the sun burned away, but did not affect her. The elements had no effect. She looked down at her feet and then looked back and her footsteps were erased by the wind. Something was different. She felt it. It was not the same as it was before. Hmm...
She closed her eyes and waited. The wind playing with her dress. She would wait for it to come.

The desert told of an intruder. It knew it, but not truly. Not anymore.

"Should I erase it?" Vaon inquired.

"No," came the answer. "I must greet this one."

A ripple of sand moved toward the intruder.

Lady Amanda opened her eyes. They were glaring and a deep purple. How could it think her to be a intruder. Well, fine then. Let it greet her in such a way. She will just brush it off because she has been gone for quite some time now. She flexed her fingers and waited for it to come. The wind picking up frantically around her throwing bits of sand in every direction.
