Steel Butterfly

Here is a report on how Bivens just beat Steel Butterfly in the NLCS. This was Bivens' last year as a team, for Bivens was annexed by Steel Butterfly mid-season.

“War of the gods, clash of the titans, yes folks, all hell broke loose during this final game. It was a matchup of momentous proportions and it ended that way for sure. Both starters, Bivens ace Eric Apahok and SB ace James Axel pitched perfect games through the 6th, when both pitchers were pulled. Both had 10 strikeouts.”

“Mikhail Vaiov came in to pitch for the Monarchs and gave up a solo home run to Paul Hydra. Not to worry though, for Dave Warheit hit a two run shot off of Bivens closer Rick Wyrm in the top of the 7th.”

“Bottom seven, Vaiov gives up a double to Lambton but then strikes out Drake, keeping the score at 2-1 Monarchs. Top eight, awaken the demons.”

“With two outs, Xavier Mitchell gets the ball thrown behind his head. He promptly stares down Wyrm. Wyrm comes back with a 98 mph fastball right at Mitchell’s head. Mitchell ducks, then throws the bat at Wyrm, hitting him in the kneecap. Mitchell charges but is close lined by Paul Hydra, who is then punched in the face by Dave Warheit. The benches clear…and Wyrm leaves the game with a dislocated patella, Hydra with a broken nose, and Warheit and Mitchell are ejected.”

“Vaiov gives up two singles in a row and is clearly frustrated. What does he do? He nails Sean Drake in the top of the head, forcing him to leave the game for a while. The benches clear again, this time with both coaches being tossed after getting in a wrestling match behind home plate. Vaiov and the coaches are ejected, but Dagr Trax strikes out the side to end the inning.”

“In the top of the 9th, backup player Adrian Snare, who is playing for Mitchell, hits a two out solo home run to widen the Monarch’s lead. All they needed to do was to hold on to the lead. Trax strikes out the first batter than walks the second. After striking out the third, he gives up a hit and is pulled. Greg Smoltz, a starter, comes in to finish the game.”

“But it isn’t meant to be. After Smoltz walks Lambton…

-----Game Footage and Announcer’s Voice----

“…and here’s Sean Drake back in the game after getting pegged in the head….the first pitch is in…and it’s a ball…wide right. Drake has easily been the Dragon’s best bat this year. Ball two…high. This clutch catcher will probably have himself a spot on the Monarch’s roster next year…ball 3 outside! This could tie up the game. Look for the take sign. The pitch comes in. Drake waits…swings…CONNECTS….IT’S GOING….NIKANA AT THE WARNING TRACK…NO CHANCE! NO CHANCE! IT’S IN THE UPPER DECKS! DRAGONS WIN, DRAGONS WIN! THE DRAGONS ARE GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES! THE DRAGONS BEAT THE TEAM THAT THEY WILL BECOME NEXT YEAR AFTER LOSING TWO STRAIGHT IN THE BOTTOM OF THE 9TH WITH A GAME WINNING GRAND SLAM BY MVP SEAN DRAKE! WHAT A GAME! WHAT A GAME!”

Dragons: 5
Monarchs: 3
WP - Garr Ryuu (1-0)
LP - Greg Smoltz (0-1)

bump.

GS/BC - your weakness was that you had a very AL style stat card: very balanced. The NL tended to be very underbalanced, leading to a lot of home runs, and not as much small ball (kind of ironic, since in RL it's the other way around.)

I can give you more info after the WS is over.

Yeah, I tried to be a well-rounded team. Because there's a fine line between small ball and hammering moonshots.

The world series shows this...Nianacio is one of, if not the, most balanced team in NSMLB, while Bivens is the most unbalanced team in the NSMLB.

Yeah, I tried to be a well-rounded team. Because there's a fine line between small ball and hammering moonshots.

And it looks like you would have done well in the AL. Next season, though, the code is being re-written, and having a balanced team will be even more important.

wouldn't that give the AL a distinct advantage?

So I'd be better off in the NL next season.

Don't go telling too many people about this.

Once you are approved by me, the Admin, you will be able to post. For next season, you must post in the thread stating that you want to participate, create a logo, and make a team roster. Also...you will be asked to create some stats for your team. That will be explained later on.
