Your nation's Martial Arts!
Does your nation have any martial arts? If so, describe them here.
Naori's main Martial Art is Shenzenkan, a style of martial arts that involves meditation, and many traditional aspects of life. Some Shenzenkan master's have been rumored to have lived for over 150 years, while feats of these amazing men and women range from breaking boulders in half to making themselves appear in four places at once.
The main styles are kendo, fencing, tae kwon do, and general swordsmanship (Tiburonese history is big on swords), but the President and Secretary of Defense personally know the Hitten-Mitsurugi (sp) style (from Rurouni Kenshin)
Ours has no name, it is a combination of native fighting styles, the Meditative Arts, the arts of the Ninjitsu, the Shaolin, and many, MANY other styles and techniques, and Masters of this art can do some amazing things.

OOC:
From what I know, SAMBO is a different art. Don't know for sure though.
Our main style is Isshin-Ryu Karate. A blend of Goju-Ryu, Shoin-Ryu, and a bit of Judo it gives us a well rounded style designed to defend and attack against the majority of fighting styles.

OOC: I think it's the crowd control art for the Russian police forces, maybe for the military too. It's pretty damn effective. Think boxing+judo and you've got the idea.

The citizens of The Carver States used to practice the martial art of Quack-Fu, which worked perfectly until someone pointed out that the art had been lifted from a Marvel comic book.
We put our heads together (no beer analogies please) and eventually decided to adopt the fighting style known as Opening A Big Ol' Can Of Whup-Ass (a fighting style originally developed by monks . . . or truck drivers . . . who wandered about the American South). The technique stresses the virtue of hitting (A) hard and (B) first, and is usually supplemented with a variety of semi-automatic weapons

Ravenspire
19-10-2003, 06:54
The native foxgirl population of the Confederacy of Ravenspire had developed several martial art styles. These include kitsudo, a soft style focused on evading attacks and turning the enemy's force back against him, as well as nerve-strike techniques; mushijutsu, the art of using a whip, rope, or other flexible weapon to best advantage; ro zhen, a hard style focusing on flurries of fast, powerful blows; mi goo gon, the art of improvised weapons; kitsukenjutsu, a style of sword techniques; and lathreya, focusing on joint-locks and incapacitating strikes. These styles remain popular among the foxpeople, and have spread to some extent among the human population, though human arts such as judo, karate, aikido, fencing, savate, kung fu, and others are also widely practiced.

We use the forms of Tai-chi and Shoalin for the most part.
There's some self-defense styles that the elite in our armed forces learn.
Jeruselem
19-10-2003, 07:22
It's restricted to special forces and fighting monks (weird mob who kick and chant Latin). The general public don't give a toss apart from immigrant Asians.
In addition to Hanganah and various fencing styles, the native Automite martial art of Wyiyata (which sounds like "Why I oughta...") is extremely popular. Techniques generally involve doing something like the chicken dance (to intimidate the opponent), followed by a swift point-blank charge at the ribcage. Surprisingly, injuries from this maneuver are rare.

Opponent falls over laughing at Chicken dance?
:D
The Miweenians have borrowed the Scottish Martial art of:
F'kyu!
It mostly consists of headbutting and kicking people when they're down.
We used native Elven Martial arts, but they can be related to human martial arts any way.
The elven archery discipline, (now applied to ShadowBolt rifles and handguns) is related to Kyu-Do, the Japanese Way of the Bow
The elven fencing could be related to Iaido, the Way of the Fast Draw, and Iaijutsu, The Art of Killing with One Stroke.
