Overview: The Dominion of Nikea is a large, friendly nation, full of a harmonious mix of both ultramodern technology, and untouched nature. Bordered to the North by the Holy Empire of Thulackack and to the East by the Empire of Gehenna Tartarus, the nation's population of 1.316 billion includes many people of different ethnic diversities, and is a great place to live, work, visit, and/or do business.
Geography: Nikea is located in the Devils Desert region, which is located between Svalbard and Greenland. The nation’s chief features are the two major mountain ranges, the Karim and Orsenim ranges, and the two major rivers, the Misti and Tranquillati Rivers.
The Karim Mountain Range is a large mountain chain located in the northwestern corner of the country. The chain contains Nikea’s highest point, Orkesti Rakurai, and defines the border between Nikea and Thulackack. On the eastern edge, the slightly smaller Orsenim Mountain Range defines the northeastern border between Nikea and Thulackack, as well as the very small border with Tarrican.
The Misti and Tranquillati Rivers are the two largest rivers in the nation. Both draining into the ocean, all other rivers end up emptying into one of these two waterways. The Tranquillati River runs north to south through the western part of the nation. Two branches from the mouth of the river, located in the Karim Mountains, meet up to form the main river, forming a small peninsula, surrounded by the river on three sides, and the mountains to the north. Located on this patch of land is the Nikean capital of Queldas, which has grown to take up the whole peninsula. The Misti River runs north to south, with its source somewhere in the Orsenim range, in the eastern half of the country.
Climate: The Nikean climate is quite moderate. The northern regions, mostly covered from harsh northern winds by mountains on the northern borders, receive warm summers (temperatures usually range from between 18ºC and 25ºC), and fairly cold winters. The southern and western edges of the country receive a warm, coastal climate. The southern port of Interiu is a popular vacation spot for hardworking Nikeans who need to get away from the busy life of the capital, tourists, and university students on Spring Break. There are wonderful white sand beaches along the southern coast.

Old Queldas, which contains ruins and castles from the kingdom of Queldirien, brings in many tourist dollars as a beautiful historical attraction.
Miserias: Miserias is located on the western edge of Nikea, just south of the end of the Karim Mountains. A port city, it is mainly filled with military personnel and their families, as a major military base is nearby. It also happens to have the best casinos and pubs in Nikea. It is Nikea’s major western hub.
Straedias: An isolated town in eastern Nikea, Straedias is large only due to its ethnic population of Straedians. It is the main centre for the country’s lumber industry, and produces many items that are used by manufacturers and companies all over Nikea, and the world. It is rich in old architecture and history.
Interiu: Interiu is the southern port of Nikea. It is a very busy city, never sleeping. Warm year round, it is a popular resort area, and the beaches are almost always filled with people. After sunset, the nightclubs come alive, and many young people come to the city during the summer and spring school holidays to enjoy the sun and warmth, and it is a very successful tourist city. The kingdom of Interirien historical sites are the objects of many mysteries, and the stories related to the kingdom are almost magical. It has a major commercial port, and the main Nikean naval base in the southern part of the country is located nearby.
People: The people of Nikea are mostly of Nikean cultural origin. For over a millennium, Nikea, in its different incarnations, has existed within these borders, and the Nikeans have shaped a distinct culture and way of thinking.

Used in tricky situations, the Hikarim are quick to respond, and are high-quality troops. They are entrusted with other duties such as the guarding of officials and tasks of that nature.
Rilmarentiriueth Nikeaeleth Espacastarim (Nikean Self-Preservation Space Force): The newest branch of the ARN, the RNE is the branch of the Nikean forces that protect the out-of-this-world interests and space. Using a naval-type ranking system, the RNE is by far the most technologically advanced forces, however, the number of ships is small. Despite this, the force is continuing to grow at a respectable pace.

During this time, three kingdoms within the land now known as Nikea; the Kingdom of Queldirien, the Queendom of Interirien, and the Kingdom of Straediakil, all vied for control of the lands of their counterparts. Queldirien, which was based in the northwest mountainous lands, gained a slight edge over the two kingdoms. This advantage was soon lost, as at the Battle of Marseno, King Marelius of Straediakil defeated the forces of Queldirien. Queldirien King Relirius was killed in the battle.
The son of Relirius, Nikelus, took control of the kingdom. Knowing that his kingdom was in a quality defensive position, yet unable to strike out with a sufficient force, he arranged for his marriage to Princess Monica of Interirien. The marriage solidified an alliance between the two kingdoms, and it was only a matter of time before Straediakil was defeated. Straediakil officially surrendered five years after the marriage of the two royals, when King Markeno, the son of King Marelius, signed the surrender treaty. Queldirien controlled three kingdoms, and soon absorbed more land into the growing Empire.
Elven Involvement in Queldirien:
After the relative peace formed under Nikelus, Queldirien explorers explored the region later known as the Mithriandim Forest, which was previously unknown. Explorers found a new people, who spoke a different language. Nikelus was fascinated by this find and personally visited the new people. A delegation of these people, who called themselves Edhil in their tongue, accompanied Nikelus back to the capital. The Edhil soon impressed Nikelus and his subjects, and they soon became integrated into Queldirien society. Their language (which the Edhil called Sindarin), which was much smoother and easier on the ears than the harsh tongue shared by Queldirien and Interirien, soon integrated itself into the language of Queldirien, creating a very elvish sounding language, spoken by predominantly humans. The empire’s name also changed: it became known as Nikeael locally, translated into English as Nikea, after the king who united the three kingdoms. To this day, the Edhil still live in Nikean lands, and are as important to Nikea today as they were in the past.

There was stability in the nation of Nikea for 1300 years following the Edhil involvement and the end of the Tri-Kingdom Wars. Towards the end of this period, however, some of the lower classes and the wealthy merchant classes wanted a greater say in what took place in the nation. Upon the advice of the Edhil, Emperor Lesinen V began to slowly introduce political reforms, with hope of eventually forming a republic. This included the establishment of the Keristelir, which consisted of elected commoners, under the watchful eye of the Emperor. The Nikean Senate, and Cabinet was set up, and in 1795, Emperor Lesinen V declared an end of the Imperial line of Emperors, and made the Empire of Nikea into the People’s Republic of Nikea.
Elections for a President were soon held. Queldasian merchant Torsenin Mortethel was quite popular, and received 57% of the votes to become the first president of the People’s Republic.

A group of individuals, who were discontent with the Edhil and foreign involvement in Nikean society, formed the Rentiriu Nikeaeleth Sorinisti (The Nikean Preservation Society), in order to covertly undermine foreign involvement in Nikean matters. When they gained military allies, they launched an assault on the government, laying siege to the capital of Queldas. Loyalist forces soon ended the siege, and a standoff ensued. Outside help in the form of forces from the Dominion of Rhinara aided the government forces, which ended the war with a covert operation designed to arrest the NPS leaders. The civil war soon ended, and President Solarin Tinuviethel realized the need for a tighter control over the everyday politics of the nation. The People’s Republic became a Dominion, and the President maintains control until a period of peace has passed.
